The fact of the matter is subsidized cell phones are expensive fore cellco to maintain, The FACT the point of the 2yr contract was to help the company recoup he cost of subsidized equipment.
You could always come in and set up lines of service without a 2yr agreement with your own equipment or a full retail priced phone.
The only thing new here is IMO is that companies are itemizing ...

You can pay it off by using the trade in value of your current.
In 18 months...if thats when you decide to upgrade...you will have paied in 450.00 towards the phone balance. So thats 150.00 left you would have to pay to upgrade.
You said you were willing to pay 200 but not 150.00? And your coming off a 2yr contract now. Plus you can still trade in your phone for cash value. Lets say worst case it only trades ...

It will fail if the app store isnt up to par at launch. I think thats whats hurting Windows 8 phones now but that could destroy BB. The platform may be great...but if no ones making apps for them or there not that good..then its good night Gracie!
Im excited.
I had some hands on time with this phone last week and was very impressed. The Windows 8 OS is very user friendly and the pin to home screen option is very convinent.
I only got to play for a few hours so I didnt get to test reception or make phone calls but everything else was smooth and responsive.
Im looking forward to seeing more from this phone,

I did mine via I Tunes so it charged during the upgrade, but yeah..anytime you have power close I'd recommend using it.

The reason that service providers charge extra for differnt types of data connections is due to the fact that based on what device your connecting you have the ability to use larger amounts of data on there network.
Mobile devices on there own general dont use the same amount of data as a PC will..or for that matter multiple PC's at potently the same time. Thats why they did charge extra...until the new tiered Share Everything plans launched. Now they ...

It looks to me like there transitioning 3g phones into the "basic" phone slot and 4G phones into the "more advanced" spot.
You can tell by the way there pricing Smartphones over "basic" phones and how on the new plans theres only a 10.00 difference between a basic or smartphone per month.

Im not happy about the upgrade fee either..but you also have to realize its 1. Nothing new..VZW used to have upgrade fees. They got up to 20.00 before they were axed a few years ago. And 2. That every other company does it already,
Not that the second point is a valid excuse but it is true. Activation fees and upgrade fees only apply when that transaction takes place so its not a fee that is tagged onto the monthly ...

Im not a network engenire so Im not sure what the possible negative impact of a rooted phone on Verizons network could be.
I suppose that if someone wanted to they might to try to upload harmfull info onto the network if they wanted to but who knows.
I would think that the carrier however does have the right to limit what kind/type of devices that are on there network...the same way a business owner has the right to refuse ...

Just like the I phone the Razr has an alternate reset method. If you power the phone off, hold the up and down volume keys in together then push the power button the phone will boot into boot mode.
You'll have a few screen option with reset being one of them. This is also an alternate way to do a master reset on the phone so be careful lol.

Well after having used apps like battery pull on my old Blackberry and experiencing the reset button combo on the I phone Im not worried about not having a physical battery to perform resets.
So far all of these things have been an adequate replacement to pulling the battery out.
Plus in the case where a battery pull dosent fix your issue its either time to do a factory reset or replace the device anyway.

From what I've seen Siri is only avalible on the 4s. It needs the A5 chip to operate from my understanding.
ios5 comes with nuance which is the standard voice feature on most phones.

I guess the argument can be said that the phone has 32 Gbs of memory but memory isnt that much of a concern to me since I still havent filled my old 8gb card.
I played with the phone at lenght today and was impressed. I still have the unlimited data plan for 29.99 and I'll be able to keep it on 4G. I just think its still a little pricey.

Price Point
The only thing Im worried about with this phone at the moment is the price. 299.99 seems a little steep to me but considering how many other Droid devices there are on the market. Especially when the phone feels like a Droid X2 with a few more bells and whistles.
The Zumocast feature does look cool but Im not sure if thats worth an extra 100.00 I wouldnt be supprised if VZW changes the price fairly quick after launch.

I can see where your concerns are but one thing your doing as well is making consumers sound like sheep. Forums like phonescoop help keep consumers informed on what there buying and VZW is coming out with clear disclosure on what there selling and what your buying.
Now if you go into a VZW store not knowing what your buying or getting into you as a consumer then you need to bear some of the burden for getting "taken" buy ...

I've already fielded one of those calls yesterday. VZW is letting people buy the phone at retail but there giving them a 200.00 rebate on it. Same with people outside of there 30 day WFG.

The ENV3 problem was the battery not seating correctly. Once they replaced the battery Ive seen a DRASTIC drop in ones that cycle like that.
This phone isnt that bad
Im excited about this phone because its the 1st one in a long time thats good that DOSENT require a data plan.
It also marks the end of 3g Media phones (yeah)
Ive also played with the phone and it looks feels and acts like a solid phone.
Hopefully it dosent have power issues like the ENV line of phones. :)

I played with one yesterday....um..Im not impressed. The UI lags when it tries to "spin" and the push slide to unlock the phone dosent do it for me.
I can see us having a lot of problems with the touch screen on this phone as well.

WTF lol...How did you conclude that VZW outsources just becasue you got an "india" speaking person on the phone. You do know that VZW hires people with different ethnic backgrounds here in the US. I worked in the call center for 3 years along side 3 Pakistani people and all of them were legal US residents.
To my knowledge VZW has not outsourced its CS and Ive been with the company for almost 10 years.

I would imagine it will show up in your message center at the top of the phone display. There doing 200K in phases over the next few days or so. I updated a few on the in store flash machines today and noticed an improvement on the camera and they updated to front lock/ unlock screen.
I didnt have enough free time today to check out any other differences but one thing I hope they address in this update ...

Another reason the Moto Droid is getting more press time is because its the EXCLUSIVE VZW phone. The Eris was the HERO and everyone has a WINMO device.
I like the Imagio personaly but its not that ground breaking for Verizon. I love the fact it supports mobile TV and its our first smart phone to do that but overall its feature set can be found on other devices.
