They Lack Strategy & Have Too Much Money
It is a mistake for a carrier to focus on making creative decisions for personalization content, and a _joke_ for a carrier to invest resources in becoming a media production company. Why?
- Carriers are data companies and need to focus on their core competency.
- Companies that fail to focus on their core competency become spread too thinly and make bad decisions on not only their core competency, but the areas in which they choose to expand outside of their ...

Business Customers?
Did those who currently own this phone purchase it through Sprint's 800 number as a business customer?
If not, how did you purchase the phone?
Thanks,

Re: I might stay with Sprint....
In terms of spec for spec advancement, the Motorola E815 is superior to the Samsung MM-A880.

Re: Impressive - Except For The Battery
Sony Ericsson's 710a advertises 7 hours talk time, but tests at about 5. This is superior to 3 hours.

Impressive - Except For The Battery
This phone's specs are impressive.
However, a 3 hour talk time seems to be a step in the wrong direction.
It would serve Nokia well to take leads from Seimens' and Sony Ercisson's battery technology.

Re: Samsung A800!!!!
It certainly is competition to the A800.
The Bluetooth functionality and battery life, and excellent Sony Ericsson usability and design style are all pros over the A800.
The optics of the A800's camera may be better than the K750, however.

Re: end of the month
Typically, it violates confidentiality agreements.
A Sprint rep at a Sprint store is really at the bottom rung of the company's hierarchy. The only news they get from corporate is what their manager passes along from the email messages that all Sprint store managers get.
Take any assertion from a Sprint store rep about a phone's release date with a grain of salt, unless the phone you're wanting has been oficially released by Sprint.

Re: What carrier?
Correct.
It will be for Cingular.

Surprised By Lack Of Camera
Considering the target demographic for this phone, I'm surprised it doesn't at least have the common Sony Ericsson 320x240 res camera.

Re: Got my phone today, I'm returning it tommorow
The Sanyo 5600 actually does support QCELP ringtones, as well as all current versions of CMX (MIDI and master audio), and AAC.
In order to get ringtones working on your phone, you must download them from an approves Sprint content provider. http://www.forfones.com is one of them. They have great content for this phone.

Re: Ringers?
Hello,
In order to acquire ringtones for your Sanyo 5600 on Sprint, you must download them from a supported ringtone platform. One such platform is http://www.forfones.com.
They have several titles in the new M4A format that your phone supports.

Re: THEY MAKE BLUE TOOTH EAR PIECES FOR NON BLUE TOOTH PHONES!!!!!
Hello,
The problem with these 'Bluetooth for non-Bluetooth' devices is that you actually have to answer the call on the phone itself, not just the heaset, which is what real Bluetooth phones offer.
Is this the situation with your adapter? Or can you actually answer and end the call without touching the phone and just using your Bluetooth headset?
Thank you,

Re: Sprint?
Amp'd is an MVNO founded by the guys at Boost Mobile. They've partnered with Verizon for their network implementation.
See www.ampd.com.

Re: christ!!!... here we go again!
The 'so what' is, I don't want to use a wired headset. Also, I would purchase this handset if it had Bluetooth.
Those are two very important things coming from a consumer, and an industry professional.

Great ... But!
Where's the BLUETOOTH?!
/e
Fortunately, There's Only A Few Of You ...
This kind of practice is too technologically involved for most people, fortunately.
The ringtone business is an important part of the growing mobile economy.
Let's not mess it up too badly.

Voice Or Real Music Ringtones?
Hello,
Does this device support voice or real music ringtones, or just polyphonic MIDI ringtones?
If it does support voice / real music, does anyone know what formats it supports out of the box (qcp, amr, pmd, etc.)?
Thanks!

Real Music Or Polyphonic Ringtone Support?
Greetings,
Does anyone know if this phone supports 'real music' ringtones, or just polyphonic MIDI ringtones?
And by ringtones, I mean files one can actually assign as a ringtone, not just a file one can play in a media player or other application.
Thank you,

Re: Would This Phone Work On Sprint?
The vast majority of Sprint phones are CDMA as well, such is why I asked the question.

