A note about text messaging (Re: When is Verizon going to wise up? Pro's and Con's)
Sep 23, 2004, 3:12 PM
in the Verizon forum

Just yesterday I got two messages that I did not ask for. One of them was from Verizon advertizing Get-It-Now and the other was inviting me to a text community. The verizon message was free (I hope, since it started with "free msg.") but the other wasn't. I am not necessarily advocating free incoming text messages (although it would be nice) but if someone received a lot of messages like my second one yesterday I can see why they would ...

The Vibrate and High option is simultaneous. My much older LG VX10 had more ringer and vibrate options. I too am happy with the 4500. The reception is great and the speakerphone feature is really helpful.

You know what, forget it. I am going to take your advice and just get the LG VX4500. There have been a ton of threads related to what might be coming out in the future and there has not been a clear answer. Even if something comes out that matches the 4500 in features there is no gaurantee that it will have the same quality and I really could use the speakerphone in the car now. I am off to the ...

That's what I'm wondering too I know people can't give specifics but is there a VZW rep or someone who can give hints as to whether or not anything matching my description in my original post will be coming out real soon (good reception, good audio quality, non-camera flip/clamshell phone with two displays (preferred, one OK), speakerphone and multiple vibrate and ring settings including vibrate then ring (although I will compromise on this as well since the 4500 doesn't have ...

I Am eligible to upgrade. Should I do it now or wait a little while?

I have Verizon and am now eligible to upgrade. If I were to do it now I would get the LG VX4500. I am wondering if I should upgrade now or wait a little while (preferably no more than a month or so) for something new with the same basic features? The features I am interested in are good reception, good audio quality, non-camera flip/clamshell phone with two displays (preferred, one OK), speakerphone and multiple vibrate and ring settings including vibrate then ...

How about the same thing but for ringtones (MIDI/MP3)? Is it to @vtext.com or is there something else for that.

From my message on August 30, 2004 at 10:48 AM: My 2-year contract expires 11/10/2004 and I become eligible for a phone upgrade (NE2) 9/10/2004. If indeed the expiration date was implemented on 11/25/2002 then I have no expiration date because I signed up on 11/10/2002 just 15 days before the expiration date was implemented.

Oops. It should say "make it easier for people to see all posts" This reminds me, has anyone suggested allowing people to edit their own posts? It might be a good idea although I can see problems with it as well so maybe not.

I too would like to say that I like this format. I just think that it might need a little tweaking in order to make it easier for people to all posts in a (sub)thread before reponding. Here is part of something I posted in the Verizon forum earlier: Re: Next Gen VZW phones. by snate Today, 12:32 AM ...message... PS. I don't mean to throw a bone to a hungry pack of wolves (a.k.a. another bit of info to fight over) but this is the information I got (copied from a message I posted at 1:41 pm August 3, 2004). Thanks for the info schnozejt and VZWguru, I stopped by my local Verizon Store after lunch (Cupertino, CA, near San Jose) and asked about it. I also called Verizon just to make sure. Both times I was told that there is no time limit on using NE2. The only limit is that I can't use it before then set date (September 10, 2004 in my case) but after that I can use it anytime and my next NE2 date ...

What is "SUPER soon". Can anyone get any more specific than that? And what type of phones? My 2-year contract expires 11/10/2004 and I become eligible for a phone upgrade (NE2) 9/10/2004. Is anything new coming out Spetember/October. I am looking at either a LG VX4500 or a Samsung SCH-A650 but am willing to wait a little while longer for something better with similar features. The features I am interested in are good reception, good audio quality, non-camera flip/clamshell ...

You should take a look at the LG VX4500. Based on the reviews and discussion here it is the only phone with external display and speakerphone that is any good, unfortunately it is not tri-mode. None of the other speakerphones are tri-mode AND worth looking at. The Audiovox 8600 may be OK but I wouldn't be too sure based on what I've read and also the company (Audiovox) has sold its cell phone division so you ...

Normally I am not gullible and truthfully I really believe somewhere something like that could have happenned. I wasn't kidding about the couch/couches. That really did happen. People still scratch their heads about that one. The campus center building is in the middle of campus and it is locked at night (or is supposed to be) and somehow a couple of new couches were there one day and gone the next.

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the manual and it is actually the "Folder Open" option (Folder Open? Must be a translation glitch) that controls answering when opened. Any Key does what you said above. Here it is from the manual. Call Answer You can select a specific answer mode when you receive an incoming call. Your phone can be preset to answer when you do any of the following: Ӣ SEND key: Press [picture of send button] to answer an incoming call. Ӣ Any ...

I have talked to many people with phones, Samsung included, without external displays who can't open their phone without answering it and they say that they might as well not even have Caller ID and are upset about it. Does the Samsung SCH-A650 allow you to turn off "answer when opened" or whatever it is called so that you can actually see who is calling and decide if you need to take this call right now? Thanks

Great. Just since this morning this phone has been taken off Verizon's Web Site. I still don't see a replacement phone for it. The Samsung SCH-A650 is a newer phone but I don't consider it a replacement since it doesn't have any outside display (monochrome or color). Does anyone if a true replacement for the SCH-A530 is coming from Samsung (a non-camera flip phone with two dislpays and multiple vibrate and ring settings including vibrate then ring (speakerphone would ...

I have been going nuts trying to figure out which phone to upgrade to based on features I would like. I currently have a LG VX10 and have been considering the LG VX4500 or LG VX4600 (which I may not be able to get). I looked at the Audiovox CDM-8600 but decided against it. Finally after reading about the Samsung SCH-A530 I decided that it is the phone for me. I can't upgrade untill September 10 but ...

How does the Vibrate + High Volume work? Does it vibrate and ring simultaneously? Or Does it vibrate then ring? Thanks PS. I know about double posting. I just wanted to make sure someone saw this post and both the 4500 and 4600 are similar in this regard or so I have heard.
