Re: Roaming Partner in Oregon
I know the coverage map. You're misunderstanding my question... I want to know the name of the company that owns those partner towers.
I am going to be stationed in rural Oregon, and I want to look into the carrier in that area.
Roaming Partner in Oregon
I might be moving from Michigan to Oregon later this year, and noticed that 80% of at&t's coverage in Oregon is partner coverage. I was just curious as to which partner at&t used out in that area. Thanks!
Re: antenna?
There is a secondary telescoping antenna that is used for the mobile TV.
Re: Got it today..
There might not be FLO service in your area. The FLO service runs on a 750ish MHz frequency thats only available in certain markets
As for there being a lack of Google Maps, that is an easy enough OTA download from Google (http://www.google.com/gmm)
I agree that the web browser on the Vu is severely lacking compared to the Safari browser from the iPhone; however, you can always install Opera Mini, which would relegate the built in browser to CV functionality ...
Re: Initial thoughts
I haven't tried to sync it with outlook yet. I'm sure there is a way to...It just not be as easy as some might hope :)
Re: Initial thoughts
Glad to be of service :)
Re: Initial thoughts
When I said external, I meant that there was no door on the exterior of the phone allowing easy access to the media card slot.
When it is tucked under the battery and sim card, its pretty much internal... :-P
Initial thoughts
We just recieved the Vu this morning and below you will find my initial reaction:
After opening the box and powering it up, the first thing I noticed was how light this phone is! This phone seriously weighs less than a couple ounces.
The screen is a decent size, I think the iPhone's screen might be a bit bigger, but still, a pretty nice showing from LG.
The screen is very responsive, although not as responsive as other at&t phones (Tilt ...
Re: SKU?
64776 :)
Where is the Soul going to land?
Please say at&t... or at least a GSM provider...
Re: What Is Unlocked ??
An unlocked phone is one that is not tied to a specific carriers network anymore. Carriers will put a subsidy lock on phones to guarantee that you will use their service with their phone (while you're in contract). Buying an unlocked phone is fairly commonplace here in the states, and even moreso in Europe and Asia.
The one word of caution I have for you is to make sure it has both US frequencies (850/1900). Most phones ...
Re: Question for AT&T reps or guru
Moe777: You'll be fine. The only people that have a problem with what you're doing is team Cupertino, and that is because they're not getting their cut of the data revenue. Att could probably care less. I can't speak on their behalf, but as an agent, I would say to not worry about it because the iphone data is the same package as the media max 200, less visual voicemail (which is a lame feature ...
Re: The Tilt (8925), Duo, & Q9h
I'm afraid of the tilt. I have the feeling that its going to break easily, and as such, I'll be DOAing a bunch of them.
wm6 treo 750 update info?
Does anyone know when the official release of wm6 for the treo 750 will be? I know carriers around the world are starting to offer them, but I'd prefer to go about doing things the legal way (lame, I know).
Any insight would be helpful.
Re: Pricing isn't bad...
Actually, you'd need to have att wireline service to get those rates on the DSL, otherwise you'd be looking at an additional 16+ bucks for a dry loop or a basic plan...
This plan through att mobility includes 450 rollover minutes, unlimited unity calling, 5k night and weekend (pretty damn close to unlimited for the average user) plus you get the 1.5mbps DSL without having to get the land line.... so this actually works out to be a better ...
Re: August 31
we got ours in today... its pretty slick looking, but its the same old GUI and OS... The phone does get really warm, almost to the uncomforatble point, after about 10 minutes of solid use. I guess the best way to avoid having to feel it is a leather case and a jawbone (to go along with the noise cancelation thats supposedly built into the phone)
It does seem to perform fairly well though. It passed our corridor ...
I've been out of the game for about 2 years...
Hey all, I'm getting back into cingy/att sales after taking a two year hiatus to finish my degree... what all have I missed? What are the big sellers now? Any "hidden" features on phones that will make customers need a certain phone? (ie: the flashing sides of the nokia 3220 were a big seller for construction workers...don't ask me why.... it just worked...) Is ATT still stuck in the razr rut?
Re: Amoi?
and a lot of crap that nobody will buy because it'll break within 6 months
Re: Welcome to 1999
you mean people actually own zunes? :-)...
some of you just don't get it...
not every user in America needs 2+ MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or 3G access... while the majority us technophiles on this site do care about those things, you have to put each phone into its designated demographic and see how they will work.
For example, this phone is designed for the customer who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a phone, but still wants more features than what a RAZR (for example) could give them. ...
Re: well....
but this one goes to 11...
You know what the next logical step is...
to put thumbprint readers on the phone so that they can be locked down when not in use... so that way your credit card information can't be accidentally used.
Re: Is this possible, please read?
The data protocols for GSM and TDMA are what allows for TDMA to act as a precursor to GSM
Also, the frequency does play a big part in it, but it deals more with what the building is actually made of (steel beam construction, vs concreet)
Re: Is this possible, please read?
well, TDMA, for the most part, is all but dead and burried (some rural carriers still use it), so you don't have to worry about that part of the equation at all... its either CDMA or GSM now. Both have their pros and cons, and while trying to decide which is better in a building, it all depends on what the building is made of, and how close you are to a tower.
The thing that is keeping VZW ...
Re: Is this possible, please read?
Yes, its very possible. durring the merger, all of the AT&T towers had their switches replaced in the metro detroit area (I'm from the area as well, and worked for cingy at the time). This was done so that there were no hard switches (dropped calls, where you look at your phone and see full service).
The effect was two-fold. It allowed for seamless service once the switch was replaced, but durring the time before it ...
is it safe to assume
that this would be an LBS? or would this be something that would go by your billing zip code, or what? did i miss something in the article?
Re: So like it said
Or, if you wanted to avoid this headache all togeather, you would just buy a phone outright from the manufacturer, like the old days.
Re: gunny's right.
so then if cingular, for example, doesn't want someone to unlock their phone, they could blacklist the phone so it couldn't be used on tmob?
not sure that would be legal, but hypothetically, of course
Re: technically
Ummm... Rogers and Fido are both Canadian companies, and are therefore not covered by DMCA...
sorry Canada.
Re: I HAVE ONE!!!
everything you could want (less blackberry software) in an iDEN phone, all in one small package
Re: fabulous phone?
no. this phone is strictly iDEN
Re: looks huge !!!!!
the i885 isn't huge at all
Re: I HAVE ONE!!!
The athletics department at my college was doing a trial of them for some reason. We have to give it back in december.
I HAVE ONE!!!
My roommate got this phone through a trial at our school. This phone is amazing!
Re: no high speed data
i personally don't want a razr at all... or a krzr, or pebl, or slvr, or rokr, or any of the other 4 letter words moto has put out... because they're all CRAP...oh look, its another 4 letter word! coincidince? i think not.
Re: no high speed data
no, because samsung has a phone that has a 3.2mp camera... so in comperison, 2mp is crap.
no high speed data
this phone is garbage without it.
*DISCLAIMER* I'm just saying what everyone else is going to say....
Re: This could actually drive those 4.7 million to another carrier...
If people want to use antiquated technology, let them go to a smaller regional carrier...
Re: This could actually drive those 4.7 million to another carrier...
It could. But you gotta remember, most of those 4.7 million people are on old plans that already got bumped up to at least $30/mo.
they're costing cingular money... why shouldn't cingy try to recoup on their loss?
Re: so will you need to get a new phone?
would they be making money off it if you didn't?
