The point of my post is that the Q10 does not require 100% swiping!! There are tons of Q10 specific keyboard shortcuts to get things done just as they had in the past.
For the first week I had my Z10 I found the lack of a home button a little strange too. I am now glad its gone and find our apple products with home buttons around here a little annoying. Even though apple makes it fun, it ...
Re: Not impressed.
A 4 inch screen coupled with a physical QWERTY type keyboard would be approaching phablet territory in terms of size.
Those that want actual keyboards know the tradeoffs. The whole point of getting the Q10 would be the keyboard and the advantages it gives those particular people.
A little hard on it
I think you are being a little hard on this device. There are still people out there that cant stand the frustrations of virtual keyboards for whatever they do. Maybe they pound out tons of emails or have fat fingers or long fingernails.
Comparing the Q10 to a pixi or a pre isn't really that reasonable from any angle either. From a hardware standpoint, they were both horrible and almost embarrassing produced by a company that had no cash to ...

'the race to the bottom' in pricing is not the path to prosperity...but rather the reverse.
This is so true in many industries. You used the fast food restaurant example...every time one starts a coupon/discount dollar menu war, others follow suit. Later when quarterly results are announced. The bottom line is hurt every time.
They do this over and over again to bring foot traffic through the door in hopes that they stay.
So a lower priced carrier has to ...
Re: Smokes iphone in speed, even on the internet LTE!
Congratulations!
We have iPhones, iPads, and my Z10 around here. Still enough apps on the Blackberry for a great many purposes.
Angry Birds, Spiderman, for the kids keeps them busy when we are out sometimes.
I always buy Blackberries for their communications abilities because for me its business first and play time 2nd. This is where they excel and blow the competition away.

But it also means that they don't have to stick with Blackberry to keep that functionality. If BBM becomes cross-platform, then why stay with Blackberry for your device?
I wonder how many would buy a smartphone just for BBM though at this point. Maybe in certain markets like the UK or in corporate environments, but if you take the US market for example where Blackberry has been pounded I can see cross platform compatibility being nothing but a ...

I was part of that market research and responded very positively to the suggestion, as I think most people did.
Thank you!
For me this makes BBM useful and relevant. I wouldn't use it otherwise.

Haven't found a way to delete an email without first opening it. Kind of annoying even though it may only be an extra touch from my storm one. And no way to highlight and delete multiple emails at a time.
To delete one email without opening it, just touch on it and hold it for more than 2 seconds. The trash icon will show up. Something they went to in OS7 when they ditched the storms.

Got one today. I'm finding my way around. But there are some things that have me stumped. I can't find a way to set auto on/off times. And I haven't been able to assign a picture to a contact. I found a place to do it, but it doesn't seem to be able to find my pictures even though I can see them through the pictures function.
Also, I got the Otter Box case. ...

This thing make the Storm ! look like a tin can with strings attached to it
I have a list of things I need to look up online so I can get better at using this thing. You can't pick it up and be an expert on it within minutes like an iPhone. Its heavily gesture based.
Battery life will be put to the test today. I downloaded Angry birds star wars and my 4 year old won't let ...
Have one!
I like it! But like all blackberries before it, its going to take some time to master!
When you turn this thing on it at least teaches you a couple of basic gestures to use before you get too far with it so you aren't going WTH?
Everything feels different. The only obvious similarity between OS 10 and anything before it is when you get into the settings. A little bit of familiarity there.
Email was simple to set up. It somehow ...

Thats what I am hoping. This is a radically different OS.
CS didn't know what they were talking about. Got an email saying it shipped and will be here tomorrow :D
Business accounts are sometimes frustrating...If you order through your rep, the order doesn't track on the website. Have to call sometimes to find out things.
Re: Pre-orders for the Blackberry z10 is on!!!!
Had to call Verizon CS to ask when I would be receiving it. Will be shipped 3/28. Probably will get it the next day. It rarely takes them 2 days to ship phones here anyway.
I am happy :D

It's pre-ordered. Looks like the release date is the 28th on Verizon. Not sure yet if it will arrive on or after that date.
Been looking forward to this phone since time began

Going to try to order mine tomorrow :D

Started off my week the best way possible..a good laugh.
Thanks!
Great points
Thanks for pointing this out to everyone!
Its probably something that isn't well known to the masses.
At several points in my life I have worked in areas that normal cell phones are not allowed for this reason. One of them was an oil refinery. Another was a company that did research in the aerospace industry. They take no chances in those environments and that is what something like this would be for.
In both instances, all cell phone possession or use ...

Tomorrow morning they could drop a bombshell with a total OS revamp. No one would ever see it coming with how secretive they are.
There is also that lingering question in everyones minds about Apple in a post Steve Jobs era. Every time they tried anything without him, ...
Re: What a lose :(
Market share has never been the primary concern for Apple in any of its products. Profit margins (which are crazy) are.
They make tons of money.
Android has the formula for market share
whats being overlooked here

Blackberry is testing the waters first to see if they can win back US market share. I dont think they can survive with WP or Nokia type market share so then they will look at other options. Selling the hardware division would be first.
There is a big difference between the two terms "market share" and "profitability".
You can very much have a small share of a market and be profitable if the company behind it is efficient ...
In a different time...
We used to have to pay these prices two decades ago for the privelege of owning motorola microtacs and transportable phones that were as big as briefcases.
The equipment got better, but pricing has held with these guys.

in 7.1 it actually shuts down a battery draining app for you and then tells you what it did.
Its done this at least twice with me so far.

Same here. OS7 seems to at least tell you which app was the issue too.

Inability to play well with Macs is a severe issue that should have been resolved LONG before they came out with this OS.
It was resolved long ago. The only real issues I have had with the Mac software since it was introduced was its inability to put hacked unofficial operating stems on Blackberries. Hardly something most people would or should be doing anyway.
what issues are you having with it?
Re: What a lose :(
Google has always been a little elusive in the past with revealing what it actually made on Android leading people to speculate that it was actually losing money on it.
Its such a widely used platform now that you would think it has all changed. I am just not aware of it.
Its actually a bit frightening thinking about what this company knows about its users and how it can use the info to give them a better experience on ...
Re: What a lose :(
Good points!
All of Apples products are set up with high profit margins. They really don't care as much about market share as you might think. Even rumors of cheap iPhones have been partially responsible for driving down its stock price as of late because cheap iPhones mean lower profit margins and less money coming in. I think they will stay a "premium" brand so to speak.

If he can come up with a rational answer why Japan should be denied it's crackberry fix...
In his world, Android is probably "good" Apple is "evil" and all others are irrelevant.
Yea, hes trolling. I would just like to know why his choice of OS is the perfect one for all of us and our choices that work best for us aren't. Trolls can never answer those questions well.

Re: hoping..
The reasoning Blackberry has behind the lack of a traditional home screen sounds great. A lot of people go from one app to another so why close out, take extra steps and go back to a home screen and take extra steps to find another?
In practice, Eric didn't like it. I can see where it will probably cause frustration. May be good for IOS users that cant stand looking through multiple home pages to find an app. IOS is ...

Re: Not by a long shot
I remember the 755P. That was my first smartphone. The OS was simple. It came from Verizon with an annoying blinking red light that could not be shut off without downloading a third party app. I chose it over the blackberry because I couldn't stand their scroll wheel navigation in the side of the device.
I actually loved the 755P.

Why does anybody expect anything to be 100% complete at launch?
I agree. This won't be and most anything from anyone else wasn't either. Since BB10 has been delayed, one would hope there will be fewer issues and fewer "half baked" or "not ready for prime time" comments.
Any early adopter no matter what product you buy needs to accept some of this anyway.
