Is the screen glass or plastic? Will it require a screen protector?

This train left the station months ago. Unless Dell has some real magic, the new mobile unit will only be the most painful reminder of a once topflight company.

Looks like Leap is abandoning it's "Original" Cricket scheme

in the Article: Cricket's PAYGo Phones Hitting Target Stores October 4 forum

Originally Cricket only sold through its own stores, requiring payment thru its payment centers rather than using the ubiquitous "prepaid" approach. I would think Leap will sell more phones and make subscribers happier, while leaving many original Cricket stores steamed with this new distribution model.

So... Eric, what do you think? If you had to pick a new phone today would it be the Pre, iPhone or Magic?

With the blizzard of new handsets being launched very soon, most notably the new iPhone and Pre, if you don't move quickly, they'll eat your lunch!

in the Article: Network Operators Agree to Standardize Marketing Practices forum

"The carriers and their marketers will benefit by seeing more efficient campaigns, faster time to market, better monitoring and auditing, and reduced costs across the board..." Sounds like an oblique move to further develop price fixing, thereby keeping consumer pricing and carrier profits high.

Now That You Have the 8900, What Do You Think?
Feb 3, 2009, 5:18 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8900 forum

Having been a Pearl 8100 and 8120 user for the past 2 1/2 years, I have been eagerly awaiting the 8900. I have tried the 8320 and decided it was no significant improvement over the Pearl. I tried the iPhone 3G and didn't get the reception (as I should have, according to AT&T) and the service price was much more expensive. I tried the G1 but it was just too clunky. Benefits vs Disadvantages

Somebody already said there is "no call waiting, sms is shady at times and the reception is not that good". If you are a post-paid customer can you port your # in and if you do, can you port your # out if you do not like the service? What are other strengths and weaknesses other than price?

I am confident that shortly the other carriers will meet or beat this new offer.

Hotspot@Home Now Even better than $10, if you have multiple lines

Yesterday I upgraded from an 8100 to an 8320. I purchased Hotspot@Home for $10. The rep told me that the $10 also covered my wife's phone. Now this has me thinking about getting my wife a new phone to use with the Hotspot@Home sevice. Guess that is the reason they are offering such a good deal!

New iPhone vs iTouch
Sep 6, 2007, 8:35 AM
in the Article: Apple Adds Features, Drops Price of iPhone forum

Why would you buy an iTouch instead of the iPhone? Doesn't the iPhone have pretty much everything that the iTouch has plus the phone? I suppose if you aren't an AT&T customer or don't want to risk unlocking the iPhone but still want the new iTouch!?

Most T-Mobile stores (and presumably other carriers) have a transfer device that works like a charm. Normally they do it for free.
