I'm not even an employee, but after reading here and on Hofo I have to ask. Wasn't there some disclaimer about the contest ending either the end of March of end of April, and that all prizes would be mailed within a few weeks after the contest end date? Just curious.

More than likely the OS will STOP DEAD on boot once it realizes a non-Cingular SIM is installed. Without the subsidy unlock code, you'll be out of luck.

I bought the Treo 650 instead, screw the a630...it'll almost be a year old once it comes out on Cingular. I don't want to buy yesterday's technology for what is sure to be a premium price.

The 21st will have to be the day, as my 30 days runs out on the 28th. I'll have to make the decision about what to exchange the F9100 for, by Tuesday. I suppose if the phone doesn't launch I'll be looking at something completely different. :?

dogear said: I heard two things. Keep in mind it's just hearsay. One is they found one more bug and are fixing it and the second rumor that I've heard is that T-Mobile has exclusive rights to this phone for three months. Either way logically the phone could launch by the end of February. IMHO, I don't buy the bug comment, Cingular can nit pick a phone until it is pointless to bother with a release at all. ...

Well...maybe tomorrow is our lucky day! I tend to pay attention to the dates for the promo phones listed on the front page of cingular.com. When you click on the promo image it shows a 'valid' date on the top of the page. It seems that sometimes the launch of new phones coincides with the end/beginning date of a phone promo. Not scientific by any means, but it gives me something to look forward to ...

FYI: I posted a review here on PS, under the LG 9100, for the phone and in a nutshell I gave it two stars. It's going back before my 30 days is up...hopefully to be exchanged for an a630. ~ Visit my BLOG! http://www.soulorbit.com

This is something I mentioned in my user review, purely stupid if you ask me! BUT, considering Cingular's knack for f*ing up stable OS' with software revisions, I am more inclined to say a revision would be a bad idea at this point. Obviously having the trendforce crowd review the phones isn't always the best way to go, with any phone, as most likely they wouldn't notice something like this, or more likely would notice but forget ...

ACTUALLY, according to a post on HOFO, the a630 IS on the price sheet. Someone also posted the image index on Cingular's site showing that both the TREO 650 and a630 images as being uploaded at the same time (01/26/05). That doesn't have anything to do with it being on the price sheet or not, but it shows the phone is closer to launch than I had previously thought. Here is an exerpt of the post ...

If, and when, one converts to Orange, the 'old' way goes away instantly. I'm not disputing that Blue may still be offering the FAN discounts as before, but I've been told that will be soon end. ~ Visit my BLOG! http://www.soulorbit.com

Old-style ATTWS FAN discounts are now officially gone, replaced by your choice of contract pricing (same as consumer) OR 50% off (non-subsidized) FULL retail. ~ Visit my BLOG! http://www.soulorbit.com

Thanks for the info, albeit disappointing, I suppose I'll pray for a release before the 30-day exchange window on my LG F9100 runs out.

Not so sure...have heard from a few different sources that the OS on the a630 is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than the F9100. I ordered the 9100 anyway, lack of bluetooth sucks, but I will see how I like it, if I don't and the a630 is out before the end of Feb (I've heard perhaps end of this week, early next) then I can always exchange them.

 How hilarious! ...and Motorola says they released the phone to Cingular well more than two weeks ago. Wonder what the problem is...perhaps Cingular can't decide what color of sticker to put on the box?
