Re: How do I send mp3 files to my RAZR??

in the Motorola RAZR V3 forum

You can upload MP3s directly to the phone just like you would the V710: Make an account on vzwpix.com Pick an MP3 you want to send, use an audio editing program to clip only a 30 second portion of it since the phone will only ring for 30 seconds. I use Audacity, it's free and generally easy to use. Sony SoundForge is excellent as it will downconvert to a lower bitrate and flatten the two stereo tracks and sum them into ...

See my other reply... send to the 10-digit number @sprintpcs.com as an email not text message.

Try sending it to the email version of the number, for instance 0000000000@sprintpcs.com or 0000000000@vtext.com (for Verizon). That usually fixes translation issues because it goes out an internet gateway and comes back in through the internet via an email message.

What kind of test was done on the battery? A full overnight load test on a battery analyzer or a voltmeter? 9 times out of 10, the battery can be defective. Sometimes cleaning the boards in the phone can help. Lastly, replacing the phone. PRL: doesn't make any difference if you're in an area that already has an established network in place and hasn't had any changes in a while.

I have seen a few of these on the market as well. From my experience in CDMA, if the amplifier glitches for any reason and somehow raises its transmit power (when in closed loop power, the phone is at a low level in a call)... this could cause severe interference and service issues on possibly multiple cell cites effecting hundreds or thousands of customers. Who takes the responsibility if this happens? As I understand it, in order for a customer ...

Re: Cellular Bands

Since wireless radio is designed to be more directional, and the antennas are down tilting... the atmosphere isn't used to extend the signal. In fact, the design of wireless networks tends to prefer a smaller cell site to maximize capacity. Lower frequencies are more likely to "bounce" off of objects such as mountains and buildings rather than higher frequencies. An analogy: cover the tweeter of your home audio system with your hand and most of the high frequency sound will ...

Re: SE T608 on Verizon?

Technically, if it's a CDMA Trimode phone, it can work. The only way to make it work is by loading the correct preferred roaming list (PRL) into the phone which instructs it to search for specific networks over others. This may not be possible since Verizon Wireless doesn't support this phone and has no computer hardware/software to do so. Verizon has a list of "approved phones" which have been tested to work on the network. They do not have to ...

Hopefully Samsung will get it out in the first quarter. Motorola is launching the v600 as soon as they can get a stable supply of camera parts for this phone. It's a very nice phone from my initial experience with it.

There's a product made called "Merge" by Cidco Communications. Check www.cidcocom.com/merge for info on this produce. I've never used it, nor seen it other than a ad in one of the many CES/CEA publications from Vegas. It looks promising.

There are tradeoffs to each service... you pick the one that works for you. The industry will improve this service in due time.

What locked can also mean is that the former carrier that sold the phone had a sublock code programmed. Without that code, the NAM cannot be programmed. Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular all use these codes. A carrier cannot deny giving you the sublock (or SPC code) if your are porting in/out.

Re: Car Mopunted Antennas

Wilson Electronics sells adaptors for most phones as well as magnet mount antennas. Tessco.com sells just about any antenna under the sun. The best vehicle antenna would be a roof mount. That involves drilling a 3/4" hole in your roof (not for the faint of heart). The next best thing would be a magnet mount then a glass mount. Assuming all of them have a full wave whip for a 3db gain, not a 1/4 wave short whip which is ...

There is a new color coming out, silver instead of gunmeta/gray. It can be exchanged, however I wouldn't let some rinky-dink place in the mall screw it up for you.

If it has an SPC, you'll just need to obtain it. Call your carrier to do that. Otherwise, your new carrier will need to program it and load their PRL into the phone. In some cases, this will require a PC with appropriate cables and software.
