!!!...Got Mine...!!!
Jul 9, 2012, 5:30 PM
in the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) forum

Mine arrived Friday, July 6th, 11am, FedEx... Initial impressions are very positive... But there are many new twists here... and it will take a while to put it all in perspective... Put in the cute "sim" card, my 32GB SD card, the battery, and then completed the online activation routine at VZW... Then fired it up... and it was OTA activated and ready to go in about a minute... Complete review in a couple of weeks... after a complete "shakedown" and testing... Later... ~TMBS~

That's a great idea... You go ahead and get youself an iPhone... then you can go discuss Siri and non-replaceable batteries on all the " i-i-i-i-i-i " forums... I'm sure you'll be very happy... :D ~TMBS~

You must remember that the Verizon version of the S3 is the ONLY one that is CDMA & GSM capable.. Plus, on release Verizon may need a far larger quantity of handsets than any other carrier... Relax... It will only be a couple weeks behind the others... Right now, a July 10, release looks very possible... ~TMBS~

Re: Did you have to give up unlimiited data plan?
Jun 8, 2012, 8:59 PM
in the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) forum

NO ....!!! I went through the online pre-order system and it allowed me keep my plan just as it was... I have an old Family 500 plan - 2 extra lines - Unlimited Data plan on my line only and the old 250 text message plan for $5... They allowed me to keep everything the same... :) However, when they go to the shared data plans, later this summer, I may change... because, just like Talk Minutes, they let you share the ...

Mines on order... "Blue/32" of course"
Jun 7, 2012, 10:40 PM
in the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) forum

Have ordered a Blue 32GB unit... Verizon claims it will ship on July 9th... Time to retire my Droid-X... It was an excellent phone, no problems... But it is getting old... I was hoping to have a choice for the Droid Razr Maxx HD (or whatever it will be called) or the Galaxy S-lll but the long rumored Maxx update remains "just" a rumor... My only complaint with the Moto Droids is that they are awful slow on the updates... That ...

in the Motorola Droid X forum

For those who are not getting the battery life you would like... Along with the other power saving ideas mentioned in this forum... You might want to try turning OFF the "AUTO" mode in the display brightness setting, and then manually set your display brightness to the absolute lowest level... This is still plenty bright on my unit... and this has made a considerable increase in my battery life... Let us know if this noticeably helps with your battery life... ~TMBS~

Re: Heads-Up... SD card problem with DARE...
Dec 21, 2008, 2:26 PM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

Look at the card carefully... you will see a small circle (it is actually a stylized capital C) with a number in it... it will be a 2, 4, or 6 (8's are just coming out)... this has to do with the guaranteed sustained write-speed of the card... This is an industry standard ONLY on SDHC cards (all SD cards larger than 2GB)... Here's good info: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Defaul t.aspx?CatID=1441 http://www.wisegeek.com/ what-are-sdhc-cards.htm ~TMBS~

Re: is music player stereo?
Dec 3, 2008, 4:59 AM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

The simple answer...YES The DARE only has a single speaker, so when you play your tunes through the on-board speaker it will combine both stereo channels for a "so-so" mono output... The headset output, both Wired and Bluetooth, is stereo capable (with a stereo headset)... and the wired headset jack is a standard 3.5mm headset jack, so most any stereo headset works just fine... ~TMBS~

Heads-Up... SD card problem with DARE...
Nov 29, 2008, 1:13 AM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

There have been ongoing reports of the DARE locking up during access to the expansion card (reading or writing)... I have now narrowed down the combination that causes the problem... After much testing with dozens of microSD 2GB, 4GB & 8GB / Class(2), (4) & (6) and with 4 DAREs, a clear problem has been found... The DARE does not like 4GB and 8GB Class(6) cards... All other sizes and all cards of Class (2) or (4) do not cause any ...

Jul 18, 2008, 12:09 AM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

At max resolution you can probably crop out the picture you want... You can go to edit right on the phone, crop what you want, and then double tap the "check mark" to save it... works great... It saves the edited version as a new image so you still have the original, in case you screw up... ~TMBS~

SORRY... We also just got the Chocolate 3... The memory info I gave was for that phone... The CORRECT memory info for the DARE is: The DARE has 147MB of internal memory for use by all the phone (communications) functions of the DARE... AND it has over 121MB of internal memory for Multi-Media use... And it will except any microSD card up to 8GB... Again... Sorry ~TMBS~

You can easily enter the "silent" mode by holding down the [#] key for 3 or 4 seconds... Then the alarms set for the "alarm clock" are delivered by vibrate... It seems to work well... And the front screen then lets you turn it off, or "snooze"... ~TMBS~

Re: Phone Memory Versus SD Memory
Jul 16, 2008, 6:08 PM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

Mark... At the speed of most phone CPUs it is really not an issue (internal and external flash memory are likely to easily keep up with the CPU)... However... you would be well advised to move to the internal phone memory any media file (pictures, videos, sounds, wallpaper images, etc.) that you have set for use by the phone... That way if the microSD card is removed, or altered for any reason, the phone will continue to work as you expect... ...

