Re: HELP! (please) Handsfree options for driving?

go to this link and check out the "Vehicle Power Charger (Hands-Free)" about 1/2 way down under chargers and cradles. This has an external speaker and microphone attached to the car charger and should work for you. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/st ore/controller?item=accessoryMart&action=view AccessoriesByPhone&selectedPhoneId=1575&make= LG&model=VX6100 If the link doesn't work, just go to verizonwireless.com and click on accessories and select LG and then VX-6100 and scroll down to the hands free charger.

Re: Extended Battery/Charging Time/Software Updates
Nov 21, 2004, 12:00 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

regarding your question about the charging info in the manual-- I believe that what they mean by "the maximum charge time for a fully discharged battery is 3.5 hours" is the longest time it would actually take to charge the battery in a fully discharged state, ie., it will take no longer than 3.5 hours. I don't think this means do not leave it connected to teh charger longer than 3.5 hours. I posed a similar ...

Re: Was sent thin round plug car charger - wrong one?
Nov 18, 2004, 10:40 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

That is the wrong charger--the charging port for the 6100 is on the bottom and is indeed rectangular. The Verizon part number for the appropriate vehicle charger is: LGVPC-2. That is the code under the UPC barcode on the back of the packaging for the vehicle charger I ordered from Verizon for the 6100.

Re: Verizon Banner on Display
Nov 18, 2004, 6:06 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

This banner is only present on phone's with an America's Choice plan (not on a local plan). I don't believe there is a way to get rid of it without hacking the phone--do a search in this forum with the keyword "banner"--I think this topic was discussed in the last week or so.

I took back a CDM-9900 on the 16th day it was no problem to refund me. I guess it depends on who you get . . .

Re: Speakerphone activation?
Nov 6, 2004, 9:12 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

Turning on the speakerphone is really easy--just press up on the navigation pad to turn the speakerphone on or off (either before or during a call). There is also something called driving mode which isn't explained in great detail in the manual. You press a button on the side of the phone for 3 sec. and it goes into this mode. All functions become voice activated (including digit dial, calling contacts, answering calls, the current time, ...

I can confirm that my 6100 does the same thinkg in manner mode that you described. I can also confirm that the in store reps I have dealt with on other semi-technical matters have been jackasses.

Re: volume control bug????
Nov 4, 2004, 1:54 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

I actually never noticed the bug until it was pointed out on this forum and then I confirmed that it does exist, although it does not bother me at all. What happens is when you receive a call, the party's voice that called you is at a low volume for the first 2-3 seconds or so of the call and then the volume goes up to whatever level you have the phone's earpiece volume set at. Literally, ...

potential driving mode software bug-does your do this?
Nov 3, 2004, 11:56 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

I have discussed this issue via e-mails with "TheMrBillShow" (a quite knowledgeable member of this forum) and he suggested I post it here. I intend to e-mail LG customer service and see what they say. On to the issue: If I just turn on driving mode and then turn it off, the phone reverts back to regular mode. However, if I turn on driving mode and make or receive calls with it, after I close the flip to end to ...

charging port cover
Oct 29, 2004, 8:43 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

My 6100 came with a little gray rubber cover in the charging port, presumably to protect the port from dust, etc. My question is whether this should be inserted whenever the charger is not in use. I have never worried about the port before on other phones and have never had any problems, so I was kind of wondering why they include the cover-are you supposed to keep the port covered???

Oct 25, 2004, 12:00 AM

Thank you for taking the time to write this excellent side by side review. I had a 9900 for the full 15 day period and had no intention of taking it back. On the 15th day, I called verizon and they had gotten the 6100's in that day. Out of curiosity, I went to look at it and liked it, and agree with all of your analysis. I left the store still intending to keep ...

voice activated dialing question
Oct 20, 2004, 6:11 PM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

for those who have the phone--is it possible to assign voice activeated dialing to each of the numbers under a particular contact, or can you only assign it to a particular contact, and it will always just dial that contact's default number? I know that a way around this (if the the 6100 can not "dig" past the default number) is to just make a new phonebook entry for each number of a contact, but I prefer to have ...

in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

No problem Tom-- yeah they just returned the first one and then I repurchased the correct one. Don't let them tell you that there is no specific charger for the 9900--I had 2 different Verizon stores tell me that, until I found one that actually had the correct charger.

