Re: Reception

Sitting right next to an iPhone user in a meeting last week in an iffy coverage area, my coworker had to ask me to borrow my Bold to place a call as his iPhone had zero bars and I had 2 bars. Yep. Go for the Bold!

Escalating Alarm Problem
Nov 14, 2008, 10:08 AM
in the BlackBerry Bold 9000 forum

For anyone else out there that uses the Escalating option (AT&T Tune) on the Alarm Clock, does yours go from barely audible to barely low? I like the escalating option to wake up to rather than the punch-in-the-face option of higher volumes, but the Bold escalating can barely be heard. Worked fine on my Pearl 8120. Just wanted to make sure that it wasn't just mine (most likely not).

The light does stay on for the video mode, and I guess you could use it as a flashlight by going into video mode in the dark, but I don't know of a way to turn it on otherwise.

Re: What do you think of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 AT&T Customers?
Mar 26, 2008, 6:49 PM
in the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 forum

It's great. I ordered it the day it came out and it is just about perfect. The only negative that I can see is that the vibrate seems weak on this model. I plan to do some investigating to see if it is just the one I have or the model itself. They did have to rearrange the guts of the Pearl to accommodate the external memory card slot access so that may have affected ...

Any DUST yet?
Dec 7, 2007, 3:56 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8310 forum

Looking for anyone experiencing dust in the screen area similar to the problems with dust on the 8300. It usually gets in on the right side just above the volume buttons and spreads across. Has this been fixed on the 8310??

Re: Dust Under the Screen
Aug 15, 2007, 4:06 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Please let us know if you get dust in this one too. I returned mine and went back to my Pearl because in 3 days I started getting dust under the screen. The gap between the rubbery outer and the upper harder plastic on the right hand side of the screen just above the volume buttons is where my dust was getting in. I blasted that crack with canned air and all the dust blew to ...

Re: sim card error
Jul 27, 2007, 2:08 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I got sim card errors often on my Pearl and discovered that the problem was that the metal 'latch' that holds the sim card against the contacts wasn't pushing it against the contacts hard enough. I was able to completely fix the problem by using a needle (or other pointed object) to push the tab that is in the middle of the metal sim card latch more towards the sim card thereby pushing the sim more snugly against ...

You can get it without the data plan. BB Data is $30 a month if you have a regular voice plan of $39.99 or more. And you cannot even use mobile data pay-per-use unless the data plan is activated on a Blackberry - the icons will not even be visible, and you'll have to deal with that omnipresent message that says "Data Connection Refused" unless someone knows of a way to hide it.

Re: Try This
Jul 23, 2007, 9:50 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Yeah, it's a nit pick, but I keep it in my pocket so the track ball may roll on its own moving around in my pocket reducing the ring to a static garble possibly resulting in missed calls. (it happens with the KB lock on too) And I guess I get a little OCD when I spend $$$ on something new that seems like it should work, uh, perfectly? If it was an $18 Go Phone I ...

Try This
Jul 23, 2007, 3:59 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Try this: Set the trackball sound to Click(Options>Screen/Keyboard>Audible Roll>Click, this is the default anyway), then when a call comes in and your ringtone is playing or ringing, roll the trackball. Does the ringtone turn to static and become garbled?? I have tried two Curves and it happens on both. If I mute the Audible Roll the problem is eliminated, but having that clicking sound can be helpful when navigating the browser. Wondering if anyone else ...

Re: Syncing with Outlook
Jul 21, 2007, 6:21 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Hmm, I didn't have this issue at all. But I only have just over 100 contacts so I'm wondering if possibly your Curve was still 'digesting' all 700 contacts when you were trying to get to a specific contact (if you tried it immediately after syncing). I have noticed a slight lag sometimes when it is organizing calendar information that I synched. I'm just thinking that if each of your 700 contacts had nearly every field ...

I'm new to Blackberry, but I have had no problems at all syncing with Outlook and I sync several times a day. It does a great job. I have everything from contacts, to tasks, to meetings, to grocery lists in there and it syncs seamlessly every time.

Did you already log-in to your BB account online verify the accounts and resend service books? Also pull the battery to do a complete reset. Sometimes one or more of my accounts will do strange things and this corrects it for me. Although I've never seen this.

