i calledverizon and she told me that the SIM card rejection was a glitch for all those who do not pay for the global service and have the sim card active. The rep told me I had two options:
1--to pay for the gsm roaming and get the card activated
or

is there any way to get rid of the message "this has been sent from a verizon blackberry device" when you send an email? this is relly annoying, i dont want people to know i can read there email instantly.

YES it has. the first 2 days i had the phone it did it to me twice.! Whats up with this?but its weird because the other person can hear you fine....and you can send messages fine. Both times I had to send a text to wait a minute so i could reset the phone!
need a little help
i previously had the voyager. When i got the 8330 i took out the micro card and put it in the BB. For some reason though all my music/sound files are all mixed up when i try to play it on the BB. And...for some reason I cannot use the video function at all on my phone. Does this make any sense to anyone? Im afraid to format the card because i have had this ...

I do not want the vzw navigation...and I havent tried going to google.com and pulling up there maps.......but the 8330 curve has a featured icon with maps as well as a directions option on the home screen. This feature is great, it seems to work really well. Is this what everyone is talking about being disabled? if not than whats wrong with this instead of G Maps. Im just confused on what everyone is complaining ...

yes...do a search and you will find details in the archives.
Use mobile17.com =====it uses whatever music you have on your computer and letrs you cut it down where yo want. Its a free site just create a username. Its great, it really works.

What I suggest is sell the choclate on craigslist, than add that money with the 200 and buy it new at Verizon store. Than at least you get all the warranties.

I wrote the thread below in 2004, it still works and applies. Newest info though, is that a site called mobile17.com will allow you to upload a full song and will splice it wherever you want for any specified amount of time. It is totally free. Tell them what exact second you want to start the ringtone and what second to end it. Have it emailed to yourself or sent directly to the phone. ...

Ahh Haa. I couldnt figure it out for the life of me. Thank you very much. I turned off the auto text view only and there we have it. I was able to leave the pic one alone. I now get my text alerts. .....and this is why nomatter how stupid people are or the questions they as....WE HAVE PHONESCOOP.

seriously, get a screen protecter. Go to shieldzone.com and at least get one for the outside if you dont want to spend all the money on a full body. Ipods, palm pilots, gps devices....all need some screen protection.
Just the simple fact that your asking proves that you need one.
One very inexpensive way to go is buy the palm brand protectors that come in a general rectangle shape and just cut out your own ...

Verizon still has there systems locked, but I did figure out through a brilliant howardforums.com post how to play internet radio and my xm radio account through my voyager. All you need to do is download mycast.orb.com to your pc then login in through your mobile web. Change the settings from the mobile web and wallah it streams internet radio right through the phone. Do a search for it on howardforums on more detailed instructions.

problem with alert sounds
For some reason after I set a ringtone for my alerts, it does not always work. I have to turn the phone off and back on again. It works for a couple of texts or mms, than it stops sounding and the only way I know I have a message is by the reminder tone I have assigned. Is this happening to anyone else?

Battery life is EXCELLENT so far. I drained it to the end twice when I first go the phone and it lasted me 2 full days no problem. Now I charge every night, I know this isnt all that good for it but I need to have it full for my job every morning. Try it out first, but I do not think you will need an extended.

Use yahoo email and just attatch the jpg. Dont send a pic larger than 236 kb, it may get bounced back. Same goes for ringtones.

One way to allow the horizontal pic to rotate verically in order to be set for the external screen is to rotate and save pic from the pic edit menu.
From external screen; Just select a pic...hit view...option key ...edit...hit the little rotate button below the zoom...rotate 90 degrees...done...than SAVE pic.
Now it saves vertically in your pic folder...set as ext wallpaper and it should be good to go.

Yes you can send sounds to your phone and use as a ringtone. The trick is to disguise them as MIDI tones. Most of the mp3's will only save in the sound file, but the midi"s will actually save in both the ringtone and sound folder. Also Yahoo emails work the best in order to recieve the sound. seriously....any of these key board style pads are very hard to text one handed. The candy bar is also an option on this phone though because it has a condensed keyboard on the front and the keypad slides out. But to answer your question...it is hard, to test it out go to a vzw store and try typing on the LG9800, or the u740 with one hand.
