Not about competition... its all about calculative folk who activate service with 24 month agreements with the sole intention of disconnecting. The price that a new iPHONE yields in India or Pakistan far out weighs the $350 disco fee. The game is that connected individuals activate service with the sole intention of taking the disconnect... So "Educated Carriers" are taking a new position. The carriers that are always playing catch up can all suffer the consequences... Any dumb ass on ...

Voicemail reset for upgrades
Feb 14, 2012, 9:35 AM
in the AT&T forum

What kind of stupid s*$#t is this?... Upgrading customers will now have their voicemail reset with password request on when they upgrade!... If it really was for securities sake it would also be effecting new customers... Just one more way AT&T is ensuring an excellent customer experience therefore guaranteeing themselves the coveted JD Powers Award... NOT! HAHAHAHHHahhahahahaha hahaha hahaha hahhah! What dumb asses

Someone has to pay for the TMo deal... Lets face it 3.9 billion has to come from somewhere... It will certainly not be savings from cuts to the infinite layers of middle management stooges and pseudo self important quasi authoritarians that make up the majority of AT&T leadership group... No instead they will douche out the customer and screw their dealers... It is what it is.

I am almost sure that the VZW version of iPHONE4 addressed that antenna issue that was never fixed on the GSM version. Not forgetting the network integrity issues that AT&T is famous (infamous) for there is a difference between the devices... the hardware is different... It is what it is.

I think the folks at CARE call it a "work around"... god bless the folks that know their job well enough to not be sheep and calculate the 'work around" aspect of Customer Service. It is what it is.

Re: Hmm, doesn't a phone like this belong in Sprint/Nextel?

Technically, AT&T has one of the largest push to talk networks in the country... they are using Kodiak's RTX technology which works over their whole voice network... So Sprint/Nextel is really not the only, or obvious, choice for ruggadized PTT devices... If you use or have used Nextel's PTT and are not familiar with the differences between them and Kodiak check this out... http://www.kodiaknetworks.com/ Check out the demos... Cant barge in... can switch from simplex to full duplex... supports presence operations... ...

All good... I am only looking for corroboration from the techs at ATT... I have viewed the transitions, migrations, and definitions... the definitions do not "define" the fact that voice will be carried simultaneously with WCDMA

A question for Rich Brome
Jul 17, 2009, 8:10 PM
in the AT&T forum

I need a non-bias answer to one one question... will ATT be carrying voice over the "3G" UMTS WCDMA component of their network? I have had some ATT network folks tell me that voice is carried there. I had believed that "3G" was dedicated to data transmissions alone... If voice is to be carried on the 3G network the conventional voice gsm (tdma) technology is done with... is that correct? Please advise. Matthew

We are in an acquired market and looking forward to re-branding as ATT.... but we do not know how long that may take. I am in the renovation process at our new, 11th store, location and have to make decisions on paint... I am guessing there are specific colors for the wall and such. We have no guidance from our current carrier with regard to this type of stuff... most of the people who could help are becoming VZW ...

They are available... unlocked... from sources other than your carrier. My business partner carries one and it is a nice phone. Certain shortfalls... but that is a Motorola thing. I sell the RAZR V3i for $390 US. This is the DLX package with MPT and cable... It is what it is.

Re: MPX220 vs V635. Which would you get?
Feb 26, 2006, 7:31 AM
in the Motorola forum

I have used both... the Windows operating system for the MPX220 was tedious at best... Normal Motorola menu is easier to navigate and shortcut... the 635 was better for me. The new Motorola V3i has everything you are looking for and is of the RAZR platform... USB port for everything... not that same old Motorola charging port that always craps out. Czech out this link http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr _v3i-1352.php My only complaints in this area (Motorola Land) are: Not EDGE; 1.2 Mega-pixel is common... give us ...

Perhaps then Verizon should have swapped (18 mhz of prime 800meg property) spectrum with Nextel so that they could have in turn relinquished it to the FCC for public safety re-banding and then Verizon could have offered 3 Billion (wait a second, they're not leveraged too)in order to re-locate and re-band the public safety sector and then perhaps the G-block of PCS spectrum could have been theirs.... COME ON GUYS! Nextel parlayed 3 billion into a 35 billion sale ...

