How is the call quality?
Jul 1, 2010, 3:29 PM
in the Apple iPhone 4 (GSM) forum

I am in the process of porting my number from Verizon to AT&T and am waiting on my iphone 4. I have read the reviews and everyone talks about all the great things the phone does but not too much about call quality. How is the call quality or clarity? I live in the Atlanta area if that helps. Thank you.

Is this phone worth switching from Verizon?

For those of you who have switched from Verizon to AT&T for this phone, is it worth it? I am in the Atlanta area. Thank you.

in the Apple iPhone 3GS forum

Thank you bigack, I appreciate the information. It gets kind of confusing when some of the stuff I read says great phone but not good on the AT&T network. Millions of these Iphones are being sold so somebody is using them and the only network is AT&T for now. Verizon has great coverage, I never drop calls but their phone line up is not to my liking. Being a Mac guy pushes me towards it as well. Thanks again.

Call quality and reception?
Jul 29, 2009, 10:22 AM
in the Apple iPhone 3GS forum

I am considering getting the Iphone 3Gs and have read quite a few reviews. Most of the reviews I have read do not talk about the quality of the calls or the reception. How is the actual call quality of the phone? How is the reception of the phone? I need it to be a good phone first. I live in Georgia, metro Atlanta and am currently with Verizon. I am also a Mac guy. Thanks for any help.

Re: Buying the service plan for emailing etc.
Jul 26, 2008, 6:38 AM
in the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 forum

I am sure it is not necessary as other carriers (T-Mobile) allows for usage without a data plan but Verizon does not allow it. The least expensive data plan is $30.00. The plan is nice if you want personal email and usage of the internet. It has good pda features if you need them. If you need to get your corporate email then it is around $50.00 a month.

It can sync with a Mac with a little help. Gooogle Mark Space. It is syncing software for Blackberries and Macs as well as other phones and works really well. You can sync with Ical as well as the address book, photos etc. Take a look. It is very reasonable as well. I have it and use it, works great. Good luck.

Go to www.t9.com It has a great tutorial you can play with. "Word" from LG is t9. Good luck but you won't need it, it is very easy once you learn it.

Re: Speakerphone?
May 22, 2007, 8:21 PM
in the LG VX-8600 / AX-8600 forum

I apologize. I was thinking of the LG VX8300 not the 8600. I own the 8300 along with three other members of my family. Great phone and we all love it. The speaker is loud and clear. Again, sorry for the screw up. The 8300 seems to do just about everything the 8600 does. It isn't as slim and has an external antenna but I like the keypad better and the speaker is great if that is what you ...

It sure does. Works real well too. Take a look at your phone and find the clear button which is below the OK button and sandwiched between the send and end keys. Look directly below the clear button. There is a picture of a speaker on a button. Press this to activate the speaker.

Texting help.
May 17, 2007, 3:04 PM
in the LG VX-8700 forum

Is there a way to set the default to "word" when texting so I do not have to switch from "abc" to "word" everytime I want to text? I prefer the t9 or word. Any help would be great.

Is there a way to set the 8300 to "word" or t9 all the time when texting? It always seems to revert back to abc. Thanks.

Re: KRZR vs VX8600
Mar 9, 2007, 8:48 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The look and feel of the KRZR in my opinion is superior to the LG VX8600. It just feels more comfortable in the hand. The sound quality on both phones is excellent on both ends. I would give a very slight edge to the KRZR. The handling of bluetooth is better on the Motorola as it automatically recognizes the link when you turn on the bluetooth device and goes off when the you are not using it. The LG ...

Re: Voice Dialing - 10X better than 8300
Jul 26, 2006, 6:00 PM
in the LG VX-5300 / UX-245 / AX-245 forum

What makes the voice diaing better? Does the bluetooth actually work without that annoying echo? I own the 8300 and like most things about it except the two areas mentioned. I hate the way the 8300 handles voice dialing but can live with it. As far as bluetooth, I simply gave up and went to a corded earpiece. I don't do the music thing so that isn't important to me. Thanks for any input.

Re: 8300 or a930??
Jul 15, 2006, 8:23 AM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

Let me start by saying the 8300 is a great phone that does most things well. It has very good reception and the clarity of the call is great. It does two things poorly that if it is important to you, you may want to look elsewhere. The voice command it uses is a bit awkward and the bluetooth connectivity and lack of echo for the receiving party is a real problem. The voice command although awkward is ...

Re: Bluetooth headset problems with 8300
Jul 7, 2006, 11:44 AM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

My experience has been this. I have gone through 5 headsets and the other party sounds great to me but they say they hear an echo of their own voice. I was advised to turn the volume down which worked for the echo but then I could barely hear the other party. I believe it is a software issue that will likely be corrected in the future. I happily owned the LG 8100 prior to this an did not ...

bkw79, I work in the Alpharetta area but live in Cherokee (Woodstock). There are two locations, one is the Northpoint (400 North exit 8) Verizon Wireless and a brand new (few months) Verizon Wireless store on hwy 92 in Woodstock. As a matter of fact I just got back from the Northpoint location and they were kind enough to allow me to simply get my LG 8300 back and hand over the Razr V3M. I will wait and see if ...

Re: Samsung A930 or LG8300 or Razr V3M
Jul 6, 2006, 8:32 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

I turned the LG 8300 in this morning and got the silver Razr V3m. I think I made a huge mistake. It feels very cheap. The outside screen is useless, the keypad not so great and the menu is alot slower than the Lg 8300 and seems to be missing a few things. The voice dial is great, the speaker a little tinny. I intend to return it tomorrow and get the Samsung if they will let me. I ...