Re: car charger
Oct 17, 2004, 3:00 AM
in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

I guess the 8400/8900 charger works, but the barrel that inserts into the phone's receptacle is too long for the 9900 (compare the 8400/8900 charger to your phone's included travel charger and you will see what I am talking about). I found another Verizon store locally that had the actual charger for the 9900. Fits perfect. So if the lack of a perfect fit accessory does not bother you, the charger you have should charge the phone ...

there have been a lot of posts regarding this over the past few days. run a search for verizon banner or verizon logo and you should come up with plenty of ideas. A member of this board, FAUguy, posted this link from Howard Forums: http://www.howardforums.com/showth read.php?s=&threadid=470438

press the camera button, press options, select flash and then select always on. Kind of a weird way to get to it, but that is how it works, then you have to turn it back off the same way.

Re: Storage space

in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

user "petemcroy" posted this a while back: "I believe you can take 35 pictures or videos. The phone has dedicated memory for "in camera" pix and vids. This does not go against the internal 6.5MB memory, since it's separate "In Camera/Camcorder memory". However, when you assign a pic to your contacts, it then goes and uses the 6.5MB of memory."

Re: Removing Verizon Logo on outer screen (poll)

I tried the reprogram with option 1. Still the same-no toggle of the verizon banner on the caller id on the outer screen and no verizon banner on the idle inner LCD (just the wallpaper (a photo I took), the clock I selected, the soft key information at the bottom, and the batery, signal, etc. at the top).-- I wouldn't really call the lack of verizon logos on my screens a defect--if it is, it is a desirable ...

Thanks for the answers Bill. I did as you said and called my phone without answering it--no flashing of the network status on the outer LCD. Just the caller ID info the whole time until voicemail picked up. It is in digital mode (not sure if that makes a difference). Kind of weird--maybe has to do with where I am located.

Take it easy-- I am not trying to find anything wrong with the phone-- I am coming from a StarTac 7868, so I am delighted with all the features and agree that the reception is great. I have no intention of returning it and I am using it making calls and enjoying it as you say. I was just making sure that the hinge on mine is not abnormally loose. I made no mention of using ...

hinge on 9900
Oct 15, 2004, 7:25 PM
in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

I am probably just overanalyzing this, but I have had/used my 9900 for about 10 days now. I just noticed that the hinge on it has some play (probably less than 1mm) side to side when the phone is opened partially (about half way) all the way up until it clicks into place. Probably normal-if there was no play, the hinge would not be easy to open. Just checking to see if others have the same play ...

so this verizon flashing logo only comes up when you are roaming then?? you mention setting the ERI to 0--is this done by a hack or in the phone menus? Also, did changing yours to "Bill's phone" require a hack or just the phone menues? Thanks Bill.

Re: Removing Verizon Logo on outer screen

I have been reading these posts about removing the Verizon logo. I am not sure what they are referring to -- whenever I receive a call, the outside screen simply says incoming and displays the phone number and contact info stored in my phone (if it's available). The inside screen shows a picture of a phone with a stream going towards it and below that there is the contact info and the phone number. Maybe this ...

car charger
Oct 13, 2004, 5:50 PM
in the Audiovox CDM-9900 forum

Is there actually a car charger for the 9900 at the verizon stores? Because I was told at the verizon store that I go to that the one for the 8400/8900 is the right one, yet the silver plug that goes into the phone is too long. Thanks.

On this phone, the number 1 speed dial is assigned to voicemail (*86). I would like to add my access codes on a hard pause so that I can just press and hold 1 for two seconds to have it call my voicemail and then press the send button to enter my access code and let me get my voicemails without having to type in the code every time. I know that I can assign this to ...
