Re: reminds me of 2005
Don't really see a problem at all here. CDMA to GSM conversions are much simpler than IDEN to CDMA. (The main problem there was frequency issues not network types) ATT has had to do this in some areas with Alltel customers. TMobile has the advantage of having an LTE network already built in MetroPCS areas. I've had Tmobile for some time now and I don't really have coverage issues even in rural areas due to roaming agreements with other ...
Camera Question for Eric
I liked the review. However, we didn't get a comparison of cameras between the S4 and the HTC One. Which one is better and why? Thanks.
Re: Phone is a fail as a whole
This is the exact same phone as the Optimus G without the bloatware and a slight redesign of the case. The phonescoop review says it hangs with the GSIII and iPhone 5 as one of the best phones on the market and is the best phone ever built by LG. I'm also perplexed by the absolute need for LTE. Is 42 Mbps not fast enough? If you absolutely need LTE, get the Optimus G on ATT's network. By all ...

You have got to be kidding me.
This is insanity in action. Let me get the right: I'm supposed to worry about Huawei and ZTE for "hacking" back doors that our government required them to install when we paid them to make the equipment? We've got the CIA admitting in Wired Magazine that they spy on us through our appliances  The smart meter on your house tells the electric company exactly what electric devices you are using. Re: You don't negotiate with terrorists Google
You do realize that Google is and has always been DARPA since its inception? As a matter of fact, you can even Google recent articles that outline how Federal Courts have ruled that the NSA and Google do NOT have to release information about how they work together to the public. The truth is that the very first day Apple gets to big for its britches so to speak, we're going to magically see Congress call for hearings on ...

So is 1x and edge allowed in the 800MHz band? If so not just Sprint will benefit because that means the Big Two can refarn its 2G in the 800 band for LTE.
Actually, it's yes and no.
Sprint and SouthernLinc are the only companies that use 800mhz. ATT and VZW use the 850 band(even though technically it is a different band of 800)...
So it's not that ATT or VZW are barred from using it or that Sprint has ...

Someone got to the Judge...
Someone from DARPA or the NSA had a talk with the Judge...
Re: Inb4
Pretty sure he was referring to BigRed's habit of trolling Sprint articles while praising VZW and trashing Sprint.
Well this is only 100+ years late...
Tesla had this going 100 years ago before Edison and the US gov't had him killed and raided his labs for everything he ever invented.

Is there a time when you don't troll the site just waiting to talk $%^& about Sprint?

Re: So was WiMax a success then?
I like the part where you totally ignore the endgame and focus only on the initial struggles. By your definition, Verizon Wireless and ATT are complete failures. Thank you for your message from whatever planet it is that you are from.

Re: How does 800mhz LTE compare to 700mhz LTE?
I'm guessing you are saying that because you think capacity will be an issue. It won't be. We are still only talking about 1900 LTE on the 5x5 channel. 800 LTE hasn't been determined. The other way to overcome capacity issues is to have more towers... which Sprint does.

There are online videos showing the fully armed Dept of Homeland Security thugs raiding Soc Sec offices and loading kids on buses for drills. It's here and they've been drilling for it for a while now.

Prison State Indoctrination. The TSA is the SS. The Private Soldiers of the Administration. Nothing they do is authorized by the constitution and they are and illegal group of thugs who like to grope little kids.
Re: Pre-Crime
Nothing you said changes the fact that any mandate or law that bans you from using your cell phone is unconstitutional. Period. No argument. No humanitarian BS. Nothing you can say will ever make your ban legal. There are already laws that cover driving while using a cell phone. It's called RECKLESS DRIVING!!!!! But get this... You and your socialist buddies who want to pass these kinds of laws are trying to hold people responsible for "pre-crimes" that have ...

No. Even if you were correct, there is already a law. It's called RECKLESS DRIVING. No need for anymore bureaucratic socialist laws that will cost the tax payers millions and solve nothing.

Re: What is TDD-LTE?
It's the type of carrier signal.
For example, CDMA = Code Division Multiple Access
TDMA= Time Division Multiple Access
GSM is based on Frequency division or FDD
The LTE brought to you by Verizon and ATT is FDD-LTE. In other words the carrier signals are divided by frequency allocation.
Clear is using TDD-LTE. It's carrier signal will be split using Time Division.
TDD-LTE is supposed to be much faster than FDD-LTE but we won't know exactly until the network is up and running.
TDD-LTE ...

Regardless of political beliefs you can trace the downfall of traditional American values to Lincoln's inaugural address when he rejected a state's right to succeed. Without the fear of the people both as a whole and as individual states the Federal Government will know no bounds.

Re: Socialism
Well said, sir. You would think some of these people never went to school. Anyone who thinks that Social Security, Welfare etc founded our country should be shipped off to an island to starve. Good grief. As far as it being "socialist" I'd say that it's closer to fascist. The FCC is a government entity and it our government is run by Corporations and Banks. So that = fascism. Socialism is a way to manage citizens by the government... ...
Re: How does 800mhz LTE compare to 700mhz LTE?
So far, it's only the 1900 LTE doing the 5x5. This doesn't affect speed. It affects capacity. Sprint has a ton of towers though. I haven't read how The lower spectrum for 800 will also improve building penetration. Over all I think the 800 will hold it's own nicely against the other guy's 700 band. I think the idea of lighting up 9600 towers with 800 LTE just made the "big boys" drop a loaf.
Re: So was WiMax a success then?
How is it an "idiot move"? They ended up being able to have a large chunk of good spectrum to use for LTE (800). They will even have enough 1900 to use LTE on it... The merger wasn't smooth, but the endgame was worth it. A ton of new customers and spectrum better suited to the tech they need to deploy.
Re: " I don't necessarily take issue with granting LS new spectrum..."
The thing I like best is how you know everything because of your years of being on the FCC. Could you show us the contract that LightSquared signed so we can get the inside info like you?

Re: It's Very Simple
I agree. Think objectively. So ATT is basically upset that they weren't allowed to fire these people themselves.
Let's be real here. If ATT would have bought Tmobile, they would have only postponed this layoff and ATT's layoff numbers would probably be higher as they have shed many more jobs than this during previous buyout/merger processes.
The FCC cited this as one of the reasons that ATT should not buy Tmobile. Because the layoffs would be greater than if Tmobile ...
