This reminds me of the scene in Full Metal Jacket where the drill sargeant tells Pyle that if it wasn't for people like him, (who left things unlocked) there wouldn't be any thieves in the world. In my apartment building a few months ago, we had a few break ins and thefts in one night. All the people that were broken into had left their door unlocked.

You're doing it wrong.
If you're going to be a smart ass and correct grammar and spelling, do it right. The last comma between ago and and is unnecessary. It would only need to be there if the word I was in front of have. The sentence is not a compound sentence without the subject. The only other reason for that comma would be to denote a pause, but that is unnecessary in this situation.
