in the Article: Verizon Implementing $30 Upgrade Fee Starting April 22 forum

Two quick comments then I am done with this topic. 1) Jellz is absolutely correct, carriers are shooting themselves in the foot with increased equipment costs and decreased profit margins. People would never join a network if they had to pay outright for phones like the Razr or iPhone. The companies that are REALLY taking a hit are the retailers/agents that are feeling these cost increased (and lower commissions) but are in no way is getting any piece of ...

Apple had the opportunity to surpass its competitors in innovation and design for a strong 4th quarter and 2012, but simply played catch up. The upgrades were important to bring it up to higher-end smartphone standards, but lacks Apple new and exciting "must have" approach. There will not be people camping out for this device and this further gives Android the time needed to dominate the market. Also, for those that watched the entire presentation - the part when they brought ...

Great thread! I was able to play with a Thunderbolt in Vegas a couple weeks back and let me tell you, I can't wait to own and sell this device! Here are a couple more reasons to go HTC over the fruit phone... 1) Removable battery 2) Very nice speaker with kick stand for video viewing. 3) Fully customizable OS vs iOS. This is a big one for me and many users. I want my screens to list what I want, where ...

If MIR's did not exsist then a large number of private dealers would suffer. The revenue from MIR's stays with the store you purchase from. The equipment manufactuers and carriers repay the amount in the form of a rebate. With the change to Rebate Debit cards, people are getting their rebate back in as little as 9 days.

Your exactly right Waldorfsalad! Some colleagues of mine were joking around with some AT&T competitors about how they always follow suit within hours of a major wireless change by Verizon. Even they agreed its annoying and embarrassing. It goes to show who leads the industry in America and who follows.

I agree with you on the fact that the wireless industry in the United States shot themselves in the foot when they are started offering $1 or Penny phones in exchange for a contract. (damn Radio Shack!) I would love it if we could sell phones at our cost (or even a small markup) and then get a cut for signing people up. But lets be realistic: How many people would be on here complaining about spending $500+ on these ...

This post was about how these changes effect and cost retailers, not Verizon Wireless themselves. 1) Verizon Wireless receives any ETA fees, not the store you purchased from. 2) Phones sold at retail costs have very little markup. 3) Many people think that we (retailers) get this equipment cheap, when in all reality, we pay nearly retail. Product Loss is the business we fight every day.

$350 ETA? My Vote: Keep them!
Jan 19, 2010, 8:46 PM
in the Article: Verizon Removes 10 Phones from $350 ETF List forum

Representing Verizon Wireless's #1 Premium Retailer in the midwest I agree that in many cases the $350 ETA fee is justified. Retailers and other privately owned dealers like ourselves are taking large hits as equipment costs have increased from $100-$250 2-3 years ago to $250-$600 on higher end handsets. Remaining competitive Verizon still offers these handsets and record low prices and many times Buy One Get One Free promotions. Who eats the profits? Answer: The dealers that still pay regular ...

Don't get upset, Im a nerd too. Does anyone know a way or software program that can turn the Motorola Q into a GPS Navigation device. Since GetItNow is not available on the MoQ, VZNavigator is obviously not available. Since its a Windows 5 based device though, there may be a way to configure it to work with a program such as Streets and Trips from Microsoft by using Bluetooth or the USB port. Any Ideas? Ryan

At this time I would not recommend buying the new Jabra BT800. They are not fully compatible. Everything works, like the voice commands, built-in callerID, and integrated ringtones. You can't compare Verizon's national enhanced areas to their America's Choice coverage maps. Verizon still has the best overall coverage with the fewest dropped calls. Yes, cingular has the largest customer base for the time being. I do, however, see Verizon becoming #1 again in overall customers over the next year. Now that we introduced new rate plans that offer more minutes, no roaming, and cheaper share plans. Verizon wants the #1 position back. :) SellFone
