Re: Iphone 3gs vrs PRE

in the Sprint forum

It's true, the Pre is a sweet phone. But we had to return it because the coverage in my area for Sprint is not quite up to par. Sad really, the Pre is one heck of a phone. And if the speed test is true, that means Sprint's network is fast. But there just isn't the coverage I need in the Beach Cities of LA.

Good review. Makes me happy I didn't drop the 500 bones for the new one since I upgraded to 3.0 on my 3G and got most of the function. Quick question though. How did the battery life compare to the 3G? And of course, do you think Apple will bring the new polymer battery technology to the iPhone next year? I'm seriously going to wait till next year, as I suspect that it will ...

Well, I've given you truth. Whether you choose to try and understand it is up to you. I am not wrong nor did I misrepresent. You can turn the search around if you are trying to show success and get just as many articles talking about MMS being on the rise and being a success for the future. It just depends what type of search you are trying to do. I agree that IM ...

Again. Telling people with that don't want web services that they are wrong doesn't help. They are the majority. They want MMS, not web service. Telling them to work around the iPhone limitation is the wrong answer. At this point we, the iPhone owners must accept the limitation and be will to live without the MMS commerce with other people. They don't want the web service. They want the MMS. And ...

I have never really seen or played with the Storm, but my girlfriend got the Bold and I got the iPhone. I just wanted to try out the iPhone and see if I liked it. I was planning on returning it within the 30 day window. But the iPhone was so fun and cool, I couldn't take it back. I just kept finding new things to use it for. My girlfriends Bold just didn't ...

Let's remember that there are two sides to this formula. Everyone that has an iPhone and doesn't think it needs MMS because it has e-mail has a right to that opinion. But the percentages of overall cell phone use aren't in your favor. MMS is not falling, it's growing, regardless of what Apple says. It it were falling, then Telia and others wouldn't work so hard to get it on the iPhone. If it ...

What you are experiencing is called Electro Magnetic Interference or EMI. It is actually quite common for smartphones and some other cell phones to cause EMI with radio speakers, computer speaker, and other types of sound equipment. It isn't just AT&T, other cell companies have the same issue. And yes, it is usually the way the cell phone networks communicate with the phone that causes it. When I had a RAZR and KRZR, it didn't ...

Good question. Probably the same reason that the MMS application from O2 isn't offered in the US or why the modem/tehter app was pulled from the app store. In other words, call Steve Jobs and the president of AT&T. Of course, they wouldn't answer a direct question now as they are more political dictators now than people.

Ok, I finally decided to try it and what can I say, I haven't been able to stop playing with it since I got it. The MMS sending is a non-issue, I can send them to MMS phones via the e-mail function, I just can't receive them, which doesn't break my heart. The display is amazing. Reminds me of when I got my RAZR after my V60, wow. The ipod function is great. The ...

True enough on the MMS, it's a pain, but it works. The OS issue, well I agree with the mobile windows being garbage, but the Palm OS is quite delightful and I could go either way between apple or palm from an OS point of view.

My understanding is that at one time there was an app, but it was pulled from the app store. No specifics were given as fact, but opinion/rumor stated that AT&T felt it would take up bandwidth and put the nix on it. I don't really know the true fact.

Personally, I haven't been buying into the hype. Yes it's beatiful, no doubt. Colorful screens, sleek lines, the apple symbol. And no, I am not an apple fan. I have disliked apples since I became an engineer. But I have always acknowledged their user friendly interface. That being said, I have been a Motorola fan for years (please no digs on this one). However, I really never got into the "smartphone" craze. ...

I can respect your opinion on the matter. But I still love Moto. I have been using Moto phones for 10 years now and never have problems with them. I tried nokia and samsung, but they were never as good as my Moto phones, so I stick to Moto. I guess I must be part Irish. I'm just luck with the Moto phones I have had (i1000 plus, V60, T722i, and the V3). ...

It's true to some extent, but it's actually in the K band levels it gets bad. The L Band levels (850 to 1900) are not as good as the S Band levels (2000 to 3000). That was from my collegue, that I trust since he is my RF Engineer.

To be honest, 850, 900, and 1900 are all the same to me. So far, we don't have the 850 out here in my area and I doubt it will help much because they are line of sight bands that have a hard time making it into buildings. I was talking with one of engineering collegues and he says that if we get into the new 2 GHz band (I believe that it will be 2100 MHz), ...

It would still be Moto because even running what ever Verizon software is required, the poor make of the phone is still on the Manufacturer. But I can see where you would think Verizon was the issue. :)

For you, I am happy. But there are a lot of unhappy chappys on here. And from description, it sounds like moto oopsed on at least the phones those guys were getting. Like I said, I love my GSM RAZR and it doesn't have all the functionality of the one you guys have.

Your opinion is a good one, I don't have any issue with it. Price wise you are correct, but for many reasons, the BB really wouldn't be the best choice for me.

Ya, but I don't like BB. The V3 was 99 for one year. I didn't want a two year because of issues with my employment as a contractor. When times get tough I don't need to be locked into something I can't afford. If I had done a two year, it would have been 50 bucks. I still wouldn't have gotten a BB just because I don't really like them or smart phones.

I have the old GSM V3 and I know that mine is great construction, even better than my old V60. It's solid and no loose parts. Makes me wonder what happened when they created the CDMA RAZR. The only thing I really don't like about the RAZR is that it is real thick and you have to position the receiver end just right to hear from it. But since I use BT 90% of the ...

Nicely done. I ended up just settling for the V3. Besides, I didn't need all the functions that the T809 has, I may have liked all of them, but all I really needed was the BT. And the price on the RAZR was great.

Have you tried this guys suggestion for MP3 ring tones for the T809? https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_ forum.php?fm=m&ff=813&fi=467997 And what's the big deal with not having voice dial? If that was the one thing a phone didn't have could you live without it. I know my dad loves voice dial and it's one of his requirements. Just wondering. :)

Under tools, go to folder options, then go to view, make sure hide file extensions is not checked. Your file extension will be visible after that, then just single click on the file in explorer, wait a split second and click on the file name again, this will give you the ability to change the name and file extension or just one or the other. Or you could just right click on the file and select rename to ...

True, but Verizon and Nextel seem to work the best there. Then Cingular. And T-Mobile and Sprint seem to be about equal there. The biggest problem for improvement in PV is trying to get the residents to allow more towers, which they are against. But they love to complain that their connection sucks...
