Re: My Faves _The Truth is out here
Since my phone serves as a business phone as well (and I have more than 5 people to speak with regularly), yes...I would need at least the 1000. I have 1000 with rollover now with Cingular and can easily put away over 1000 in any given month not counting mobile-to-mobile.
Re: My Faves _The Truth is out here
Okay, then once again...I'm EXTREMELY confused! If what you're saying is correct, then this service will SUCK for BB users. It will cost 90.00/month (maybe 70.00...I could be wrong, but still more expensive) for the 1000 minute plan with my faves and unlimited BB access, whereas the normal 1000 minute/unlmtd BB plan is only 60.00/month. WTF!!! /;| :x
Re: My Faves -Launch date and plans
Yes, I understand the concern completely! It was the first question I posed to the sales girl at the store. Obviously, it hasn't been out long enough for them to really know, but I can say that the gap between the edges of the trackball and the hole that it protrudes through is extremely small compared to mice. Still, though, it bothers me a bit. I'd hate to fall in love with this nice little ...
Re: My Faves -Launch date and plans
It sounds pretty consistent with what I've heard thus far. The internet browser wasn't enabled on the one I played with in-store, but the phone was live and even though I couldn't put numbers into the "Faves" menu, the menu was there so I have to assume they told you correctly.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it! It's a pretty damn snazzy little phone!
I have a question for anyone that may have an answer...one ...
Re: My Faves -Launch date and plans
At the bottom of the screen where you have your "message" and "calendar" icons, there is one further to the right with the 5 dots and when you select it, it becomes the main image on the screen and the dots become little "people" silhoettes. The title of the icon is "Faves"...it may have actually said "My Faves", but "Faves" I remember for sure.
Re: My Faves -Launch date and plans
I would bet on it personally. Like I said, the software very obviously had the feature built in on the one I played with. I didn't understand it at the time, but it makes all the sense in the world now. :)
Re: My Faves _The Truth is out here
Well, that makes more sense. I'll wait to see what happens and go from there.
Re: My Faves _The Truth is out here
I'm basing my comment on the figures given by djdanska.
Re: My Faves _The Truth is out here
Okay...hold the phone (no pun intended)!
This may not be such a great deal for people like me interested in the Blackberry Pearl if they're just going to do completely separate plans for "My Faves". The way I was figuring it, I could do the 1000 minute/month unlimited Blackberry plan for 59.99 and simply add the 10.00 charge to that plan making it 69.00/month. If I have to pay 59.99 for the 1000 minute "My Faves" plan and ...
Re: My Faves -Launch date and plans
SO this is what the rep was hinting at when I went to look at the 8100? I noticed the Pearl has a feature to display "My Faves" on it's main screen and you can scroll through 5 numbers via that interface. Guess that means it's compatible.
New T-Mobile Plans Coming in October?
I was in a local T-Mo corp. store the other day checking out the new BB 8100 :-)... and the rep informed me that new plans were going to be released at the beginning of October. Does anyone know if this is true and when, exactly, this may happen? I'm seriously leaning toward purchasing the Pearl and leaving Cingular, but if better plans are on the horizon, I will wait. Will any of these ...
Re: Where to buy MMC cards???
:D Thanks so much! I'll check it out!
Re: Verizon/Razr
unfortunately, wab, the OBEX profile will undoubtedly be omitted from ANYTHING that verizon approves. this isn't likely to change anytime soon as their corporate thinking is that most people only want bluetooth for wireless headsets and the like and nothing more.
as for it getting out by year's end, i just don't see it. having worked for verizon for some time, i can tell you that even if moto gets it up and running before December, verizon ...
Re: Where to buy MMC cards???
thanks a bunch mike!
Re: Where to buy MMC cards???
thank you for the info. what format should i be looking for to be compatible with this particular phone? i haven't gotten my 6230 yet because i just had to ship back my BB 7100g (decided it was too bulky and my company is giving me a laptop to check email remotely anyway).
thanks again!
Where to buy MMC cards???
Anyone have any good sources for quality MMC cards compatible with the 6230? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!
Re: Nokia 6230 Discontinued???
:) oh! well, i guess that could be good news then...who knows?! thanks for the insight! i was looking forward to upgrading my Cingular phone and that was the phone of choice for me.
Nokia 6230 Discontinued???
:? okay, just visited Cingular's site to see if there might be any info on the release of the 6230i and noticed that the 6230 has been removed from the available phone lineup. now this may be good (meaning they're bringing the 6230i to the table) or it may not. does anyone here know what the deal is?
Re: largest coverage?
not sure if i'm just misunderstanding you lara, but tri-mode phones pick up on 800mhz DIGITAL 1900mhz DIGITAL, AND 800mhz analog as a back-up source (hence, TRI-mode). the way you stated your remark leads me to believe you are somehow under the impression that you can only receive analog signals with a tri-mode phone (which is incorrect). pardon me, though, if i misunderstood your statement. :)
Re: Verizon baby!
well...first, i do believe that i stated that i love gadgets as much as anyone. i enjoy new technology. not once did i say i want a complete "no-frills" phone. i was also specifically talking about the .02% of the population that complains about "crippled" bluetooth which seems to be their only real beef with VZW and the fact that allowing such a "frill" to dictate one's perception of a wireless service provider is, imho, a ...
