Re: New Verizon Phones Coming Out 2016
I would like nothing more than to tear through this post piece by piece, but since that's not worthy of my time and talents, I wish you good luck with your poorly-written, poorly-executed click bait.
Re: Verizon Blackmail or Extortion?
Did you call a lawyer? I don't think one will pop out of nowhere on here.
Re: Heartbroken Customer
Sounds like a legitimate reason to waive the restock fee to me.
If you get no where with the rep, ask to speak to the manager (who is the only person who CAN waive the fee). If they won't budge, ask for the district manager's phone number (the DM doesn't want to have to deal with this, in many cases, so they just might do it). If that doesn't get anywhere, simply hit them where it hurts.
If you ...
Re: LG Cosmos 3 question, buying aftermarket? Ebay?
Glad to help.
Without going into the technical, a swollen battery is an outward sign of a battery that needs to be replaced. The more swollen it gets, the worse off the battery is. You would have diminished life between charges, as well as very long (or very short) charge times.
Re: droid mini
Easy to tell - just look at an unused phone (after a hard reset is best).
As for a list of those apps, that might be found on Google with a good search, but it's likely that the included apps will have changed with each software update.
Besides, you can either root the device and remove apps, or simply disable them if on newer software.
Re: LG Cosmos 3 question, buying aftermarket? Ebay?
Welcome to full retail basic phones. They used to be a lot more than $200 only a few years ago.
If you can find a new one on ebay that is not attached to any contract, good for you. Generally speaking, anything online that says "new" either isn't actually new, or has a contract. If that line can't upgrade, you won't be able to buy one new from most vendors on ebay. Check for the contract ...
Re: Why no "Full Retail" deals?
There is a good point there about the accessories, however, in my experience those who buy full price phones generally will get their accessories elsewhere for as little as possible. Accessories are the operational income of carriers, especially when two year contracts (full subsidies) force profits to happen 18 months into the future.
If any wiggle room exists, it may be in the order of $20 or less. Still, $20 on a $600 item when all other costs ...
Re: Why no "Full Retail" deals?
Because they paid that $599 price tag to get the phone, so selling the phone at cost is a loss - less than cost is even more of a loss. Would you sell a product for less than cost without expecting to make back that money?
This is a three-year old article written by some of the people who once frequented this site. The information may be a little dated, but the information pertaining to full retail and ...

Awesome. And thanks for digging up a six year old thread.
Re: more everything promo
If you are currently out of contract:
$80
-$15.20
$40 line 1
$40 line 2
-$25 line 1
-$25 line 2
= $94.80 +tax per month
If you are still in contract:
$80
-$15.20
$40 line 1
$40 line 2
= $144.80 +tax per month
As you can see, the new plan hinges on you being out of contract (and staying that way). If you upgrade later on, you can do two-year contracts and lose the discounts, buy the phone full price to keep the discounts, or upgrade to the Edge plan ...
Re: G zone Boulder software update.
I don't get on here much any more, but I glance over once in a while, and couldn't stop myself from responding to this.
This "technological day and time" is exactly why you're in this situation.
In this day and time, all phones receive their software updates over the air. Most (if not all) of the Verizon stores lost their specialized software computers because they weren't being used any more. Why spend money for the upkeep on computers when ...
Re: sms setting
Yes.
Re: Verizon reception
My reception sucks in Wal-Mart, too, but we're talking about a combined three or so hours in a month that I'm in a Wal-Mart, which hardly seems like an overwhelming reason to switch.
But moving past that for a moment, I might suggest asking this question in the AT&T forum, where you're likely going to find AT&T customers who may be able to give you better reports on their experiences in Target or Wal-Mart, and just might even be in ...
Re: HELP w/UNLOCKED VERIZON OPTIONS
Yes.
Re: iPhone 5S unlock question
The nano SIMs used in iPhones are not compatible with anything other than iPhone.
Most likely the phone will work, but you'll have to borrow an IMEI from the Verizon sequence assigned by Apple. With the right SIM and an activation run with the wrong IMEI (but a Verizon iPhone one), you should work.
Re: Verizon reception
You're going to switch carriers because they can't provide reception in a place where they can't guarantee reception anyway?
OK.
Re: W766
Two pieces you might need.
First, try BitPim (bitpim.org) to be able to transfer from the phone to the computer.
I'm not sure about Windows 8 compatibility, but you may need to download VZ Access Manager for the phone's drivers. Try the download at
http://www.vzam.net/download/download.aspx? productid=631
The file is for Windows 7 or older, buy might work.

