It's a fair question, and I would argue that Sprint is still at a disadvantage due to the IBEZ limitations on the use of its spectrum. They're also the only carrier with SMR spectrum, whereas 600MHz spectrum will end up as a roaming option for likely several carriers, and the SMR spectrum Sprint has is very limited (something like 12MHz).

With something like this, there are two perspectives. The first perspective is the more open-source purist one which sees a previously very open platform losing open versions of apps that would otherwise make it a complete platform for free. I completely understand that view, and I feel a sense of loss from it as well, but I also don't think it's a huge blow to AOSP since the AOSP apps for a long time haven't been that ...

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with those metro areas, but I can say that I live and work in the Seattle downtown area and T-Mobile here is absolutely fantastic. I went from rarely seeing 0-1 bars of LTE on Sprint with barely usable data to rarely *not* seeing great LTE reception and performance. Certainly, it's not for everyone. I found a small dead spot on I-5 south of Portland recently, but for the ...

My biggest concern for the future with a combined T-Mo and Sprint is that, even with Network Vision, Sprint's systems are absolutely awful. I just switched away from Sprint to T-Mo and it's night and day. Everything from SMS, which we've all known for ages is slow on Sprint, to the backend account and billing systems is just tremendously better at T-Mo. At this point with Sprint being such a damaged brand, I feel like the best thing ...

My monthly bill is more than that, but I'd be willing to pay two bits extra if it means improving our schools' connectivity. Honestly, the pushback on it is because "taxes", not because it's actually an amount of taxation that would make any bit of difference on our bills.

Or, better yet, let's worry about more important things, like the families and individuals who were impacted by the horrific events yesterday. Have you tried both out? I don't like iOS, so the new iPhone was out of the running for me. I decided on the GS3 and I've been loving it. The LTEVO just had too many issues for me.

iPhones are nice devices. I see the appeal. It's definitely not for me, though. The S3 is truly a magnificent phone, and I can only hope the next Nexus is at least as good, or better. Also, don't feed the trolls.

I had been looking at the S3, the EVO 4G LTE, the Galaxy Nexus, and the possibility of a new Nexus phone later this year. My EVO 3D was decent, but the camera was always a weak point and the whole phone was feeling a bit long in the tooth, so I was considering an upgrade. After a bunch of research and finally trying the phones in-store, I found myself hopelessly wanting the S3. Sure, I ...

Personally, I think patents in general have outlived their usefulness. They were once a tool for inventors to protect themselves while they try to bring a new product to market. Now, things are much faster, and patents are simply used to try to make a quick buck by beating everyone else to the patent application, rather than to the product.

I was a bit surprised myself when reading the review. The Signal section was mostly just complaining about Sprint's 3G service. We know it's slow, we don't need reminders. :) I came to the article to read about the phone. If the signal performs on par with other Sprint phones, that's relevant to me. I highly doubt it was the influence of other companies that resulted in this report. Consumers had already recognized that AT&T was blowing hot air out their rear with their talking points, so if the FCC had reported something different, it would have caused a bit of an uproar. Frankly, I think the points raised against the AT&T merger are completely valid and AT&T has not shown any shred of evidence to support their claims. More ...

I certainly wouldn't call it pointless. Keep in mind that when Internet prices were too high and speeds too low in the UK their government forced the few entrenched ISPs to open up their networks and allow competition, which has resulted in better speeds and better pricing, overall. In the US, well, companies pay off the government and consolidate the market until we are paying more than we should under the guise of a competitive market. Unless some ...

Actually, copyright law gives even open-source projects protection. You don't even have to file with the U.S. Copyright Office, though it's easier to litigate if you do, due to having the proof on file. Personally, I think patents are antiquated and obsolete, so this whole circus seems like a huge joke. Sadly, the joke's on us as consumers.

Actually, the real appeal here is for Android-based tablet/slate devices. The one thing that is sorely lacking in the current generation of tablets/slates is the (usable) ability to write with a stylus. You can do it, but it's not as mature as it should be. I recently investigated the viability of using an Android tablet for note taking in lieu of traditional notebooks, but sadly the only decent configuration would have required a Windows-based tablet of ...

My driving instructor so many years ago had an interesting philosophy about the use of the term "accident." He told us never to use "accident" in that context. He said it's a "crash", not an "accident", because car crashes are avoidable. It's a subtle difference, but I tend to agree with him on that. I also agree with banning cell phone use while driving, even though it would slightly inconvenience me. If it was an issue ...

I use Swype all the time on my EVO and it has served me very well. It picks up most words right away, though occasionally the top suggestion isn't correct if two words have a very similar pattern. The mistake is probably also my fault in that situation, since I'm not exactly dead-on with my motions. For any Android device, I think Swype is a must-have, or at least a must-try, since not everyone will like it. ...

GSM is also dying, though, since carriers are looking at 4G. I would actually like to see Sprint and T-Mo merge and deploy an LTE network. Sprint has the spectrum and head-start on a new network build-out with Clear, and the extra assets of T-Mo could help speed up the process.

Actually, the Revolutionary War was about enough citizens in the colonies getting tired of being taxed (or being angry that they were no longer able to bribe the port officials), thus they turned on the British Empire and fought until the French noticed and helped weaken their rival by supplying the colonists with arms and other assistance. The Civil War could be boiled down to the question of property and state rights. The southern states favored slavery (property rights) ...

Contracts *must* follow the letter of the law, and they are always subject to the judgment of the courts. Some states or districts will throw out entire contracts if even one piece is invalid. Contracts that use clauses known to be illegal do so as a scare tactic in the hopes that the signee will not question it. It's the same with any type of contract.

Download the USB driver that wirelesspioneer mentioned and then plug your A900 into your computer with the USB cable included with your phone. Your computer will then recognize the phone as a removable storage device and you will be able to copy your MP3s or whatever onto the phone. So open up My Computer and find the new "drive" which is actually your phone and you should be able to find the MEDIA folder there.

I've heard of the America Roaming Network before. I don't know who operates it but I've heard of issues with that before. I don't *think* it's limited to just Sprint. As far as Verizon's Amercia's Choice Map goes it's the same deal as Sprint with a different name. Cingular works the same. If you roam on GSM towers other than those of Cingular a bunch they'll cut you too.
