Thank you for your courteous surreply. I am amused because your industry connection might indicate an axe to grind, whereas my connection is non-existent. I am an attorney by trade and an audiophile reviewer/writer by avocation. I have nothing to do with the cell phone business other than being technically savvy and a research fanatic.

I respectfully disagree with your premise and your choices. I am not interested in a two year ball and chain at ridiculous monthly service costs, hence my reference to the off contract price. I will pay $45 for unlimited everything with Straight Talk, thank you very much. Works great in my area and we don't have LTE service here....yet, but its nice to know I have it on this phone.

Really?...tell me which phone in this price range is running ICS with a dual core 1.5 ghz S4 chip and 1GB ram with an 8 mp back cam and 2 mp front cam? Did you bother to run any real performance tests? ...
