Want to install Chaperone on this device, but don't want the user to be made aware of it. I can get the device in hand. Can the application be hidden?

Re: Need Some Help...Pocket PC or a SmartPhone

Here's my $.02 for what it's worth. I've used a number of data/phone devices over the past few years. Everything from old school Blackberry 6210's, to newer 7250's, to Audiovox/Verizon XV6600 and XV6700 (my current device). I'm a network admin that works in the Microsoft world, once I made the switch from a Blackberry to a PocketPC device, there was no going back for me! The PocketPC devices have a better Internet browser than Blackberry's, plus you ...

Samsung i730 to be replaced by Motorola Q ???
Oct 6, 2005, 2:59 PM

I couldn't find anything about the Motorola Q on phonescoop, so I figured I'd go out to the masses. The Q is one sweet device. Get more details at ... http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/ details/0,,113,00.html I'm hoping Verizon will carry this phone sometime next year. Plus, since it's not a silly "slide open" phone, there might actually be some decent cases for it. BTW ... I'm currently an AudioVox 6600 user ... that thing bugs me to no end. I think ...

I've had the XV6600 for a few months now. It's been a bother to be quite honest. It's a love-hate relationship. I love the PocketPC aspect of it. I installed Voice Command to add that functionality. The fact that I can rip a DVD to a WMV file and put two or three of them on a 512MB memory card is pretty freakin' awesome. I hate the phone and the keypad. I ...

Any more news on this? I was at a Microsoft seminar last week and they were showing Windows Mobile 5.0. Pretty slick, and being able to upgrade would be awesome.

Voice Command is made by Microsoft. I got it for $30 from newegg.com and it's working fine. Be sure to get the update from the MS website. Sorry Bluetooth users, but BT headsets are not compatible with Voice Command. Only the wired headset is going to work. Voice Command has added some pretty useful functionality to my 6600. - I can press one button (programmable) and then say, "Call John Doe" and it calls John. ...

Adapters that fit in to the SDIO slot on top. Jabra makes the BT200 that is a bluetooth headset with an adapter that plugs in to the headphone jack. Google it.

Anyone using this with their 6600? I've got it and it's nice. I wish there were a way to assign the voice command button to the button on the headset. If anyone know how to do this please let me know. Thanks.

Umm, Verizon has the XV6600 with a camera now. Good golly I don't know how long that battery lasts, it's bad enought without the camera.

Blackberry is easier if you're totally in to email. Easier to type on. I had a Blackberry and my wife had a Treo. The Treo keyboard is not NEARLY as nice as the BB, hands down. Probably you've already decided (this is an old post), so I'll shut up and move on now.

I had a BB for the longest time, now I've moved to the Verizon 6600 for the enhanced browsing (terminal service) capability. I have to say that the BB was much more affluent at email, but that's what it's built for. I run our Exchange 2003 service in-house. You're not going to get anything from Exch2003 with a BB. BB uses its proprietary BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) for server-based operation. If you don't use the BES you'll have to ...

Ah yes, I believe the Verizon Wireless Sync software is powered by IntelliSync. That software setup did work fine, but as I mentioned before, I no longer use it. Exchange 2003 ActiveSync has to be accessed over https. That's what I found in my research of setting it up. If you do not have https I think it errors out. I've setup a sub-domain address (webmail.domain.com) linked to one of our public IP's, and I purchased an SSL cert ...

Maybe something like this (http://www.mpitech.com/bpa/) coupled with an HP DeskJet 450 Mobile printer. Don't know if you're going to find a mobile printer with Bluetooth built-in. At least, not yet.

I've had the device for about a week. I'm still using the standard issue headset/mic and the volume is so-so. I've got mine cranked up all the way for use in the car. I'm waiting to get a Jabra BT250 Bluetooth headset (read other posts regarding Bluetooth issues). $45/mo for a data plan isn't the cheapest, but it's not unheard of. How married to your data are you? That will determine if it's worth it. If you have to get ...

cazabra, I'm not a Verizon rep, but here's what their literature says: "Customers that subscribe to VZEmail with Wireless Sync are entitled to an additional battery at 50% off. The final price will be $29.99." If suggest you call Verizon (800-922-0204) and ask about it.

Don't have the phone, but I've read documentation extensively. All through the documentation there is reference to being mindful of the battery status and keeping it charged. Verizon offers additional batteries for this phone at 50% off, that brings the price down to $30/battery. The cradle that comes with the phone can charge an extra battery. I suggest you if you get the phone, you get an extra battery and possibly even a car charger if you're in your ...

I don't have much experience with GPS software, but maybe if you turn on the Location Based Service (LBS) on the phone it will work properly. Every Verizon phone I've seen so far comes default with LBS off. This means that positional info is only transmitted on a 911 call. If you turn LBS on then I think you transmit all of the time. LBS status is indicated by the "crosshairs" icon on your phone's display. If there are ...

I just spoke with our Verizon rep and he's not sure either. In mine and his opinion both, you're better off without it. This phone with a camera is just packing too much. It probably hasn't been released yet because they can't find a battery that will hold a charge for reasonable amount of time. Plus, when's the last time you saw a camera phone that can take a decent photo? Digital cameras are so small and cheap now, ...

One Bluetooth Headset, Two Bluetooth Phones
Nov 8, 2004, 3:14 PM

Here's the deal ... I'm going to have two bluetooth devices on me (a Blackberry 7290 and a Motorola v710). I take voice calls on each device. I want to know if it's possible to have one bluetooth headset and have it work with both phones. Both phones will be powered on (one on my belt and one in my pocket). I'm planning to use the Jabra FreeSpeak BT-250 headset. Is this going to ...

Tweaking an AudioVox CDM-9900 - Anyone done it?
Nov 2, 2004, 1:42 PM
in the Development forum

Got an AudioVox CDM-9900 from Verizon Wireless and it's got an annoying "Verizon Wireless" banner on the external CallerID screen. Obviously a shameless marketing ploy. I'd like to know if anyone has hacked one of these phones before. If so, how did you do it? I've seen hacks for this problem on LG phones, but the software they recommend (BitPim) seems to be geared toward only LG phones. I want to remove the "Verizon Wireless" banner from the external ...
