Service down....

We woke up Sunday morn to no service in our area. zip 27814. (On the bright side, nobody's phones went off in church). This is a predominately uscellular market. Monday, still no service. If we drive a couple miles over we will pick up a different tower and can make calls. The last time this happened I did just that, called customer service, and then just had a laughable conversation something like: Me: We don't ...

Not even Alltel huh? That's the other partner in the uprepaid group. I think it's just a dud. There is only 1 phone you can use as far as smartphones go, the Ascend y. They used to have another but discontinued it. Support has been really bad as well. They don't speak English and on Aug 5, I was on hold for an hour and a half before getting a rep. The ...

Walmart has been carrying uscc's uprepaid for a year now. Phones and refill cards. Of course in a year or more uscc has only allowed one smart phone for this service and it's junk.

Huawei Ascend Y That's the only smart phone that works with the www.uprepaid.net service. That is the us cellular one. Since it's a partnership with alltel, they may offer a different phone. This service is $50 per month with unlimited talk/text and 2gb data. The actual prepaid service directly from us cellular costs more, ?? $65 ?? per month but its possible you get a choice of more phones. They keep saying with the prepaid you won't get 4g ...

Thanks again. I know this is old. I found out now that uprepaid will work out here and is only $50 per line with the 2gb data plan.

The new uprepaid service looks extremely promising. We get a good discount on our monthly service and this uprepaid is STILL going to be $40 less per month. Still checking on a smart phone. I guess with this service you can only use the hawaii ascend phone which has the worst ratings of any phone I've looked at. I wish they would take my motorola m. But for 2 phones with 2gb data each, a flat ...

Thank you for the reply. Sorry, just saw it as we were out of town for Christmas. Since today is the last day of bogo we'll probably go ahead and get them.....for $79 you can't really go wrong for a Motorola.

Hi, Thanks very much for your time/response. Yes we currently are USCC customers. The $88 comes from the $99 per month plan which is unlimited talk and text. We get a 5% discount for auto bill pay, and a 20% discount from being a state employee. So it's $75 per month plus taxes which totals $88. Thanks for the tip on U Prepaid, but it won't work out here. We're very limited basically ...

Hey, thanks for the reply. We live out in the sticks... My Motorola w385 simply gets better reception than other brands. Do you think this is the same with the new smartphones? M vs SIII Did I see where it was less fragile as well?

I've been checking, my phone is pretty much dead and that limits me to a choice of 4 phones I can get without a data plan. We pay ~$88 per month after taxes for unlimited minutes and texts. If I add the 2gb data plan to our phones our cost jumps to $133.49 give or take after taxes. BUT, if we switch to prepaid, we would have our 2 lines and 1gb data per phone with ...

Hello MaxyMax, Thank you for your response. I went to town yesterday and spoke with a sales rep. She was surprised I was having reception problems with the Banter and said that the Samsungs had worse reception than LGs. But after trying two different LG models with no success and previously owning a Motorola which worked great I guess Its Motorola or bust! It was sad that they aren't carrying Motorola anymore. I saw ...

Thank you very much Joshiwa, I very much appreciate your response and will check into T9 texting. I'm sorry my original post came across rudely. I was annoyed that the only way to continue with US Cellular was to pay more money, or simply give up using cell phones. They seem to have a way to getcha.... once in awhile. I hope you have a Very Blessed Day Old Fart

Phones for the rest of us?

Are there any new phones coming out for normal plans? I saw the post below about new phones coming but I think those are all smart phones? USCellular is killing me. My wife wanted texting so they talked her into changing plans. Now our bill went up to ~100. They "swear" there's no way to get our old plan back. Now, the thing is, out of all their phones, I guess I only have the ...
