Re: WiFi +
But it's also $50 more than what AT&T/Sprint charges... *sniffle*
Re: Same Chipset?
I think this is all BS cuz alot of entry level handsets hit release date on time... I'm sure they don't want to divert sales of the iphone until verizon releases the storm then they'll launch it and say "hey, we have a new blackberry too!"
MVNO
so does this make sprint a major MVNO!? :o
This goes to show...
Unfortunately, this goes to show that people would complain about anything and everything. T-Mobile tried to put a soft cap so their network doesn't get congested and we cry outraged, the blue network doesn't cap their 3G for their touch screen device and we cry uber-fail network due to over congestion... Hats off to these providers anyway whether they listen or not to ALL of our cries. Put an android or dread I say "iPhone" on one of ...
Re: rethink?
You DO know that the blackberry plans are the same price as the new iphone plans right? minus the included txt msg allotments also! So you'd already be paying more for the curve...
Re: Depends on your interpretation of "better"
This is by far no iphone killer... I've used the phone and I'm unimpressed, the user interface is just not fluid... I've also had a few issues of delayed response and freezing when multi tasking i.e. receiving a phone call while browsing email etc. I don't even own an iphone and by far a fanboy before ppl start to get all offended by it IS a hard handset to beat.
Re: So..
And the guy in NY, NJ, etc. agrees to disagree with you... to each his own, depending where you are right? lol

Re: "Heavily Modified for Verizon" Say goodbye to 3/4 of the features.
Back in the days must be a ways a ago!
Re: I thought sprint had Sprint Mobile Email...
I don't think that's actually push, that's like AT&T Xpressmail which may appear to be push but in actuality it's checking every few minutes/30 seconds but it appears to be push since it has a new mail indicator. Try sending an e-mail to yourself a few times to count the intervals.
Re: Good!
It's even worse in CA, on top of paying high tax on the bill we also pay tax on the full retail price of a handset not tax on the 2yr discounted price... regulation 1585, tsk tsk.
Re: dont do this :(
they should just allow data usage for mobile phones on airlines, less disruptive and ppl can still sms/messenger/e-mail/browse in peace etc. ;)
I've used it
I tested a beta of this and I'm sorry fellas but it doesn't even come close to an iphone (disclosure: i do not own an iphone nor am i an apple fanboy, i don't even own an ipod but i have tested an iphone)... The browser is terrible, the touch can be somewhat unresponsive (maybe it just delayed/stuck often cause of a slow processor), the gps worked, the UI is bland and boring... But hey, you don't have to ...
Re: Like I said..
I think it's live instead of prerecorded though...
Re: Why does it seem to always be wifi verses gps
probably to keep it affordable 8O . The 8820 for AT&T has both wifi and gps w/ no camera and it's significantly more expensive than the curve or pearl.
Re: Really?
Ya have to admit though that the software runs oh so smooth, I don't own an iPhone either but after numberous pda handsets all of my windows mobile devices and palm devices have lagged, crashed, froze, and given me a boatload of frustration. My blackberry is probably the most stable of that bunch but my cousin's iPhone has almost NEVER slowed down and the iPod portion (although it doesn't support a wide variety of formats) is also unmatched ...
AT&T WiFi Coverage
Weren't we all just giggling about AT&T's limited WiFi coverage earlier this month!?
Re: Just downloaded it and WOW
opera mini is free, opera for windows mobile is not :D just a clarification!
Re: How is this unlawful?
For the sake of example... Nokia N75 Unlocked = $399.99 (www.nokiausa.com), AT&T Subsidized N75 = $349.99 ($199.99 w/ 2YR Contract)... AT&T will unlock a handset if (a) was purchased @ retail cost (so AT&T is already giving you a deal from Nokia, you just have to be a customer and call in to get the subsidy pw) or (b) if you're in contract, you must fulfill @ least 90 days of service with them... Alot of ppl don't understand ...
MMS?
"It allows you to attach a vocal message to a picture message before sending it" - isn't that the same thing as MMS? Cause I can do this with my plain jane handset 8O
Re: finally
it's not that we're last to see them for no reason.. what's the 1st thing a consumer asks when they walk into a mobile phone store ready to either sign up for new service or renewing their contract.. hrmm... which phone is FREE! The European/Asian markets are willing to pay top dollar for top models, we simply.. just aren't unfortunately therefore mobile operators supply by demand (cheap/entry level handsets for the majority of their inventory).
Re: furthermore
AT&T has had this for years, even before they got rid of 1yr contract pricing. 2yr contract with handset discount... no contract for postpaid plans provided you pass credit check and have your own equipment.
