Operating system update
Jul 24, 2009, 1:40 PM
in the BlackBerry Tour 9630 forum

I've been eyeing the Tour, and from what I've read, the OS is a bit dated. I've never had a BlackBerry, so I was wondering ... is that something that can be updated? If they release an updated OS, can you install that or is it only for new phones?

Phones with WIFI
Apr 2, 2009, 11:49 AM
in the Verizon forum

I have been looking at upgrading my phone, and I'm noticing that VZW doesn't offer much in the way of phones with WIFI - especially the Blackberrys. I've asked a few reps about this, and keep getting different answers. The last rep told me that it was because "VZW cares about it's customers, and since so many business people use BB, we don't want to put them at risk for getting hacked and having their info stolen." ...

I am looking for a new phone, and was checking out the Curve... but is it true that Verizon has disabled the GPS and Wi-Fi on this phone?? /;|

Any new Smart Phones with Windows?
Jan 5, 2009, 11:41 AM
in the Verizon forum

I'm looking at the Centro, but I was wondering if anyone has heard if Verizon might be getting any new phones with Windows OS instead? The only one by Palm that my local store has is the Treo 700, and I'd like something newer... besides, they told me that one isn't going to be sold for much longer... Thanks :)

Are any new smartphones coming soon?
Dec 29, 2008, 11:48 AM
in the Verizon forum

My contract is up in the next couple weeks and I want to upgrade to a smart phone, but I'm not really sure about the selection of phones that Verizon is offering right now. Are there any new smart phones coming out soon?

Re: Motorola Phone Tools and the Maxx Ve
Jul 22, 2007, 8:08 PM
in the Motorola RAZR maxx Ve forum

It's there in an older version? I wonder if Verizon put up a fuss or something? I think the one I have must be the newer one, because I just got it. :? I emailed Motorola about it, and I just got an email back from them stating that the Maxx Ve is not supported by the Phone Tools. If that is the case they really need to state that on there website, because when ...

Motorola Phone Tools and the Maxx Ve
Jul 18, 2007, 9:52 AM
in the Motorola RAZR maxx Ve forum

I have the Motorola Phone Tools program, and it recognizes when I attach my phone to my computer, but it won't install it or even recognize the type. It let me pick from a list, and the Maxx Ve wasn't even on it, yet it's the most up-to-date list from Moto. My computer itself picks it up, though; when I first plug it in one of those bubbles pops up and says "New hardware detected - Maxx ...

Ringtones sound off
Jun 14, 2007, 10:10 AM
in the Motorola RAZR maxx Ve forum

I just got my Maxx Ve, and I don't know if it is my phone, or if I am just used to how my last phone sounded, but the ringtones sound, well, "off" to me. I previewed a couple from Get It Now that I had on my last phone, and I know they will sound different on different phones, but they sounded REALLY different. Has anyone else had this problem? :? Also, I never ...

That doesn't seem like a lot... my old Audivox CDM9900 holds 500 text messages before it is full... /;|

300 total, or 300 in the inbox? I am just asking because my phone that I have now has a certain capacity for the outbox and inbox, they don't share memory. I am also wondering about this for the maxx.

Really?? cool!! Do you have a link to the page? I couldn't find it, and I want to show it to the guy at the Verizon store that I went to tonight that didn't believe me, lol.

Re: Which features does Verizon block?

in the Verizon forum

Right now I have a phone that does not have bluetooth, but I am shopping for a new phone, which is why I was wondering. I know I would like to be able to transfer pictures that I take with my phone and such. The ringtones would be nice, but that isn't a dealbreaker for me. Right now I have been looking at the new KRZR, the LG8600, and I am waiting for the RAZR maxx Ve... I ...

I'm glad they finally are giving us some answers, but I just read an article that said it won't be out until July... :( I hope that is wrong...

Yeah, but if you click the link to the full story at the bottom, the news release at Motorola (at least the one that link lead me to) said nothing about the maxx Ve .... :?

RAZR maxx Ve.... any info??
Mar 26, 2007, 2:24 PM
in the Verizon forum

I just called Verizon to see if they had any updates on when this might come out, and they told me that don't have any info at all, it wasn't in their system, and that they usually find out about new phones 3-5 weeks before they come out. So, should we take that to mean it will be at least another month to wait??? :?

Is there anything out there right now that even comes close to the 9900??
Mar 19, 2007, 7:14 PM
in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

I have a 9900, and my contract is up, but nothing out there seems even remotely close to this phone. I would love to keep it, but I'm not sure how long it will last :( Plus, my state is going to be passing a hands-free law, and I would like to have bluetooth. eeerrrrrr..... any suggestions?? :?

