Re: phone reception
No two phones of the same model necessarily give the same level of reception. Typically, phones with external antennas give better reception than those with internal antennas. It's been my experience that some phones with internal antennas will outperform in some cases. GSM Nokias all have internal antennas, yet typically yield better reception than motorola flips with external antennas. Flips typically don't get the reception of bar factor phones, but tend to be more popular. ...
SunCom!
SunCom will also be releasing this to our customers. I'm curious what cingular will do with them if the swap goes through.
Re: Using AT&T sim w/ Suncom Sidekick
I know! Most likely, if you could unlock it, the phone part would work. The rest of the device would be useless unless used on a provider with a connection to Danger. All of the other features on a hiptop are powered by servers run by Danger. SunCom certainly won't give you the unlock code, AT&T wouldn't have it. You may be able to find it on the internet, but enter it wrong 3 ...
Re: funny stories over the last few days?
Oh my god, I swear I had a guy who must have been passing a sofa cushion. I couldn't believe he couldn't find a better time to discuss his cell phone bill.
Re: Talked to my Market Manager
Um...most likely DOJ and FCC will make both ATTWS and Cingular divest in markets that overlap. This means they'll have to sell spectrum.
burns me up

I really hate when that damn sound that signals an incoming call comes, and in drops someone who doesn't even know their information. How the hell can you not know your phone number.

It's the same on all the nokias
Re: anyone ever have a customer go completely postal on ya??
Only good thing about being a CSR, xfr to sup queue, postal person gone.

Re: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
Our insurance company has told people that they wouldn't cover the truth.

Re: Do Cingular customers get to use ATTWS cell towers?
I don't know for sure, but through roaming, I do know that some towers are cross registering.
Re: real talk
Is that like the world's best coffee (as judged by a panel of Waffle House experts.) ?
Re: ATT cracks me up!
Usually, retention offers are in place. The problem with customers who've been around for a while is that they think they're entitled to something. More minutes, a free phone, etc. Even more of them freak out if you offer them something and they HAVE TO TAKE A CONTRACT.
I of course wasn't privy to your conversation, but I highly doubt that if you were transfered to a retention group, that they offered you nothing. ...
Re: Now I know why everybody hates AWS
AWS hasn't taken over SunCom. I work for them. At this point, AWS is merging with Cingular, and renigging on their agreements with us. Other agreements have been struck.
BTW, the reason most activations take so long is Atlys, quite possibly the worst written billing system to come down the pike. If you're going to push your data from the server, then have simpler screens.
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
Dude, half the time, the customers can't figure out who they are or what they're mobile number is. I've gotten to saying things like, "Don't call yourself much, do you?"
Re: funny stories over the last few days?
On my desk, I have a picture of a rotary wireless phone. It's from a 1982 Bell System phone catalog for car phones. "Magically displays the number you are calling."
Re: Porting problems!
I remember the Verizon port I got involved in. it was a port from us to them. Verizon had messed it up in NPAC, and all they had to do is release it and we'd send it back to them. The rep who was calling in had already spoken to our porting department, and refused to do what we had asked, and hung up. I got the call from out care group, and told the ...

I suppose a lot of people say pascetti as well.
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
For insurance...if you're filing a claim...do yourself a favor, always say it's lost/stolen.
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
The worst part of being a CSR where I am is the time statistics. A group called "workforce management" controls every aspect of time in your day. The decide your shift, your days off (which never seem to be together), your break times, your lunch times. They decide if you can take a vacation when you want to. They decide if your calls are too long.
The greatest thing about this, they're not your boss, ...
Re: jacks & accessories
and often it's events like this that make me think the 1984 breakup of the bell system may have been the biggest calamity to befall mankind.
Re: Employee made fish face at customer?
I think I would have laughed my a$$ off, called the employee on it, and then insisted. Doesn't say much for your cousin.
Re: at&t 2q results
Okay, I got it half right, Cingular is formed from old cell companies, but not from a merger of 2 baby bells. Cingular is owned by two baby bells. Verizon is the merger of 2 baby bells.
Re: Porting problems!
From the back end, without fail, Sprint causes the most problems. makes sense, their SPID is 6664. such is the mark of the beast
Re: Funny stories in wireless
I'm still amazed at the number of people who "mash" the menu button, and can't pronounce nokia.
Re: funny stories over the last few days?
not much but the freak lady who's acct passcode was "jesus"
Re: jacks & accessories
all of nokias chargers are compatible, there are currently two makes of earpieces. motorola has 2 or three charging systems, no idea of the earpieces.
Re: NOKIA: The Worst Cell Maker...
Nokia is the closest thing to Western Electric I've seen in mobile technology. Their phones work and they last. The only majorly bad Nokia I ever encountered was the 1260/2260. I don't know how you can say this unless you're on the hunt for the blingphone. I'm so sick of people on the hunt for the blingphone. So let me see...
My takeon mobile manufacturers:
-Motorola - complicated software and the most difficult programming due to ...
Re: nokia 3560 question
The should be under profiles. Choose the profile and customize it. a list of ringing tones can be selected. the default is always the god awful nokia tune.
Re: at&t 2q results
Who gives a rip. You act like it's money in you're pocket. They're just as likely to cut your job to post a gain this quarter.
Sure Verizon has better coverage, everyone knows that. If you were the evil empire, and had bought most of the 20 year old cell companies and were using their network to patch the holes in your digital network, then you'd have good coverage too. Unfortunately, ATTWS, Cingular, Sprint ...
Re: ANYONE KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK A NOKIA 3300 MUSIC PHONE
yeah, you just need the subsidy lock code :P
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
I'd settle for store reps who didn't lie to me when I ask them if they already programmed the phone.
Re: Phones that you can hear it ring through the Headset
I think the cdma version of my nokia 3200 will do it. 3205, I think
Re: hm...
Nay, they're releasing them to SunCom as Hiptops as well.
Re: experience?
I feel your pain.
For 80 years, people were happy so long as they picked up a phone, and there was a dial tone. Now, I have some twit calling me because the date won't show on her phone. I like to help people, actually. I like to help people with for real problems. Not having the date under the alpha tag on your phone doesn't constitute a problem. My personal favorite though, are ...
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
I dare you to find someone who enjoys constantly talking to people in a call center about their problems with their cell phone or bill. The lying, the bitching, the ineptness of others they've talked to before you, the lack of information you're provided, the insane software issues, the bad equipment that you can't say is bad equipment, etc. The only thing that saves me sometimes is the comments I make to myself with the mute key. ...
Re: experience?: ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE 101
Hehehehe...reminds me of our C&A dept.
Re: Next big merger
the deal they're involved in is trading virginia coverage for the part of north carolina they don't have. This gives contiguous coverage over north and south carolina, where t-mobile has no coverage. This is why I think it makes SunCom a target by t-mobile