Yah... I found it right after my post... NOW... Did some testing... You ain't gonna believe this... 1-Charge your phone fully... 2-Unplug charging cord... 3-Turn phone OFF... 4-Plug in Charging Cord (keep holding phone) 5-After 10-15 Seconds the phone will "beep" 3 times and put up a "Charging" graphic... 6-Place the back of the phone hear your ear... 7-Because the phone is already fully charged, within 30-60 seconds it will make a tiny chirp (but clearly audible with the back of the phone held near your ear) ...

The 3.5mm jack will accommodate a headset with a microphone, just like the iPhone... In fact any iPhone wired headset will work fine... There is also a Four conducter 3.5mm Male to 2.5mm Female adapter dongle for the iPhone that works perfectly on the DARE... Then you can use any standard 2.5mm cellphone headset.... http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iP hone-female-Headset-Adapter/dp/B00191PP9U/ref =sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1216153132&sr= 8-2 There are plenty more... Re: movie display size
Jul 15, 2008, 3:09 PM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

OK... But the 320x240 display area is a 4x3 aspect ration (Old style fullscreen TV)... Any WS movie material will usually have an aspect ratio wider than 2x1, in which case when it was displayed with a 320 width it would have less than a 160 high... Any HD TV formated material would have an aspect ratio of 16x9 and would have a similar display problem... Yet, if the Dare would let you use the full 400 pixel width, the ...

in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

Pego... I have tried all of the iPod profiles in Magic Video Converter Ver-8 and they will not generate any file that will display in the full 400x240 pixels of DARE display... I have created many files that will play at 400x240 in QuickTime... but when played on the DARE they are displayed at 320x192... If I create a true 16x9 file at 400x225 the DARE plays it at 320x180... It seems to me that the DARE restricts video playback to QVGA (320v240)... ...

Got the Blue one for the wife... Call quality is excellent both incoming and outgoing audio... Seems to do very good in low signal areas, better than expected for an internal antenna phone... Battery life seems satisfactory... But... Remember that with cell handsets battery life is dependent on actual use of the phone and its functions by the user, and how close the handset is to a cell tower during calls... So it will be different for each user, and can vary ...

Yes... And it works very well... I picked up a Powder Blue Chocolate 3 for my wife today (Sunday, July14)... It has over 1GB of internal memory... not the 140MB often indicated... There is 140MB dedicated to "phone use only" and 900MB dedicated to "media use only"... It handles a 4GB microSD card just fine... It took about a minute for it to read the MP3 tags and organize 250 songs... (it only has to do this once) It does NOT have ...

Sep 9, 2006, 1:53 AM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I would not suggest either the freezer, or direct sunlight... Either may damage a phone you said was working perfectly... Now... on to your original request... We have 3 LG VX8300 phones... each has a small rectangle sticker on the battery itself between the contact terminals of the battery AND a small round "dot" about 1/8 inch in diameter on the bottom wall of the battery compartment... each of these contain white backgrounds imprinted with numerous red "+" signs... None ...

Aug 1, 2006, 10:26 PM
in the LG VX-8500 Chocolate forum

The reason that I would not give the onboard speakers anything above a "very good" is that there is greatly diminished response below 150cps... which is still very good for such small audio drivers... and the full music spectrum response of the onboard mini-speakers is far from flat, with high outputs spikes around 650, 800 and 1200cps... (and yes, I do have a audio spectrum analyzer and MP3 test files)... The considerable audio distortion and lack of flat response at ...

Re: Anyone Run Into This??

in the LG VX-8300 forum

It sounds like your phone is switching from the Verizon "Main Network" to the "Extended Network"... The *86 function only works when your phone is using the Main Verizon network... When the *86 function does NOT seem to be working, check your main screen and see if it says "Extended Network" or if the extended network icon, or roam icon, are showing... BTW... Set your own phone number as one of the single number speed dials... then it only takes one keystroke ...

The current version of BitPim (0.09.05) fully supports the VX-5200... It does NOT directly support the VX-5300... But it will probably do minimal support on the 5300 as an "Other CDMA phone"... If you really meant the 5300, then standby, the 5300 should be fully supported within 60 days... ~TMBS~