Which features does Verizon block?
Mar 19, 2007, 6:55 PM
in the Verizon forum

My contract is up, so I am shopping for a new phone (although so far I haven't found one that I like better than my current one :( ). I've heard a lot in the past about Verizon blocking certain features, and I was wondering if they still do that, and which features they block. :? Is there any way to unblock those features? And are there any carriers that don't do that?

Does Verizon still disable phone features?
Feb 19, 2007, 5:38 PM

I've heard a lot about Verizon disabling or crippling features on their phones. Are they still doing this a lot? My contract is up, so I am shopping around and wondering if I should stay with Verizon or not :?

Turning down the intro volume??
Nov 25, 2004, 5:36 PM
in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

I have tried adjusting the different volume settings, but I can't seem to change the volume of the music that plays when you start up and shut down the phone - and it's pretty loud! Does anyone know how to fix this?? Thanks! :?

This will affect Maine? I did not see Maine listed, unless we fall under the Boston area. I live in Maine, and that would definitley be a good thing... more coverage up here! :)

I live in Maine, and here for a 400 min national plan (USCC), it is $50 - that is before any additional services. I have been looking at Verizon's America's Choice plan, and it covers most of the country - you get 400 min for 39.95, plus unlimited In calling and unlimited nights and weekends. You have to pay for mobile to mobile and nights & weekends with USCC. The regional plans are priced better than ...

New promo..?
Nov 1, 2004, 4:44 PM
in the Verizon forum

I asked a few days ago if there were any new VZW promos coming up, and someone had responded that Nov. 1st started a new promotional period, but I don't see anything different on the website. Does anyone know if VZW is going to be offering any new promos? Thanks!

CDGIII said: Because it's billable network traffic that your handset has to either tie up a Paging Channel (for a short message), or even tie up a Traffic Channel (for longer messages). That part I understand, I just wasn't sure why Verizon was charging for it when it seems like no other carriers are.

Do you have any problems with the earpiece? I've heard that is one of the downfalls, because there is only one hole.

It's the screen that gets me... I know the screen has nothing to do with how the phone works, but I wish all phones had a screen like that!

I have U.S. Cellular right now, and they don't charge, either.

Also, a text messaging question
Oct 31, 2004, 8:44 PM

While I have been comparison shopping for a new carrier, I've noticed that Verizon is the only one I have come across that charges you to receive text messages.... all of the rest only charge you to send. Does anyone know why?? :?

Switching to Verizon....
Oct 31, 2004, 8:40 PM
in the Verizon forum

I have been seriously thinking about switching to Verizon.... I have U.S. Cellular right now, and I am not really impressed with their phone selection, and I'm not really sure if I like their plans. With all of the talk about the ATT/Cingular merger, I'm not sure if I should switch to Verizon now, or wait and see what happens with the new ATT plans... any suggestions?

Availabilty in stores??
Oct 29, 2004, 1:39 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

Does anyone know when this phone will be available at the Verizon store locations in New England?? I like to see a phone before I buy it, and I keep getting different answers either from the store of when I call the 800#. One person at a store in my area said they don't know if they are even getting it?!?

Coverage question....
Oct 29, 2004, 1:28 PM
in the Article: Cingular Merger Final forum

I live in an area that ATT covers (actually, just started to cover), but not Cingular. If I sign up with the ATT store here, will I be able to get a plan with rollover?? Or will I have to wait until Cingular puts my area on their coverage map?

Oct 28, 2004, 10:56 AM

Yeah, you have a really good point about the paper wasting - I never thought of that... I'm used to getting bills that are only a few pages, but I bet that tons of people would have HUGE detail list. I would much rather save a tree!!

Re: Another Verizon question.... (billing & charges)
Oct 28, 2004, 8:33 AM
in the Verizon forum

I assume you can print off the detailed billing from the website? I like to have the record; I think because I am so used to having it from my other carrier. It's cool that they offer it online, but I still don't understand why no one else seems to charge to print it on your bill. :?

Another Verizon question.... (billing & charges)
Oct 28, 2004, 7:07 AM
in the Verizon forum

Does anyone know why they charge for detailed billing and to receive text messages? My current carrier doesn't, and I have been comparison shopping for a new carrier, and Verizon is the only one I have found that charges for those things. Does anyone know why??? Thanks!
