granted they are behind due to cash issues and playing catch up, I travelled 600+ miles from TN to FL and had connectivity on LTE with no drops (Except small portion of GA in the middle of nowhere) and could pull 20+MBPS and never had a voice drop period....to me thats good, i have no issues in TN where I live either

Do you all even know this guys past???? If he says it, it will happen. He is near God status in Japan for his wireless abilites and took an ailing last place provider, combined some companies and dominates Japans market. The same principle can work here, its all finance and economics for him. And yes he has a huge ego, just look at the house he bought in silicon valley :)

I hope it goes through......the new vision network can do GSM with a simple hotspot of a card in each basestation. The new chairman became number 1 in Japan by doing this very strategy

Son is a rockstar in Japan, he has a history of combining companies and becoming number 1. That is why he is trying this here. Sprints new basestations can handle new network technologies with a swap of a hardware card.

I see some El Paso 4G towers, they are in the midst of upgrades now. Sprint isnt having problems doing LTE...it just takes time and tuning. They are doing a 3-5 project in 18 months. Then have to do 800MHZ and spark. It takes a while to covert backhaul, zoing permits, building permits, contractors, weather. Verizon gets 2GB down in NY City...but you dont hear people complaining...talked with someone in tampa yesterday said they barely can get a AT&T ...

some has already....but I want to say thats in the back phase of NW. to Sprints benefit the Tmobile deal is now more of a softbank purchase and them squeezing the 2 companies together.....and softbank has a history of doing this very well in japan. Also spark has actually been in the works for a long time, not something new they just thought of.......I am assuming they put it out to test it more than anything, it may be ...

I am sure they are working on it, the project is slated to be completed on the 1.9GHZ LTE by late summer (all towers in network) this year then the 800MHZ upgrade starts....but those are not as involved as network vision now

LTE getting better where you are?

I just travelled from TN to FL last week. LTE was great everywhere. Slowest speed down I saw was 9.52mbps and fastest 23mbps. I average 16-20. I tested using G2 in the following locales. Asheville, NC Columbia SC Savannah GA Jacksonville FL now I had LTE for about 80% of the trip. Parts of SC and mountains in NC didnt have LTE. I had 1 dropped call in the appalachian mountains. I was 9 miles off the shore in Jacksonville pulling 9mbps LTE. ...

NW is about 50% done. bear in mind though when they say a city now is lit up on LTE, they launch before that city is 100% done. My city has it and we are at 60% completion. My area works like a charm on NW but we are smaller tri city area of about 180K people

it is not the sprint network, the above steps are good, if all else fails complete a "erase all content and settings" on the phone if that fails call sprint have them refresh teh data services and repeat the reset

Re: Multiple networks
Oct 7, 2013, 7:27 AM

what I was saying though as someone who has trained on Network Vision, LTE in a sprint base station is a PCI card, sprint can hotspot up to 5 technologies just like that in the new setup. LTE doesnt have it's own towers, they are piggy back equipment on sprints existing towers where as nextel had dedicated tower. Sprint is actually tearing down the nextel towers and simply re allocating the spectrum and frequency on the new sprint towers

Re: Multiple networks
Oct 3, 2013, 10:47 AM

you have your facts messed up. Sprints network is CDMA, it use to be CDMA and IDEN. Wimax and LTE are not networks, they are PCI cards in a computer and parts on a CDMA tower, you can hotswap the cards to change technology as part of their new network vision project. They have one network currently, CDMA. Think of LTE like a scope on the gun...you add it, the gun remains the same, just has an add on ...

Disclaimer: I work for Sprint in the department that handles Sero. Sero plans are only avalaible in very special situations....they are not actively offered plans. Your E+ plan is currently your cheapest option unless your employer offers a very large (20%+ discount for Sprint) in which that with a consumer plan might be cheaper

they lost 2 mil subs due to nextel final shutdown port outs and people who didnt act.......the network has constant high marks and awards and 2nd lowest drop call rates before network vision started.........3G is not so great but I get betweeen 8MB and 26MB in the 6 markets I have tested LTE in TN, VA, NC, and FL. there is no such thing as a native network, roaming partners are consider part of sprints coverage, that being said sprint covers effectively 250 million people. V's network is defitely bigger but not leaps and bounds. Sprints Plan 2 smartphones is $150.00 with the only limited item is landline calling min at 1500 Now 8GB for two phones should be plenty, my son on a moto xpert goes through 2GB alone. thats by no means a real high powered smart phone.

somewhat agree, sprint has Ericsson do most of the work. Once the Japan deal goes through may see big network changes, even their CEO says verizons LTE speeds are unacceptably slow........

of course with a project like Network vision going on, Sprint's CS rating will fall as outages occur and network hiccups and people dont get it in their market first. The same thing will happen to other carriers making changes like that.

how do people say sprint is a mess? They are either 1st or 2nd in every study on network and customer service incl JD power. If thats a mess I hate to see what people think about AT&T who was last one CS and 2nd to last on network (dropepd calls)
