It should be launching in early November.

Re: AT&T to BEGIN Deploying 4G in 2011?

People love to bash AT&T every chance they get. I was happy to see an article on Foxnews.com this morning regarding the Apple event last week and they said the Verizon network crashed. If AT&T had that problem it would have been headline news. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/ 02/02/exclusive-scenes-appleverizon-talks/?lo omia_ow=t0:s0:a16:g2:r4:c0.031919:b30199998:z 0

Re: AT&T to BEGIN Deploying 4G in 2011?

in the AT&T forum

The reason AT&T can hold off on deploying LTE is there is still room to expand it's 3G technology. They are updating the 3G speeds now to 7.2 MBPS and could go higher than that if they choose. Verizon is moving away from it's existing 3G technology and has no room for growth using CDMA, so they are being forced to deploy 4G / LTE. AT&T will be testing in 2010 with deployments in 2011. That is the main ...

Well what do you expect for an internal document? Should AT&T be telling its employees that a great new PDA is launching and is only available through Sprint, so make sure to direct your customers to a Sprint store to buy it? I'm sure there were more than 1 comparison documents against the iPhone at all of the other carriers prior to its release.

3G is now being deployed in the 850 MHz band, but that was freed up when the TDMA network was finally taken down in February of 2008. It was taking spectrum from the GPRS/EDGE data network, it was spectrum that had to be allocated to TDMA.

Why bother?

This PDA is about as exciting as Motorola relaunching the DPC 550.

Has anyone tried out the Video Share feature on the Blackjack 2? Its the first PDA with it & I'm curious to see how it works.

AT&T has more Blackberry users on its network than any other carrier. That is why they are the World Leader of Blackberry Service.

The 680 is just a replacement for users that were happy with the 650. It has some improvements but to keep costs down & for users that are primarily concerned with Email & PIM this is a great device. For those that will need the faster speeds for web-browsing they will pay twice as much for the 750 when it launches.

Re: Cingular response to "my circle"??

The "My Circle" offer is also crap since the people you are calling may have to pay for the call on their side, so they aren't going to want to use up all of their minutes talking just because its free for you.

Does anyone know if Cingular is going to get the Pink RAZR?

I work for the company & my wife wants one in pink - but I don't want to pay $300+ for an unlocked one on ebay. Has anyone heard if Cingular will be offering it anytime soon? Maybe before Valentine's day?

in the Article: Cingular Launches Push to Talk forum

I'm not sure if you understand who the target market is for this feature. Its going after the corp & govt market space. There are a lot of organizations that won't leave Nextel unless they can have PTT. The agency may not even use it, but they feel they must have PTT even if they don't like the coverage, voice quality or billing with Nextel. So if Cingular can provide an option that allows instant (more or less) communication ...

Really isn't all PTT a half duplex phone call? I really don't get your point. You sound like Nextel 18's clone.

Re: Voice Enabled?

Video calling will be delayed - they have to further update the backend piece of the network that transmits the larger amounts of data that will be used with UMTS/HSDPA. If they had video calling from the start then the network would perform too slowly & no one would be happy.

The reason Verizon doesn't do voice over EVDO is that they can't - DO stands for Data Only - UMTS-HSDPA offers both voice & data capability. I tested a card at a customers location & had speeds of about 825 KBS.

Dude - get over it. Anyhow the speed won't be the only benefit of the Cingular offer. You can do quick groups on the fly, you can change your availability so that calls don't interupt you in a meeting, you can have call waiting, one number for PTT & standard calls, you can go from a PTT conversation to a full duplex call without hanging up & re-dialing, its a flat rate, no nickel & diming for group calls, ...

Nextel Dude - don't get so tied to one company. You most likely will find yourself working at one of the companies that you view as an enemy & then realize how you were brainwashed.

Re: the question for the day is...how can Cingular improve cust serv?
May 25, 2005, 1:23 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Its ridiculous of you to be upset that Cingular or any carrier would sell a phone to someone that was in a weak coverage area. How many people only use their phones in one area? If you were only going to be at your office or home then use your landline. Also many of the maps that show coverage strengths weren't availabe when the company was AT&T, so the representatives weren't necessarily misinforming you on purpose. Cingular providers more ...

8O Let's face it, if you don't tip a waiter you are going to hell & you belong there. If you go to a sit down restaurant you are expected to tip a waiter/waitress. If you don't want to tip then eat at home or a drive through.

Also you will really need 3 handsets, 1 for Japan, 1 for S. Korea, & one for the rest of the world. S. Korea uses a version of CDMA.

Yes you can view JPEG's & GIF files. It requires 4.0 on the BES & 4.0 on the handheld. For the full MDS browser you need to have that turned on by the BES administrator, its not Cingular that controls it.

I worked for AWE, from the information we have been given about AWS relaunch is that it will be for AT&T Corp customers so they can have a bundled offering. It won't really be targeting consumers. So you shouldn't see new AT&T Wireless retail locations popping up.
