Re: How do you change fonts?

Ok, after a little research, I found out that all you have to do is rename the fonts dir (ie fonts1) and restart phone.

in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

Well, I tried to uninstall and the theme wasn't listed in the App Manager. I went ahead and deleted by going to the themes listing. However, the font wasn't changed. Finally, I used FExplorer to try and delete the font. But it will not allow me to, because it states that the font is currently in use. Ugh! Is the reset to original settings feature my only option? Or will that do nothing to help me?

I installed a theme that installed a different font as well. Is there anyway to retrieve the original font?

Missed calls, email, text messages alert?
Mar 22, 2006, 1:03 PM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

Does this phone have an alert to tell you you've missed a call, have an email, or have a text message? Like a beeping sound or something. If not, is there additional software that will do this? TIA.

Phone not giving new app access to network. Need help.
Mar 3, 2006, 3:13 PM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

I've installed an app that requires access to the network in order to send reports via email. However every time I try sending the report, the phone responds with 'Security Error. Network access is not permitted. Please check the security settings.' Tech support had me go into the App Manager and change the settings for network access for the app to 'Ask every time'. This didn't work. Does anyone know anything else I can configure on the phone that will allow ...

Re: Update on New Firmware??
Mar 3, 2006, 3:05 PM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

Have not had any issues with new firmware, however it (the phone) rebooted itself last night. Hopefully it was something I did and not the phone acting up. First time its done that tho. Also, have had my 1gb from Kingston for a couple weeks now and have had no problems. Sure you got a dual voltage card?

Re: Themes?
Feb 16, 2006, 8:48 PM

Hmmm? I use Zedge as well, for my 6682 and have DL the themes for 6681. I simply DL the file to my PC. Connect my phone. Open up the Nokia PC Suite. Use the install applications option, and then finish the install on the phone. After the install is complete, I go into 'themes' on the phone and the new ones are listed. Have never had any problems. If you've done the above, then I don't know what the ...

Re: Wallpaper help needed!

in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

Well, I did a little research and found this, http://www.dakkustudios.co.uk/forum/ viewtopic.php?t=20 Apparently the 6630 has an issue similar to what's happening with my 6682. When setting a pic as wallpaper, the 6682 doesn't convert the pic correctly and leaves a 1 pixel border on the left and right side of the image. This results in the distorted (blurry) image. I've resized an image to exactly 174 x 144 (6682 wallpaper size) and still get the 1 pixel border when setting as wallpaper. Oh well, ...

Wallpaper help needed!
Feb 8, 2006, 9:46 PM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

I've uploaded photos using the Nokia PC suite included with the phone and can view them on the phone w/o problems. However, when I set a photo as wallpaper, the image isn't as clear or sharp as when viewing in the gallery (on the phone). I've tried resizing the pic, but nothing seems to be working. The wallpaper image is always blurry. Any suggestions? Or is my phone screwed?

Re: how thin??
Feb 1, 2006, 6:33 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Well, just came back from Cingular to see the phone for myself. It is very attractive and THIN! The design is definitely its main selling point. As far as features go, it's basically a thin ROKR. I wanted to really see Moto add something different. Other than the hot-swappable mem card feature, the phone is simply a ROKR in another housing. To add insult to injury, Moto decided to keep the camera VGA? And w/o the flash? No edge? I ...

Scratches! Can they be removed?
Jan 11, 2006, 11:22 AM

Anyone use products, such as Displex, that's suppose to remove scratches on the display. I've gotten a few visible scratches for some reason, by using a cloth that's suppose to prevent scratches. Sigh. Also, anyone recommend any screen protectors that custom fit the ROKR? Thanks for any help given. Here's a link to the product Displex, btw. http://www.marquel.com/store/DISPLinfo.sh tml

Re: ok...i'm an idiot - how to move pics to trans card from phone mem
Jan 4, 2006, 2:42 PM

goto pics on your phone. select a pic. hit the menu button (3rd button, next to itunes button). scroll down and select move. you should then see 2 options, trans or bluetooth. select trans. hope that helps.

On your phone, if the message 'do not disconnect' still appears after transferring your vids or pics, just click exit (on your phone). Navigate thru the phone to see if your pics or vids were transferred, if so, just disconnect.

if you're transferring pics using the usb cable, you have to make sure you move those pics to the trans card from the phone mem. you aren't gonna see the pics if stored on the phone mem. also, the pics take a few seconds to generate a preview on your pc, since the usb isn't 2.0 hope that helps.

