The call center lay-offs are because tmobilee parent company does not want to invest in tmobile. I worked 4 at&t and they never guaranteed me a job after a merger.

I worked at at&t mobility for a long time. I quit in july of 07. I worked very hard in customer service. I had 4 years of perfect performance reviews. I was told I will never see see senior rep status due to needs of business. I got rewarded with more work but no pay.

I used to work for at&t mobility. I left in July 07. Verizon did not like apple's terms. Apple's deal with at&t is one of a kind. At&t does not own the iphone and they give a percentage of profit on service to Apple. At&t totally whored themselves out. Verizon was not willing to be a slut. :lol:

Customer service is a hard thankless job. A job that needs to be done that gets very little respect. Customer service reps are the most important people in a call center. Without good customer service reps everyone is unemployed. Reps don't forget your value and don't be bullied by the customers or management.

I quit Cingular customer care on 07/28/2007. After four years of BS. It was the best decision of my life. You cannot stay as a CSR1 for more than two years it is a waste of time.

EDGE is not sub-par. There are classes of EDGE that go slightly slower than broadband. EDGE is also easier to expand than 3g becuase they can just turn on EDGE. 3g requires a lot bigger of a project.

They did score some major spectrum. The truth is they still lack the financial commitment that at&t has shown. They lack the profitability that Verizon wireless has.

NO they just don't have the money to invest in 3g. Going 3g is about being able to provide business customers with mobile data solutions. It is not about match.com or about consumers it is about the corporations. They are only 10% of the wireless customers. But they bring in over 50% of the money. I've been with VZW for a number of years and have been very unhappy. My contract is finally about to end and I'm trying to decide between Cingular and T-Mobile. Sprint does not work in my building.

Phone launches-bad news
No high end phones until the iphone launches. Everything that is scheduled is mostly low end entry-level phones to fill in the holes in the bottom of the phone line-up. After the iphone all of us phone whores will get our cherry popped ha ha. It will be wonderful after I saw the proposed phone I needed a cigarette. I don't even smoke ha ha.

Nokia 6126 is coming by the end of April. The N75 nokia is on hold. The only other phones that are launching are entry-level handsets like the nokia 2610. I was told that around May there will be a new blackberry and some good stuff from Motorola. That could all be just fourplay. :lol:

Address each one of your points. GSM netowrk gives a lot of flexibility. Higher cost not more than sprint per month in fact most people on sprint pay more for their service. Slower speed Cingular is faster than sprint in UMTS/HSDPA areas and most major markets are UMTS/HSDPA. Cingular's coverage is a lot less patchy than Sprint really check the coverage maps. Crappy cusotmer service well the only company ranked lower in cusotmer care than Cingular by JD ...

Sprint is losing a lot of their business customers to Cingular. They are losing them due to network problems and service reliability issues. The IDEN network is becoming over loaded with all the boost mobile and Nextel users. Sprint is trying their best to maintain their footing in high end business contracts. Sprint/Nextel is in some serious trouble they need those big contracts they lost. Even the small-medium sized trucking companies and other vertical business are not choosing Nextel ...

Thats not my point as a consumer. That mistake is covered by Samsung's warranty on the phone. T-Mobile refused to process a warranty exchange because they did not want 2 send the phone 2 Samsung. That is what truly sucked. You are right I should have known better. I actually have worked 4 Cingular customer care since GSM was launched. I needed more minutes than what my employee plan offered.

Then u are better than most T-Mobile people I have dealt with. I did get a good deal on a nokia 6133 which meets my needs in a phone. I still will cancel my service because I can get a better deal elsewhere.
Look out
at&t/bellsouth merged to provide even deeper discounts and better bundle service offerings. This will lead 2 some new options open 2 consumers who have at&t services. With at&t controling about 1/3 of the nations landlines and about 60 million cell phones look 4 them to attack Verizon wireless with some new offers. The year 2007 will be an interesting year with Verizon wireless continuing to be the industry leader in churn and adding new customers. Then Cingular adding more ...
