Re: This is a problem and it illustrates what I consider to be the reason Android won't last...
I use my task manager all the time ... mostly to stop those pesky programs that start on their own ... like TeleNav (GRRRR) and crap like that. Otherwise you dont even need a task manager, theres an app manager built into android that lets you force close.

Its the information contained ON the thumbnail image that is potentially harmful. Just because its a thumbnail doesnt mean it cant be blown up enough to decipher the information contained within.
Re: If I could turn off HTC Sense on my Hero, this wouldn't be an issue.
Go to your online banking website ... see the account numbers, balance, service info ... ALL that would be on the thumbnail ... see the problem now?
Re: seriously?
Same thing happens with the Moto Cliq with MotoBlur ... just spent an hour goin thru my pics to remove all the dern snapshots.
Re: give me a break.
Well I gotta say, Id be upset too if I made something that someone else added onto and THEY went and patented the whole thing ... INCLUDING the peice I designed.
Need better editors
"Qualcomm has already been probed by the EU over similar claims, which led to a settlement with a number of companies, including Broadcom, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Nokia and Panasonic."
So Qualcomm has had to pay itself for violating antitrust laws? Huh?
Re: to serve what purpose?
There comes a time though that the little people get stepped on by the corporate giant ... no matter how you 'use your wallet'. Without government regulations, we would be down to just one carrier and forced to use that service or go without. You cant have it both ways ... either they intervene and set operating proceedures to TRY to keep things fair, or they dont and we all suffer.
There are times when governement intervention is ...
Re: to serve what purpose?
To a point, I agree.
It IS the responsibility of the consumer to make sure they are purchasing services that can fit into their budget. It IS the responsibility of the consumer to decide what needs to be sacrificed in order to fit into their budget ...
BUT ...
I believe the government is SUPPOSED to be there to protect the people ... from military attacks, violent citizens ... and greedy companies. Yes we have a choice, but ...

On the U.S. Cellular Facebook page, the company announced that it would sell the HTC Desire Android phone in July, after its "rigorous testing is complete."
Details: FROM PHONESCOOP (imagine that, they already wrote about it)
HTC Desire
Think of the Desire as the Nexus One, but with slightly better hardware and the addition of Sense UI. It carries forward many of the specs of the Nexus One, including the display and processor. It feels great to hold. All the metallica surfaces are nice to touch and are pleasing to the hand. It's lightweight and slim.
HTC has replaced the capacitive buttons and trackball with hardware buttons and an optical mouse. These hardware changes make the ...
Re: Alright, lets look at the numbers. (you know you can google this stuff before looking stupid rig
Not arguing or doubting ... but cite your sources please.
Re: Last ditch attempt
Verizons gonna be really confused when the little brother Sprint comes up and kicks their a$$ ... little brother aint so little anymore!
Re: Anyone care to guess how many new subs they'll have on this improved network???
AT&T has made the iphone vulnerable at one point and now the ipad ... why would you trust them EVEN IF you are an apple fanboy?!?
Re: Hmmmm........
I wonder if the Canada market came into play at all? I know RIM is a Canadian company, and in Canada, that means ALOT!!! Canada could wind up blocking certain products that violate canadian patent laws ... I know its not a big market, but no one wants to be blocked ... just a thought.
Re: Similar to the iPhone....how?
or based on rather
Re: Similar to the iPhone....how?
Probably because the article stated it was using the Apple WebKit ...
Re: no google search=no voice search
I have the cliq with 1.5 and I can download off the market ... I know im limited in WHAT apps work, but not where to get them!
Re: And whats next?
LMAO
Re: Help me understand the factime
iPhone4 ONLY allows the phone to phone video conferencing via WI-FI ... NOT the AT&T system so M2M has NOTHING to do with it! The signal is broadcast via the internet like skype, qik, etc and wont allow use of 3G connection for broadcasting ... I believe the limitation on the iphone is more to do with the inconsistancy of the AT&T network and NOT the iphone capibilities. But who knows.
Re: Why wouldn't they?
I guess not today ... i seem to have missed the sarcasm
Re: Why wouldn't they?
Is it THAT bad?
Re: Why wouldn't they?
Only if you want to be correct! Google designed and created the android operating system ... regardless of what AT&T has put on their phones. So by eliminating Google from the android is like eliminating Apple from the iphone. No problem in calling it JUST android, but YAHOO android is a HUGE error and a potential lawsuit!
Re: Why wouldn't they?
Ummm ... Yahoo Android? How much crack did you smoke this mornin?
Re: A company legally enforcing it's own policies = deplorible?
But as long as theyre suing someone, they are in the news ...
Re: A company legally enforcing it's own policies = deplorible?
Its actually the HTC camera that is open sourced, Qik is just the video conferencing software that Sprint & HTC decided to include in the phone. ANY video conferencing software that is intended to use a forward facing camera on the Android platform will work for this phone ... just as you described for the iphone.
And sorry if it sounded like I was scolding you lol ... didnt mean for it to come thru like that.
Re: A company legally enforcing it's own policies = deplorible?
If you would have read the post about Qik & the Evo you would know that the video conferencing feature thru HTC is open sourced as well
"...HTC soon after clarified that the camera was open to all developers, so Qik's software would not be the only option..."
Re: Read the language (hint: no.)
again ... for now
Re: Help me understand the factime
phone to phone connection not using at&ts data service ... how CAN they charge for it????
Re: How is this closed?
... for now! Because with iAd, ALL advertising companies are 'competitors' ... give it time, it IS apple afterall
Re: And whats next?
As stated, we are not arguing about rights ... cell phones, cars, driving ... all priviledges! You can continue to act like a self centered 16 year old who just got his keys taken away for drinkin and wants to complain about his 'rights' - or you can pull your head out of your ass, buy a freakin bluetooth and be safe ... for ALL on the road, not just yourself.
Re: HA!!!!
Ya, does this mean all the adds for iphones that I get on my android will stop too?
Re: Apple still allows other advertisers...
Thats about it right there!
Re: Good? Think again.
Gotta say he did get you there! You may want to re-read things before you act as an 'expert'.
Re: Good? Think again.
Hey, for those who will use it, great! For the rest of the world, useless feature! But then again, if you dont use it you dont pay for it ... so why does it matter to you? I really dont get you ppl!