We might look at Telus as our business model... They operate a CDMA and iDEN network in Canada... Perhaps they can access a larger segment of the market with the two very different technologies and the customers that use them.

We Rep for Nextel in a Partners market... They do not bill a month in advance. It has always eluded me that the consumers at large pay a month in advance... isn't it really a pre-paid service then? And if so why the harsh credit scores? Nextel prefers we only change a plan at the end of the billing cycle... and frankly when explained to the customer at the point of established service they know it and are OK ...

Alltel has adopted Kodiak, this much I know... They operate a CDMA network stateside... Orange has too, GSM carrier from across the pond... Nextels argument is that Kodiak is still PTT over cellular and that they allocate separate band and radios for PTT... BFD! If the site goes down because a T1 span fails or microwave hop craps out or whatever methodology of back-haul they are using goes down the PTT goes with it... If the power fails and ...

Realizing that you are with Verizon I first have to qualify that the "coverage maps" found at Nextels web site are real coverage maps... although there may be area of no service found within these covered areas the maps are drawn as conservative coverage from the sites in the network... they are comprised of "rings", proposed coverage based upon site configuration, its elevation, and power output... they have a site they draw a conservative ring around it and build ...

apezz, If you have used a Verizon Tri-Mode phone in the past you might have noticed how often your tri-mode went analog... If, in your travels, the phone has gone analog 10, 20, 30, 40, 50% of the time then you need to evaluate that. If your phone RARELY went analog and all digital handset might make sense. Please remember that Verizon hasn't put up a new analog site in several years. Their digital network will eclipse the analog ...

I have always been an advocate of "simple setting" I think ALL phone manufacturers should provide a menu setting that minimizes menu functions. While they're at it they could also make the screen resolution large and well defined... since half of our customers don't dick with advanced features and have reading glasses. Smaller is not always better and high tech is not always helpful.

Cell Socket... www.cellsocket.com... That'l do ya'. Its a device that the phone sits in, cradle/charger, and this device provides dial tone... Plug your rj11 home phone into it and it allows you to use a conventional land line phone dialing through your cell phone. Perfect for our customers who are cutting the cord. oh yeah, it also has an outside antenna port in case you want to boost your signal.

Nextel has the ability for 2 lines active on one phone at the same time. They call it alternate line... An incoming call on line 1 or 2 is indicated on the screen that way "incoming call line 2".. Kinda cool. I think this is what the original thread was looking for.

We are a high proportion of complaints about the new phones where it pertains to reception... Existing customers "upgrading" their equipment are not happy. New customer who demo our phones with an i60 or i90 get their new i530 or i730 and the performance is not the same... Its a bit of a problem. One question, WHY?

My i90 Carbon Fiber would resume service earlier when re-entering the signal area... 1/4 mile earlier! I do have an interesting observation though... When Sprint was going from 2.5G to 3G the phones all (except Sanyo) began to indicate lower RSSI... as if the new technology necessitated closer proximity of the handsets to the site to support faster data rates and the new method of modulation. Is this all part of grand plan I wonder? Is the implementation of ...

This is my take on it all: ATTW and Cingular are co-located and competing in many areas around the country. The new company will need to divest itself of these overlaps and in turn make money doing it... lower their fixed cost and increase coverage form the sites where they are not co-located. Some carrier... will benefit from the spectrum and equipment that the new company has to liquidate... So the 1.9 gig GSM equipment would be prime real ...

Re: PTT
Jun 24, 2004, 4:06 PM

It was my understanding that interoperability could occur if the different carriers were using the same technology... So if the 2 companies used VOIP (like Verizon & Sprint) eventually they could cross PTT from one carrier to the other.. The product Kodiak Networks developed was specifically designed for interoperability... Alltel (one of Verizon roaming partners) is a CDMA carrier but went to Kodiak instead of the VOIP tech Verizon deployed... Probably didn't make Verizon happy but oh well, ...

Our local TDMA carrier is converting to GSM and we have hopes that they will deploy Kodiaks technology. I understand that it is supposed to inter-operable... GSM PTT to CDMA PTT... pretty cool. It is what it is.
