That should be criminal in this day and age. Especially with many apps being unable to run from an SD card. 4gb of user memory gets filled up with Facebook and Chrome updates withing 3-4 months -.-

It's time these companies decide which standard is actually better, and go with it. We need this to be industry standard so it can move forward. It's kinda sad, but I think whichever one Apple decides to support will probably win this battle.

The $25 plan has no data at all though. You can still activate it yourself and use it in a smartphone, and then only have data access via wifi.

The other commenter has one stance that's very black/white. There's a lot of grey when it comes to "Gov't in my _____". There's lots of areas where government oversight and intervention has been mutually beneficial to the consumer and the industry. Sometimes just the industry benefits (copyright law), other times just the consumer does. In this particular case, Consumers benefit more directly, and certain affixed industries (content delivery IE: Netflix) benefit greatly. Industry doesn't really benefit directly at this time, ...

Re: Reduce Competition?

That doesn't apply here, since in this case (in most places) there is quite literally no competition because these companies have exclusive line contracts devised before Starting a municipal was considered realistic. These were designed to give providers reason to invest in long term infrastructure upgrades to the benefit of all. Now that the majority have declined to do so, reclassification is the best option to ensure other companies can start up with fewer ways for the elephant in ...

Reduce Competition?

in the Article: FCC Commissioner Pai Breaks Rank, Rails Against Net Neutrality forum

Not sure exactly how you can "reduce competition" in an environment where 4 mega corps hold all the consumers. All 4 of those companies are "too big to fail" to the point where they wouldn't let 2 of them merge. For the wireless side anyway. More importantly is the wired side broadband. We have 1-2 providers per area, with 0 competition in most cases. Please. REDUCE COMPETITION BELOW 0.

While you're reading the headline and summary correctly...the likelyhood of there being huge loopholes for "data management" is high.

The problem lies in that they advertise specifically the size of their devices as storage space. Things like " this device's 16gb of storage can hold x hours of HD video!" when in reality, you don't have 16gb of storage space for HD video, and as such saying you can hold that much is a blatant falsification of advertising.

$25/Month plan

They also have a nice $25 Unlimited talk/text no data plan that works great too. Doesn't get reduced by auto-pay though. I grabbed that and a freedompop for the occasional roaming data use :P

He means competing with Straight Talk/TracFone for that $45/month plan. It would be nice if they went REALLY disruptive and did something like $10/mo for Calls/Texts and $20/mo with a gig of (3g even) data.

Not to mention that that incredible deal, doesn't even check if the phone is still active or on a suspended account. Both of which are WAY more common than an actual stolen device.

 Is getting pretty terrible. It's annoying, and confusing for customers. "I need a case for an HTC One" "Which One do you have Sir? The One, One S, One V, One X, One XL?" Now also Desire? Desire HD? Desire 2014? Gah tired of it.

Axiom woes

in the Article: Hands-On: Samsung Galaxy S III Mini forum

Any news on whether this version of the S3 Mini has the same issues as the Galaxy Axiom CDMA version released last year? I see lots of minor software issues repeatedly pop up on these phones which drove the demand for them into the ground quickly. Things like contacts disappearing, proximity sensors not activating fast enough, and just general "quirks"
