in all fairness, i said that it was fine these customers don't get a discount. i was only responding to a common theme in many threads that excessive use of m2m and n&w is "abuse." and after reading through everyone elses comments, i'm still of the opinion that it is not abuse, because these are features offered by cingular for customers to use as much as they like for the amount they are contracted to pay.

just wondering why people keep saying that excessive use of mobile to mobile and nights and weeks is "abuse" or "taking advantage" of cingular? the point of having these features is so customers can USE them. no one wants overages or to have to wait days/weeks to use their phones again cuz they ran out of minutes. if cingular wants to take away your ability to upgrade at a discount, fine, but people shouldn't act like ...

just to be clear, when I said,
If I talk for an hour to two hours and don't charge overnight,the battery is down to a bar that next evening.
that was just a separate example of the weekends when i'm not as diligent about charging. i really only charge on the way to work, and at most only one bar out of three bars is gone.

Since you're getting the phone (good choice cuz it's great), just plan to charge it every night and save yourself the worry. Be sure to let the battery completely discharge/die when you buy it, and then charge it. That helped tremendously. Had I written the review after I'd done that, I'd probably would have given it a five.

Cingular is NOT very smart
I don't see how in the long run cingular is making themselves more money by indirectly asking customers to leave with this new upgrade policy. Once people start leaving and are angry, they'll tell all their friends not to go to to cingular. Word will get out to avoid cingular. That's how it works. Some people don't have food to eat, and you all complain about people not wanting to spend a lot of money on something that only lasts about two years before it starts to malfunction. I like gadgets and whatnot, but when it comes to paying a lot of money on stuff like cellphones, it's not a good investment.

If you are a new customer, just go to the cingular store and ask if you can get the phone for free. That's what I did, and they said okay $50 and just mail in the $50 rebate. Just thought I'd mention that since I, like many others, don't like spending a lot of money on a phone, especially when it's the only one in the store that doesn't look and or feel like a cheap piece ...

I definitely am! They did me so bad I had to file a report with the better business bureau! Unacceptable! Word to those that want to change this fall: within a year the other companies will follow the same pace that verizon is now setting, so there's no reason to jump on the bandwagon and switch to a bad carrier.
Is this phone worth buying??
So the reviews say it's great, but the forum discussions say that there are serious software issues. On top of that, I can't find it at the stores, only online. Is it worth buying or am I going to end up with the same problems as everyone else?

I'm switching phone companies because Verizon has unhelpful customer service and can't manage to fix their billing errors in a timely manner (3 months!) or keep good records. Does anyone know if Cingular is helpful or even cares if you run into billing errors or other problems? Do they fix them in a timely manner? I'm just looking for the real deal on the overall service.
