Do you mean the 8320? The 8310 is an AT&T curve and doesn't have wi-fi.

You'll be ok.. Just call Cingular and tell them that you want your SIM card to pick up the Orange network by default (1900 band).. if it's set to blue (850), reception will be really weak. They might be hesitant to do it because the 1900 network is now owned by T-mo and they don't want to pay the roaming fees (since you don't with the nationwide plan).

I'm not bashing anyone but to me, that's the norm. Especially in Europe. People would be more than willing to pay the extra $50-$100 to get an unbranded phone over a carrier branded phone. But I guess not in this case.

I'm surprised that cingular sells the v551 for more than Motorola itself. Usually, the unbranded direct from the manufacturer product should be more expensive than the BRANDED product.

The z500a will be launched before PTT is so our version will not have PTT. I've seen and used the v400p (ringers are TOO LOUD with the twin speakers). Didn't test the PTT part of it but did use the phone.

Everyphone being released going forward should be ENS. One of the reasons why new orders of the Samsung e317 are on hold. Had issues with the ENS version of it.

The t616 and t637 (regardless of branding) is experiencing some issues with the 64k SIM. I've noticed it on both (used a t637 Cingular branded and t616 AT&T branded). The 64k SIM won't make a big difference if the phone is non ENS and the t637 will be discontinued soon because of the ENS factor.

3 years ago, Cingular was ****ty but has improved greatly. The fact that you're using the Samsung e715 you have good reception (great RF on that phone). If you were to switch back over to Cingular, I recommend a new Cingular branded phone w/ a 64k SIM. Ensure that the phone is an "ENS" phone which enables it to pick up Cingular's (T-mo's) 1900mhz network along with AT&Ts 850mhz network flawlessly. You'll be ok. Believe me, I'm in southern ...

I don't see much difference since you can send the GPRS & MMS settings via OTA for web access.

Don't forget the s710a (another Cingular exclusive I hear)and I think it's confirmed about the v635 (not the v620). I was toying with some lame imitation of the a630 by LG. Didn't like it but it may be out by Feb. 05. It doesn't open sideways but it slides sideways. There's this black samsung flip phone that I saw yesterday but didn't get the model name (really nice looking). That one along with the Samsung p777 are confirmed for ...

But you can get the t637 unlocked and have it working on a cingular rate plan and SIM. I have an AT&T branded t616 working w/ my 64k SIM. You just need connections to have it done.

There's also the MPx220, a630 and in some markets, the 6230 (I heard it's not out on all markets yet).I have a total count of 21 phones in our market in the West (including the GC83). This doesn't include the v180, Nokia 7610. There's the v635 in the horizon along with this funky imitation of a Moto a630 from LG (minus the bluetooth, mp3 ringtones and camera).

Here's the other thing. If you choose a nationwide plan, you'll have coverage where you're at because the v551 has both 1900 and 850mhz networks. Wherever there's GSM coverage in the states, you're covered @ no roaming charges. Plus, ROLLOVER! :)

What type of phone are you using? If it's a dual band, you might be picking up AT&T's network OR you might have an 8k SIM which I heard that causes network issues due to the merger.

Some have been unlocked for a while. The v400/v600, t616/t637 (actually most if not all SE phones). Some are still subsidy locked and it's probably the non-world phones.

The k700 is a great phone (based on reviews). I have the s700 which is a higher tier phone but most still prefer the k700. Being a 1900mhz phone, I can tell you that in California, you'll be ok w/ Cingular. They still have that 1900 network available to them for 4 years (that phone will be garbage by then). Cingular WILL NOT carry it and any carrier that sees that posibility might be T-mobile. I think NY has ...

Well, it had a mic issued so I returned it to get it fixed. It's in Excellent - Mint condition as I keep my phones in top shape. I had another one but gave it to my brother for his 14th B-day. I'm thinking of selling my SE s700c at this moment.

Don't know. It's a prototype and the backside has no info on it whatsoever. Not even the IMEI.

I'm waiting on the Moto v635 (true replacement to the v600) and I'm toying with this funky looking LG phone that seems to imitate the Moto a630 (without the camera, bluetooth).. kinda wack.

Motorola is pretty good but they've always have and always will (the way it looks) have software issues. They struck gold with the v series phones but don't count out LG. They really sucked with the L1200 and c1300 but I have heard good things about the L1400. I gave one to my mom and sold one to her friend.

Last thing I knew, Cingular was pretty strict on credit requirements. They've loosened up a bit but don't know how much.

Just like Will said. You can wait for the v551 or the z500a (both flip video phones) or take a chance on an agent and look for an overseas GSM flip phone. Downside would be that you'll only be getting coverage from the 1900mhz network (European phones do not support 850 mhz unless they are quad-band).

Yes it is. Just got my s700c (Chinese) a few weeks back. It's a bright as hell LED.