Hey, thanks for the help. Yeah, I had to delete each sim contact. Ugh! There's gotta be a way to save contacts on the sim, without showing it as an identical entry. I will try to find out a way, if one exists. Lol.

This has worked for me. Contacts saved to phone, BTW. Here's how. Access your phone book, then the phone book menu, scroll up or down til you see 'setup', access 'setup', then scroll to 'view', access 'view', changed from All Contacts to Primary Contacts.

Need help with phonebook!

Ok, I've looked in this forum but haven't found a thing. Unless I missed something. Right now all my contacts are stored on the phone memory. When I chose to copy all to sim, there is now an identical entry for each contact. I've done the method to have multiple numbers/email per contact and to ONLY show primary contacts, allowing me to use the stick to move left or right, showing the additional numbers or email info. But now I have ...

I thought that you can opt for insurance anytime. I forgot the monthly fee, but I had done it before. I've lost a phone in the past and went into the Cingular store to get a replacement, the employee asked if I had insurance. I said no, but then added it when I bought the replacement. I think there is a $50 deductible tho. Don't know if this is what you are looking for.

Using my PC, I use Mobile Phone Tools. It can be found here, http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motorola/v3/buy /eng/selector.htm The software is awesome. It let's you edit MP3s, allowing you to do almost anything. I cut up MP3s, choose a section I want as a ringtone, and transfer to my phone. Seems to transfer to the correct area, too. Not the trans flash, but to the phone mem. OR it may have been my phone was set to store to phone mem. Just got the ...

Re: v3 or the rokr
Dec 8, 2005, 11:11 PM
in the Motorola ROKR E1 forum

Really depends on what you want in a cell phone. The RKOR is an excellent music player. It really shines in that department. The built in speakers are excellent (very loud!) and the included ear phones are definitely not generic. The v3 is also an excellent phone. Its unique design along with it's features are superb. I was thinking bout gettin the v3, but the width is a little too wide for me, BUT it is so thin. If you ...

Do you mean your phone's screens were just a blue color (unable to do anything) or the phone completely turned off (black screen). Because, I went through 3 phones before getting one that didn't get me the blue screen of death. When the blue screen happened, the only way to power the phone back was to remove the batt. I was still within my 30 day limit, so Cingular just kept replacing the ones that were getting me the blue ...

"Unlike Moto you can't have your own message ring tones, Sony has 6 installed and you have no choice." Actually you get 8 choices, including click or no sound. BUT 6 is plenty. I'm not into hearing the latest song on the radio, when I receive a text message. One alarm? If you setup an appointment in the calendar, it in turn will be an alarm. 10 appts = 10 alarms. Transferring files an all day project? Never been easier for me. If ...

Reading text messages from the external simply doesn't work.
Feb 7, 2005, 9:41 PM

I have no idea how a few people are able to do it, but I went to the sonyericsson.com site and found this. "This phone does not support viewing messages from the external display. Sony Ericsson is aware this is a desirable feature on clamshell phones and is exploring this for future models." Go to this link, http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc= en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&p id=10138, click knowledge base, type in text messages, click on search. The above statement will be located. Like I said, I have no idea how ...

Well, I called the support number you provided and they said that there wasn't a high number of calls regarding the blue screen issue. He suggested that I take back the phone since I was still within the 30 day limit. Went to Cingular, asked if many people were returning the phone because of the blue screen issue, and the lady answered no. She claims to have sold a bunch of these phones without a single person returning one. I ...

Thanks for doing the research. I love this phone, but I'm on my second one, because of the blue screen malfunction problem. The 1st I returned, but now my second one is experiencing the same problem. Where can I confirm this information about the firmware issue, so when I talk to Cingular, I can direct them to the info? Thanks.

You can buy any phone at retail price, WITHOUT touching your contract. The z500a sells for $180, retail. Now if you want to buy the phone at a cheaper price, then you have to renew your contract for 2 more years. This is with Cingular, BTW.

I agree! The z500a is an awesome phone. My buddy has the v551 and think that phone is great as well. BUT, opted for the z500a. Features galore here. I don't know why people complain about it's size, but it just feels natural to hold and use, imo. I've had much smaller phones, but smaller isn't always better. I always felt uncomfortable speaking into a stick of gum sized phone. Bluetooth isn't a necessity. Sure, wireless earpieces are convenient at times, ...