Would This Phone Work On Sprint?
Technically, could this phone be tweaked to work on the Sprint network in the US?

Re: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
Unfortunately, this device does not work well. Not only is it cumbersome to have a big wart attached to the phone's headset jack (and the design of the headset itself is questionable), but the 'turbo button' feature does not work either. Pretty pointless, and expensive.
/e
Re: Again: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
I would prefer Bluetooth on all carriers. There is no justifiably good reason for CDMA carriers not to push this technology as well.

Again: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
This phone looks great except ...
The subject line above, once again, says it.

Re: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
... As a Bluetooth banner ad grazes the space above your post ... :)
Re: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
Yeah?
Any other preliminary specs?
Release date?

Re: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
Bluetooth has the ability to be customized to only allow certain features that still enable Sprint (who by the way, has the most amount of content downloads of any carrier or content provider by a very large margin) to retain their ability to sell content.
I personally thing it's laziness, and their interpretation of the market's uptake of Bluetooth, which isn't huge, but still worth supporting.
The only feature I want via Bluetooth is the ability to use wireless headsets.

Re: just switched to cingular, now they come out with this phone??!!!
No. The Sanyo is not better than what is available to use on the Cingular network. It has nothing to do with where one uses the phone.
GSM phones are better than CDMA phones in general.
/e
Re: just switched to cingular, now they come out with this phone??!!!
My point was, you can use virtually any GSM phone from anywhere in the world on Cingular's network.
/e
Re: just switched to cingular, now they come out with this phone??!!!
Look beyond what's available in America, and look at what will be offered in America.
/e
Re: Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
Snotty attitude? What? It's a useful technology quite simply.
Bluetooth exists on a plethora of devices that are non-Motorola.
CDMA carriers and phone manufacturers are either 1) lazy, 2) wanting to be overly careful about the way they allow data to be accessed, or 3) both.
/e
Where The F@#$ Is The Bluetooth?!
The subject says it all.
/e
Re: just switched to cingular, now they come out with this phone??!!!
This phone isn't that big of a deal. GSM phones in general are much better than CDMA phones. If a phone offering is your reason for switching carriers, stick with Cingular.

Looks Excellent - Where's The Bluetooth?
I would head out to The Good Guys here in Bellevue, Washington right now if this phone had one more imperative feature: Bluetooth. I have a hard time understanding the CDMA carriers' reluctance to push their phone manufacturers to produce bluetooth enabled phones.
I'm not looking for file transfer ability, synching up with my palm or laptop or car ... I simply want to use a wireless headset. I think wired headsets are some of the most cumbersome, unreliable, annoying ...
Re: This phone kinda looks weird.
... Basic aside from its lack of Bluetooth support. SE is known for its consistent release of Bluetooth-capable phones. It is disappointing when a phone does not support Bluetooth.

A790 Workable On Sprint Network?
Quick question ...
Would an 'unlocked' version of the SCH-A790 work on the Sprint CDMA network?
Once this phone is more widely available, how could one go about making this happen if it is possible?
Also, whether or not I have this on Sprint or Verizon's network, how does one use it on a GSM network? For instance, could I use this phone on AWS in the USA if I wanted to?
Regards,
/e
Re: Bluetooth & CDMA
Such an old phone though ... Does it really support Bluetooth?
Also, I have read conflicting accounts of the SE P900 supporting Sprint and not supporting Sprint. Can anyone clarify?
Thanks,

Re: CMX MIDI
Yes.
CMX will take your MIDI file and generate its own output based upon the version of CMX you with which you choose to work.
You do, however, need CMX Studio from Qualcomm which will cost you over $400.

Bluetooth & CDMA
Greetings.
Are there any CDMA phones that support Bluetooth currently on the market?
Are there any planned?
If not, what's the hold up?
Inquiring minds want to know.