Re: Zippaul
Jul 6, 2006, 8:19 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I should have listened to the Verizon Wireless rep who said "You know none of the techs have a Razr". I traded in the LG 8300 earlier today because of the voice dial and bluetooth issues that were making me crazy and got the Razr V3M. It was I believe a big mistake. Sound clarity is good, reception decent (8300 better) but the build quality is poor in general, the menu is slower, keypad feels very cheap and the outer ...

Re: Hate to say it, but I had to give up on the 8300!
Jul 5, 2006, 6:15 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

Mary, I am guessing that there is no real difference other than color between the silver and charcoal Razr V3M's. I had read somewhere else that someone thought they were built differently, is this true? I prefer the look of the silver but the store I deal with (Atlanta, GA) only has the charcoal colored one. I only have until the 9th so any additional input would be great. Are the menu's slow like the V3C? How is the voice ...

I am right there with you Mary. The bluetooth issue is driving me nuts and the voice dialing isn't what the 8100's was. I like everything else about the phone but these are the most used areas for me. I am currently looking at the Samsung A930 which has gotten good reviews and from my understanding handles bluetooth well and the voice dialing works great. The other is the Razr V3M which a friend of mine owns and ...

Jul 4, 2006, 6:37 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

Once again thank you. I prefer the look of the Samsung and from most reviews people seem to either love the Razr or hate it. Makes me wonder which opinion I would have. Scary. I too wish Samsung had put the voice dial somewhere other than on the inside but if I can simply set the phone to where bluetooth is on all the time then it's no big deal. If I do have it on all the time ...

Jul 4, 2006, 5:07 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

Thank you very much NEgadgetguy. A couple more questions though if you don't mind. With bluetooth do I have to open the A930 or just press the button on the headset to activate the voice dialing features? I have seen the dedicated voice dialing button on the A930 but it is located where the keypad is so I was curious how that would work with it closed and using a bluetooth headset. The Razr V3M's voice activated button ...

Samsung A930 or LG8300 or Razr V3M
Jul 4, 2006, 1:43 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

I currently own the LG8300 but have until the 9th of July to either keep it or exchange it. Here is my problem. I really like the LG but it seems to handle bluetooth poorly. The receiving party complains of echoes. I have swapped it out once already and the same issue persists. I have also tried turning the volume down as suggested but the issue is still there. I have tried 6 different headsets. The next issue is ...

Re: LG8300 bluetooth
Jul 3, 2006, 4:06 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I too have tried just about every headset I can think of and have had no success with the echo issue. As far as battery life goes I would say it drained it at a pace that was the same as most others. I love the phone but the bluetooth and voice command features are real important to me. The voice dialing is not what the 8100 was which I thought was just fine. I find the new version ...

Re: Bluetooth Echo Problem, any ideas? - HUGE PROBLEM
Jun 30, 2006, 6:53 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

So what is the solution if there is one? Like I said I really love the phone but I use the phone alot in the car. The blutooth sure seems nice if it works with this phone properly. I also use the voice command as well. The 8300 handles this a bit awkwardly. For example "Call Tom", phone: "Call Tom? Me: "yes" phone: "call Tom?" then it begins dialing. It aslo does not ask whether you are calling mobile, home, ...

in the LG VX-8300 forum

I am now trying the Jabra BT500 in addition to swapping my phone out. I simply do not believe it is the headsets. This is the 6th one I have tried and the people receiving my calls are still getting an echo of their voice. I really do not care for the Jabra BT500 anyway as it is not that comfortable. I have a friend who owns a Motorola Razr V3c which is paired with a Motorola H500 and ...

in the LG VX-8300 forum

Sorry to hear that, I hope someone can come up with a solution. I am a couple of days past my 15 day trial as far as the phone is concerned so I hope it is something I am or am not doing that is the problem. I never had any issues with the 8100 which is all I can compare it to.

Bluetooth Echo Problem, any ideas?
Jun 27, 2006, 6:20 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I have paired my 8300 with several headsets (Motorola h500, Jabra 160 and Jabra 350, Plantronics etc.) and the call is fine on my end but the person I am calling is hearing an echo of their own voice with every word they say. I have exchanged headsets for the same one to determine if it were defective as well as turned the volume down and still the same issue. Could this be a problem with the phone? I ...

Re: Decision to make with Verizon-- Razor V3m or LG VX-8300
Jun 23, 2006, 9:50 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3m forum

The new Razr V3M's most redeeming quality is that it is good looking and lightweight. The call quality/clarity is very good on both ends of the call. Reception is good but one should disregard comparisons using the "how many bars you have" method as different manufacturers (LG, Samsung etc.) have different ways to measure sensitivity. One may show 3 bars another 1 but the calls sound the same and there is no noticeable difference between them. The real test ...

Re: 8100 or 8300 what\'s your pick and why?
Jun 16, 2006, 4:17 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I paired both the 8100 previously and the 8300 recently with the Jabra JBT 350V. My experience has been very good. Calls are loud and clear with an occasional (very rare) echo that I believe is not related to the bluetooth unit but rather proximity to towers/reception/outside interference issues. Some units like some of the phones we all buy are simply defective and can be spotted pretty quickly and returned or replaced. When I originally searched for a unit ...

in the LG VX-8300 forum

I have both in my family, my wife has the 8100 which when I upgraded I gave to her. I own the 8300. The reception on both is great here in the metro Atlanta area. The call clarity/quality is very good, I would give the edge to the 8300 based on responses from friends. The 8300 is the clear winner where size and weight is concerned. The look of the 8300 I find to be more pleasing, metallic like ...
