You are right about 3G. Any phone without broadband is an absolute non-starter. That's why I haven't jumped from Verizon yet.

I'm currently Verizon user and am frustrated enough with lack of choices to sacrifice coverage for better phone selection and functionality. I was actually very interested in Verizon BB 8830 until I found out that at least initially, they won't be making the built in GPS available for use with 3rd party application software. This might not be the case with Sprint. Only other downside is that there is no camera if that is important to ...

Blackberry is on an absolute role with new, modern phones that shame the 3 year old Treo design. I currently have a Treo 700w and have owned every generation of Treo prior to it. Unfortunately I will switch to something new since Palm hasn't even announced something that is even remotely competitive with Curve, 8830, Pearl or Blackjack. They continue to role out derivatives of the same old tired form factor. Does anyone know something I don't ...

Thanks very much. Do you know if there is way to sync a Microsoft Office document with 8703 other then sending it as an email?

Thanks very much. That's one of the advantages of WM5 in that when you connect your device, it just looks like another folder in the explorer. This is really handy when you write something up on a plane and you want to send it as soon as you land.

Thanks DoubleHelix. I take it from your response that I could not compose a word document on my PC, transfer it to a Blackberry and then send it as an attachment to a Blackberry email??

I'm considering switching to this device from my Treo 700w. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to transfer Microsoft Office documents to a Blackberry and then send them as attachments to an email? Thanks very much.

8703 vs Palm Treo 700w

I'm a long time Treo user that is totally fed up with the bugginess and slow response of the Treo 700w. I like functionality, but it is just way too frustrating. Can anyone comment on transition from Treo 700w to BB870

Thanks for your insights on one hand operation with 8525. As a long time Treo user, one handed operation is my biggest concern in switching to the 8525(or xv6800 on Verizon when it comes out). How well does your approach work for looking up contacts? This is when I most need the one hand operation and it is extremely easy on the Treo- You just type in first initial and last initial and you are there. I'd ...

I wasn't crazy about Jack, but I have to say Cingular did a good job of positioning themselves as a much more hip provider then Verizon. Now they are going back to the ATT brand, which at least to me stands for a large stodgy company who when they were ATT Wireless had terrible service problems because they over subscribed people on their national program.

Why is Cingular so obtuse about their 3G coverage

in the Article: Cingular 3G In Most Of 100 Largest Cities forum

It seems to me that if Cingular has made such good progress, why can't they have a single nationwide map showing 3G coverage. Their coverage maps only show coverage at the city level, forcing you to look at each city you care about. It smells of making it seem much better then it really is. I know for a fact that there is no coverage in S California or in St Louis. Last I heard, ...

Having used a Treo 700w, I can say that only 23 MByte of internal memory is a problem. Hopefully the phone has easy access to the reset button.

When the Kyocera 7135 was first introduced (after a lengthy delay) it was only available on the internet for some period. Availability in stores lagged by almost a month.

I talked to a Verizon loyalty management rep last night. I told her I was going to a different carrier if Verizon did not release the phone I wanted (Treo 600/610). She was very helpful and checked with technical support. Though she wouldn't committ to a date, she did inform me that the data support people were currently being trained on the Treo. No guarantees, but a good sign.

I feel your pain. Yeah Graffiti 2 blows. I downloaded something called Jot which seems better (at www.cic.com). I imagine there are a lot of disgusted 7135 owners whose one year contract runs out in the May/June timeframe. If they don't offer a better alternative (ie. Treo 600), I'm going to Sprint. I actually had the Treo 300 from Sprint and loved both the phone and the Vision network. I stayed with Verizon ...

I second that motion. I also have a 7135 with 2000/min per month and data useage and will do the exact same thing as you- go to Sprint with T600. The Kyocera 7135 is a pain. I finally got so frustrated with the "fatal exception faults" that I called service and asked if they had any firmware updates. There were in fact new releases and given my useage, they sent me a brand new phone ...

I'm with you- no Treo 600 by end of May, one less 200/month voice and data customer for Verizon. Hopefully someone from Verizon is reading all the emails about how poor their phone selection is in general, and how really bad it is in terms of PDA phones. I'm currently using their Kyocera 7135 Palm phone. Its too big, too buggy and has lousy battery life. Sprint's network isn't quite as good, but its good enough. ...