Re: what!?
westfield's san francisco centre ;)
Re: High Hopes...
they'll probably do what they did to the curve, AT&T will have the GPS version and T-Mobile will get the wifi counterpart but not both for either company.
Wow, people will find any reason to complain/hate...
"omg, price too steep for what it lacks"
"omg, price dropped! there must be something wrong"
why don't we just enjoy the price cut, if there was something crucially wrong with the device it would have been found by now by joe blow or all of the hackers/crackers and lip smackers out there! lol, maybe it's just for the holiday season to up sales... next thing you know everyone will be back complaining again when they raise the price after the ...
Re: Yeah, thas' great an' everything but...
I've noticed ALOT more 3G coverage or at least here in the bay area, there used to be pockets like whoa but everywhere i go is now covered so AT&T has at least 1 happy 3g user!
Re: Hotmail
? how come microsoft allows hotmail access to all of at&t's built-in mobile e-mail clients? i'm sure this could have been possible with t-mobile's...
Re: 850 DOESN'T equal Cingular!!!
SE W810i in stores w/ 2mp cam ;/
Re: Availability?
The V3i is actually due out august, it's not delayed til oct. Cingular has just been making so much $ from the current V3's that it's no point for them to pay more for the V3i when they can get the original at dirt cheap and still charge a buck fifty ($150).
Re: Hahahaha....
Telephia and Global Wireless Solutions ;p unlike VZW's self proclaimed "best most reliable wireless network :)"
Re: Hahahaha....
As far as CDMA vs. GSM goes in the SF Bay Area with the recent decline in VZW's tri-mode handsets their "network" hasn't been as "reliable" as it used to be, my friend works for VZW COR in daly city and she doesn't have reception in her own store! Cingular however does pretty well out here and even along the coast from Santa Rosa area to Monterey, etc. T-Mobile is GSM also but they're coverage is really lacking ...
Re: VERIZON DOES NOT 'PUT OUT' THE PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually VZW DOES choose which handsets they decide to carry, just like which cable modem and recievers your cable company decides to lease/carry :) They don't manufacture them but they sure do have a say in what's gonna hit the sales floor!
Re: Coming to T-Mobile USA?
according to some of cingular's data staff the W810i and W300 are most likely be the next SE's besides the Z525a to hit the market for cingular. of course it's all rumour but this is the same staff that has had cingular branded v3i for the past 2 months while the phone is still not launched :)
Re: Wizard finally has UMTS!!!
it's not difficult for Cingular (or any other major wireless company) to launch new services/technology as long as everything is going good in the test markets... they just want to make sure that there are the least amount of issues affiliated with the technology before launch. Look at sprint/verizon with ev-do, after a few months in test market it was easy for them to do a nationwide launch when it was ready.
Re: bare with me I'm trying to learn
Yep, Cingular's HSDPA is already rolling... just the equipment isn't launched yet, the first hsdpa handset i believe is going to be the samsung zx20 (same as zx10 but w/ hsdpa) and the novatel pc card, the current umts sierra card which i've used in the bay area already does a pretty darn good job and i can't wait til the hsdpa models are launched.
Re: How original!
Which is even MORE of a headache :) Software for current moto's is bad but at least it's customizable!
Re: video WILL work on 2G handsets
Alot of ppl would beg to differ, since the latest dual mode only phones are giving cust's lack of reception which they were used to when tri-mode phones were a plenty.
Re: video WILL work on 2G handsets
No problem w/ that since all of cingular's 3g phones are compatible w/ their 2g network :) Then when 3g rolls around in your area you'd be all set to go! 3g is blazing in the bay area right now, i'm loving it... just gotta wait for the nicer phones to be launched, this samsung is ugh but no problems with the sierra umts card yet.
Re: Cingular bound....ptt
The Moto V557 is out and that has camera and PTT, I have a feeling Cingular's PTT will do pretty good since it has an expanded coverage area vs. other carrier's PTT (even though it doesn't connect as fast as nextel's yet) and also almost all of the new upcoming Cingular phones will have PTT capability even if the user decides not to subscribe to the feature.
Re: to nextel18
The D357 and V557 are around the corner! :)
Re: PTT facts for Big Orange
In terms of PTT on GPRS (which that feb 04 forbes article is heavy on) of course voip latency will be slower than Nextel but Cingular is already close to launching UMTS (limited cities in 2006, and full launch in 2007). The majority of those articles posted refer mainly to 2/2.5 GPRS/EDGE, once UMTS launches (already testing in my area; SF Bay Area), it's gonna crush Sprint-Nextel. Plus GSM voice quality definitely a must...