Re: Customer Service very lacking
Seems to me that both interactions should have been handled differently - the first with a follow-up, the second with more empathy.
As for insurance, unless you've been telling the insurance company about your damage, they probably would have no idea your damage had been reported to Verizon. In most parts of the country Verizon is in an open enrollment period for insurance, so adding it isn't fraudulent. The part that may be questionable would be filing a ...
Re: Customer Service very lacking
A lot of the empathy has been threatened out of us old-schooler, but some folks just don't give a crap, regardless of how long they've been there.
Re: Customer Service very lacking
Thank you for having a good disposition about the whole thing!
I hope I didn't come across as being a jerk, either. I usually tell it like it is, but I try not to overstep.
If you can switch to Edge, that could be a viable alternative. It DOES cost you more in the long run, but it also leaves you with more options should something change.
As for expectations, I remember the days when we had more options to ...
Re: Customer Service very lacking
While Verizon and AT&T often mimic each others' programs and seem to copy off each other all the time, the two have very different policies when it comes to how they conduct their business. To put it bluntly, you asked too much by asking at all. Does that mean that what you ask for is impossible? Not at all. But you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who can get even request an override, let alone ...
Re: More Options for Basic Phones?
You can buy basic phones pretty much wherever you want, from Verizon, from a reseller, from the web, new, used, etc.
You can start from pretty much any direction. This is like buying any phone, you're just looking for a particular category of phones. You'll find most Verizon stores will have the newer models, even if they're not on display. Resellers (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, mall kiosks, etc) will not have the same selection, as they may have ...
Re: sending pictures
If I remember correctly, it should be the left option button. Those are the two buttons that correspond to an option at the bottom of the screen. While in the phone number field, you should be seeing a "123," which will change modes when you press that button. It MAY be the other side, too.
Re: Where's your phone number?
I would add to what CellStudent said (keeping in mind what you've said about your number in this thread), that the number has likely been reassigned to a current AT&T customer. If the information that indicated it was now with CINGULAR (which is AT&T) said the number was PORTABLE, then it's probably active with someone else now. You need to make sure of this, and the easiest way is to call AT&T and ask.
Re: sending pictures
I assume you mean the Motorola flip phone with that model number.
You can enter an email address instead of a phone number, you just need to switch input methods from numbers to letters and symbols. Just enter your email address (email@whatever.com). To make it easier to send multiple pictures, I would create a contact with just the email address (no number), so you can use that every time instead of rotating through letters and symbols.
Re: Ahhhh
Not sure what this has to do with my comment.
Re: Ahhhh
Authorized reseller in the context of a phone number usually means an MVNO, or virtual operator. Like PagePlus. I do find it odd that your number was reissued so quickly, but nothing's impossible there.
Re: Hopefully...
Yeah, won't that be a novelty?

Did I say somewhere that your example was wrong?
A) If he has information above and beyond the obvious, he's foolish for flaunting his knowledge of it.
B) If he's just giving us a line and actually doesn't know anything above and beyond the obvious, he's a fool for playing a field he isn't equipped to play on.
Look, there are at least six ways to keep unlimited data as I see it, and if I can see it I'm sure it's ...

Just as you find the skepticism here amusing, I also find it amusing that anyone here feels they know exactly what I do and do not know.
My track record on here is extensive. Yours?

Re: Goggle navigation
Google updated maps, if that's what you mean. They combined the two halves of that program (Maps and Nav) into one. If you don't like it, you can uninstall that update and get it back. Go to the aps section in settings, find the program, and click uninstall. That will revert it for you.
Re: do you need a data plan on an unlocked LG enV phone
Correct on both counts, however, the POS systems used by VZW will force basic phones that once required data plans onto a data plan, but will immediately allow you to remove it afterwards.
Re: Verizon overcharging on 3G4G Hot Spot devices
Criminal? By your own admission, you're "not held" to the "normal 2 year commitment." Exercise your right to choose and find something else that works. If nothing else works, no one is forcing you to maintain service. There is no boogeyman holding a gun to your head insisting you have Internet, live near fog, live in the hills, or otherwise.
Re: I really need a phone today
The mere fact that you have to take someone off-site to tell them something means you're either full of it, or looking to make a buck.
Not talking to the right person? Riiiiiight....