Re: Verizon baby!
lol! everyone's entitled to their own opinion i suppose, but that's about all i can say in regards to that. i love gadgets as much as anybody, but there's a point at which you cross the line from tech-savvy to tech-geek. worst episode EVER!
Re: Verizon baby!
yeah, especially considering files can be uploaded from your pc simply using the pixplace website media upload option. people who moan and groan about "ball-less bluetooth" are too concerned with the bells and whistles in my opinion. i think too many people have forgotten what a "phone" was intended to be about. i mean, don't get me wrong, extras are great, but they shouldn't really define your opinion of a cell company's primary service objective...reliable, quality ...
Re: Very Nice
actually, thank goodness it's running CDMA!
Re: 6230 w insurance....
gotcha! i figured that would be about right, but i wasn't sure. i didn't know if i should upgrade my cingular phone now or wait til the 6230i was available. i had seen someone else post here that they didn't think the 6230i would be released, but i'm hopeful that it will be. i appreciate your input!
Re: 6230 w insurance....
:) yeah, that's probably a reasonable guess. i agree that it will be a while before they're going to send you a 6230i in place of the 6230. by then, the next "big thing" will already be on the market so what's the point really? i am still curious as to whether the 6230i is even going to be released here for Cingular. i'm still a bit confused about the PTT feature that is supposedly ...
Re: 6230 w insurance....
posibly, but one of our current reps is a former Cingular rep and he said that Asurion is the same one they use and that they go through pretty much the same process. i've made a claim with Cingular before and had to have a phone shipped as well so i'm not sure about that.
Re: 6230 w insurance....
yeah, if you "break" it and try to make a claim, they're going to send you the same phone. Even though they might not carry it in the store anymore, the insurance company suppliers have stocks of them for people just like you. :D sorry to disappoint, but it really wouldn't be worth your time.
Re: Question about Nokia 6230
:D Cool! I appreciate your information. One other question I have is about the 6230i. Basically, I'm just curious as to whether or not this phone will even come out for Cingular (if anyone). Given that it has a push-to-talk capability, it seems highly unlikely that it will be released as Cingular isn't in any rush to release a push-to-talk service. I have a feeling they won't be releasing a phone with "dead" ...
Re: maybe it's a given but...
Ah, well pardon me for not knowing exactly who Rich is and not realizing the power he possesses. Oops on me.
And you can keep the change.
Re: maybe it's a given but...
Of course...if you only looked at the headline and didn't actually read the article....??? I guess I could understand the confusion...but really...why respond to the article if you didn't read it?
Re: maybe it's a given but...
Is it just me or did everybody miss the opening statement of the article???
"Panasonic has officially closed its U.S. mobile phone operations."
Please note the words MOBILE and PHONE appear in successive order in this sentence. I kinda took that to mean their "cell phone operations" had closed down. Just my .02 :D
Question about Nokia 6230
I was wondering if this phone has a problem with playing a full music ringtone? I had this problem with my Samsung s307 some time back where if you downloaded musictones from Cingular, they would only be a single verse repeated over and over (or maybe even two words!! ) while others with different phones could download the same tone from the Cingular site and it actually played a good full 2 verses of the same song. ...
Re: Moto e815
okay...trust me on one thing here. if you come in and want to renew your contract say....8 months after your NE2, no manager in their right mind is going to turn you away. fact is, customer retention comes first. don't pay attention to the site. it's very general and more of a technicality than anything else. hence the words "you may....". secondly, you will certainly not be charged "full retail price" no matter ...
Re: Don't expect it out anytime soon...
as is tated on the previous thread, we got the display model for this phone in our store last week and it should be available within the next two weeks for sure. just keep your eyes out. i've already played with it and it's pretty cool.
Re: Second week in April
well, yeah...you're wrong. i guess that's a good thing?? we already rec'd the non-working demo of this phone last week for the showroom and it should be available sometime either this week or the next.
Re: No way in hell...
Sorry, the link I posted didn't work so here it is again...my apologies! :D

No way in hell...
8O Judging by the looks of the article on Mobile Tracker (http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2005/0 4/07/nokia-8800-8801), this is going to be one hell of an over-priced, under-developed piece of equipment. I can agree that style is rather important, but paying the estimated price tag of $1000.00 should warrant serious improvements in functionality (I mean...a .5 megapixel cam for starters????). Anyone else think this is a bit pricey for a paper weight?
Re: Moto A630 Question...
:) Thanks a bunch! I figured Ebay was probably the best place to shop. I probably wouldn't do the A630 anyway just because of some of the compatibility issues people having been having with them using Cingular as opposed to the intended T-Mobile.
I appreciate your advice!
Re: Moto A630 Question...
:( Well, that's unfortunate. I was afraid that would be the case since it's been "tentative" for so long now. All the reviews I've read for the LG phone were worse than the Moto though. That Samsung seems like a nice gizmo though. I suppose we shall see. Thanks for the info!
I have noticed some "unlocked" Moto A630s for sale, but is there a good place (besides the store) to purchase such phones for ...
Moto A630 Question...
When will this phone be available for Cingular? Given I'm a VZW rep, but I still have service with Cingular as well and would be interested in this phone. It is still only available for T-Mobile in this area and I'm curious to know if it is already out for Cingular in other regions. If not, what is the ETA for Cingular? Also, does anyone have any better suggestions for a ohone with a built ...
