Re: A Droid BlackBerry?!

Forget the Droid business email and go with Touchdown - a $20 add on - it is a better email client and will separate your work(exchange)/ personal(gmail) email in a better way. Use the built in for Gmail works great. When you use the built in exchange client it mashes all your mail, contact and calendar into one confusing pile IMHO.

If it's like the Droid 2 which I think it is you can create as many as you like. It starts with 5 I think and I added 1... But until someone is hands on that would be a guess.

Re: more garbage from motorola

in the Motorola Droid Pro forum

Having been a Blackberry user for 10 years I like my Droid 2 a lot - with only a few complaints like battery life and I need Touchdown for Exchange... But how do you get to "garbage" having not seen the Pro yet and what Motorola phones have you used hands on to make that claim. Not a Motorola fan per se this is my first phone from them ever... Anyway, just wondering how you get ...

That may be true and I may even agree but look at Android marketshare growth but more interesting is, that according to at least one survey, 26% of current Blackberry users plan on going with Android next device. I'm just saying'. The real issue for me too is ATT coverage is weak in my house and where I need it most when traveling - although I was just on "Main Street" downtown Charlotte, NC and dropped my ...

Very good Scribed3d, thanks. I actually decided to get both (That's really not a decision is it)... And return one within 30 days. I picked up the Torch and am very impressed so far $200 no rebate card. I am having an issue with SMS I think it have to do with my Tour SMS Crunch or the transfer from Verizon settings to ATT device using the wizard. I should not have used the device switch ...

Interesting. I hate the web browser on my Tour. The Torch looks pretty good and maybe fixed in that regard. Since it is primarily a business phone maybe the (my particular) better choice is the Torch. In my case - I can't imagine that less than 1ghz processor will make my mail, BBM or camera slower or worse (video maybe). In the end there has been a lot about the speed of the 1ghz ...

Blackberry -> Droid 2 ? Business Use
Aug 13, 2010, 9:06 AM
in the Article: Verizon Offering Early Upgrade Pricing to Droid 2, Too forum

I am due for an upgrade on VZW and have had a Blackberry on BES since the beginning of time for business. I am intrigued by the Droid 2 and am || that close to switching to the Droid 2. For any of you who have converted please use this thread to convince me to stay or go... So far I think BBM would be gone (of course) as would really good messaging support using BES ...

Re: Replace Storm with Tour?

in the BlackBerry Storm 9530 forum

I have fallen back in like with the Storm. The clear screen and the added stability of the latest OS release have kept me from doing what I was inclined to do - run out and get the Tour. I especially concluded that after seeing my wife's new HTC Ozone - which has a full keyboard but reminded me what a phone is like when you lose half of the screen to a keyboard. So I ...

in the Article: Verizon and Sprint to Add Wi-Fi to BlackBerries forum

I can't get over how much the phone/carriers cater to the wifi/Starbucks crowd. Wifi is horrendous I much prefer the consistency of the CDMA data connection - without the SSID, passwords, nickel and dime wifi operators trying to grab my $9.95 for one day access. Extend my battery life, reduce my form factor and leave the wifi out IMHO.

Ok here is what I have learned: - Battery life: 5 hours standby UNHAPPY - Remove Weatherbug completely - Turn off Yahoo Instant Message - Battery Life: 3 days standby and talk HAPPY Something must be wrong with Weatherbug I cannot confirm that Yahoo chat was the issue since I did two things (saving the post reminding me to never change two things when troubleshooting).

Re: I have to know

Wi-Fi is ridiculous. I guess I fall into the "who cares" crowd. I prefer a cellular network with no hassle connectivity. Wi-Fi always has some hassle with SSIDs, security, poor service quality, someone trying to get $9.99 from you for 10 minutes of usage, lots of accounts, and the general disparate availability. IMHO most of the Starbuck crowd want free wi-fi to show off their device and get some ooohs and aaahhhs. I prefer ...

Battery Issues Go To Verizon Store???
Jun 10, 2009, 8:12 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm 9530 forum

The telereps/support keep telling me that in order to fix my battery issue (~5 hours of standby on both old and brand new battery alike with no apps running except Yahoo chat) I should go to the Verizon store and they can change some settings to fix it. Anyone know what the hell they would do to save me or others the hassle of actually going? I assume it is disable chat to start but that is ...

USABILITY: Why can't light touch show selected letter?
May 6, 2009, 9:05 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm 9530 forum

When I am typing why can't I see the letter popup with light touch before I press screen all the way to get it entered? I think the iPhone shows it just above finger so you are sure you are getting what you want. Otherwise you have to press it and get the wrong letter pressed and then have to backspace to fix when missed (When you miss backspace complete mess begins). Such a small usability ...

OS 4.7.0.141 - Battery And Other Issues

I updated to 141 and now get about 8 hours of standby no calls - dead by 4PM on full charge. 141 POS so far plus some other quirks waking up. My vote is stay away from this one. I miss 103 already downloading 132 instead glutton for punishment I guess.

103 build very stable so far. I love this. No more WSOD - This is my first attempt at chasing leaked updates and am glad I waited for this one... Most of my issues now gone. One more thought. I could never go back to Pearl. I am making so much more use of location GPS, chat clients, and browser on such a great (big) screen. Even the Bold screen is nice but ...

I love the Invisible Shield product from Zagg http://www.zagg.com I installed it (carefully and followed instructions to the T) and not only does the screen not scratch but protects the whole phone. It also is not like those throw away screen protectors that get replaced often - this is very durable and so far not shown any scratches at all. It also did not have the corners lift etc. I am not sure if Verizon will replace ...

Re: A "Stormy" love affair...
Jan 22, 2009, 9:28 PM

It is a little bizarre - it is either the best phone I ever owned or one of the worst - and I really haven't decided yet. I'm leaning towards best even with the .75 quirks. With that said I sort of regret replying to this stupid post encouraging this behavior. BTW - is it me or should Verizon or Blackberry be doing a better job helping the users sort out secret OS releases and some ...

I think it may be connected to your other fingers subtly touching another part of the screen confusing the light touch prior to pressing the full press. That took me some getting used to. Randomly may be another issue.

I think I like it. + Screen is very bright and clear + UI is basically good + Solid BB messaging/platform + Media Manager, photos etc. I was able to rip and load some TV shows as well + 8GB memory chip came with it - Battery seems to be struggling for more than one day - Typing took a little getting used to but now is fine - A little awkward to get used to typing while holding the odd shape - Can't type as fast ...

Re: Are there any other browsers available?
Dec 18, 2008, 1:48 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm 9530 forum

IE and Firefox are not available, that I know of, for the Blackberry - the prior reply was referring to the emulation mode of the Blackberry browser which can be changed under Menu/Options/General Properties. IE and BB are available. Opera I found some compatibility issues and dead ends with the touch screen UI.

www.bongowireless.com I took a Rogers from Canada and it is now working on ATT USA. You have to ship the phone to the company in Toronto. $100 may or may not be worth it...
