If she changed her actual rate plan then yes it renews the contract but the upgrade tenure doesnt reset so if she was eligible for upgrade then she still is and can still get the discounted price unless she switched to a value plan. As far a contesting it months later I can't say

I wouldnt think so since 1900 is what they were running edge/2g on. now its 3g to improve serive and make room for lte next year. People will only need a new device if they're not using a 3g capable phone ( theyre still out there).

Re: Any disadvantage of value plans
Aug 9, 2012, 1:55 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Basically w/ value plans the only difference is since your rate plan is lower than the "classic" plan you can't get phone discounts at all so all of your phones will be full retail..that said w/ the value plan there is EIP which is basically interest free financing on phones so basically you make a down payment about what the normal discounted price is like for GS3 16gb of $279.99, then the remaining amount is broken up over ...

this may be a stupid question, but why would you need to know if your phone is connect to 1900 as opposed to 1700/2100 especially if you're using a Tmo phone? its going to be the same hspa+ speeds you had, the 1900 is more beneficial for Tmo customers who use iPhones since they'll be free from EDGE
