This is a great example of poor planning. Reminds me of when IPv6 was first developed, most people didn't quite understand why it was developed and still has not been widely implemented.
In the IT industry they realized that IPv4 was not going to remain a long-term solution for the licensing of IP addresses and quickly worked to develop it's successor years before IPv4 will reach this same crisis...

I recommend to google search for subsidy unlock. There's third parties out there you can pay to unlock the phone for you. Cingular blue will not do it and Cingular Orange will make you jump through hoops to acquire it... No easy task.
Pay the $5 - $20 to a third party, get Cingular Tech to help you unlock it. It's an easier path.

Blame the customer's for being easily manipulated... I have come to accept that ultimately the customer is responsible for their decisions and wether or not they choose to inform themselves.
But on the flip side... It's not like lies don't float around the industry to get the sale. So no carrier is above taking advantage of the consumers ignorance.

It's anything less than 20 sec... For safe measures on dead air calls I just drag them out to 1 minute before releasing.

The thing is they don't fight the facts... Nobody argues the facts... You just take it upon yourself to remind us of this on a regular basis... This upsets people, oh yeah... And you never say anything good about cingular...

That's fine... I have to do I don't know how many RRRR-RU's a day bcz blue reps are issuing credits with absolutely no notes... and then... they exceed the $175 cap!
Sure enough... everytime I search their CUID... It's blue reps, or previous blue reps, or outsourced.
None of which were legacy Cingular reps.

It would be the International codes, but I would double check with customer care just to verify the feature are or are not on your account. :wink:

It does renew his contract, yes. But the policy itself states the Account itself must be in good standing for at least 90 days.
Regardless of the contract renewal this customer due to his tenure would qualify for both International Roam and the Subsidy Unlock...

If it's any consolation Cingular expects the same from reps... However you can never force a person to read the information provided to them. Not customer's... and unfortunately not all reps.
You'd be amazed at the efforts Cingular puts to relay information to employees... Some employees just don't read the information... For whatever reasons.
Sad to say but the best way I have found by working here to resolve issues is to deal with appropriate departments... If it's technical, deal with ...

I know what you mean... What I'm stating is overall we look at win/win situations... Sure we could make more with inter roam... But we're still making money and he stays loyal.
Nobody will deny him this on a manager level... Especially when CSP states he's eligible on a rep's level of authority.

I would also like to add, per Cingular's policy on the Subsidy Unlock Code this customer does qualify to recieve the unlock code... So the argument is futile.

I can't find any data settings for the s710, that's the only Init String I can find as well... CSP does have this info though:
"For any settings not listed above, or any other information not listed here, advise the customer to contact their device's manufacturer or Bluetooth.com.

You guys have no idea what you're talking about... None of this situation is complicated. Through protocol this customer will be able to save $300, get the subsidy unlock, and not endure the headaches you're all imposing on him.
You don't just say no... You find the facts first... Then make the decision.

Do this...
Add Int'l Roam & Int'l Dial Allowed to your account. You don't have to use it, you don't have to add a package. Just request those two features. Request to be transferred to Tech Support.
Tell tech support you need the Subsidy Unlock Code for your Treo 650 and that you meet all requirements. Tech Support will submit the form to request your Subsidy Unlock (72 hour overlay)
You should be fine then. Either have Tech or PalmOne assist ...