Re: Only Rings Once?
Jul 9, 2007, 2:48 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

If I go to Profiles>Advanced>Normal>scroll down to 'Phone'> there is not an option for number of 'beeps' as there is in other options such as Messenger - Alert or MMS because the assumption is that the phone will continue to ring until it is answered or goes to VM. So if I have it set to Vibrate+Tone it should vibrate 3 times (or however many I have it set to) then have an audible ring until I pickup ...

Only Rings Once?
Jul 7, 2007, 11:54 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I just switched from the Pearl to the Curve and I have the same settings for my phone ringer - Vibrate + Tone. On the Pearl this seemed to work correctly-it would vibrate the number of times I had it set to then ring continuously until answered or VM. On my Curve it will vibrate then ring ONCE then go back to vibrating. Why?

Question about the size for someone who has it
Jun 7, 2007, 10:41 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I have the Pearl, and it is a good size for making a call with one hand and a good fit in the pocket. I would like a full keyboard, but the size of the 8800 was too much. I could not dial with one hand - my thumb is not long enough to hold the phone with the rest of my fingers and dial without dropping it. And it was just too wide to be comfortable ...

Re: Help: E-mail/text folder, can it be separated?
May 25, 2007, 8:44 PM
in the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 forum

I had the same issue, the shortcut to show only your texts is to go into any email folder or the 'all messages' folder and hit the ALT key then the A S key. Doing that will weed-out your text messages. I too wish that they had a separate folder, but this will do I guess.

Speakerphone Full Duplex?

Re: Battery issues?
Mar 1, 2007, 8:25 AM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

Yeah, I always run my batteries all the way down for the first 10 or so charges (maybe I'm over-doing it?) then I let it charge at least overnight each time. In other words, not removing it from the charger as soon as it says Charge Complete. After the initial conditioning I try to do that run-down/full-charge at least once a month. This has given me a lot of success with my batteries. My cell ...

in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

No I haven't ordered a spare but I did notice that message about compatibility. I imagine that they haven't gotten around to specifying this information for the battery. It's likely that most of the other compatible products are pretty standard across the board (bluetooth adapters, chargers, etc.) so they just copy those over to the newest razr in the bunch, but this battery is a bit different so they probably put that generic message there for lack ...

Go to hellomoto.com, then go to the Shop Moto Store link, then go to the V3xx for Cingular then click on Compatible Products. Scroll all the way down and you will see the standard battery for $39.99.

Re: Mobile Email question
Feb 26, 2007, 9:13 AM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

As Idersch mentioned, Bellsouth is included in the list of service providers available to set up with mobile email. I use Yahoo and I am also able to add it to the MEdia Net home page, BUT the big issue for me with that is the number of bytes used (of my little $9.99/month package) is too high when using MEdia Net to access my mail. When I use the Mobile email the bytes used are significantly ...

Re: Razr v3xx speaker prob
Feb 23, 2007, 2:01 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

No way to 'fix' this. They changed this so you could enjoy full duplex speakerphone as opposed to the annoying half duplex on previous Razrs. The V3xx uses the regular-call microphone to pick-up your voice during speakerphone calls too. I have to agree that leaving the phone open is a real pain.

Re: 3G Sim Question
Feb 23, 2007, 1:53 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

It's a good idea to go ahead and upgrade your SIM card especially if you have the 32K version. It depends really on the customer service rep you get. I regularly go in to replace my SIM because I switch it from phone to phone so much that it gets really scratched up and I don't want to risk it failing since it is the only form of phone I have. They have never charged me ...

Compared to the other RAZRs I have tried this battery life is the best of all. I have 'conditioned' my battery for a few weeks now and I get better and better life each time. It's a winner.

Re: A couple of quick questions.
Feb 16, 2007, 4:10 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

In addition to what ant said, the Phonebook allows for more entries per contact, the overall response speed of everything on this model is faster in my opinion than any previous Razrs, and having to keep the phone open on speakerphone is a disappointment, but the up side to that is the external speaker is now full duplex. The phone uses the same microphone that you speak into when you don't have it on speakerphone to pick up ...

Re: V3xx Opinions?
Feb 16, 2007, 9:33 AM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

Hotcoco's issue is most definitely an isolated experience and must have something to do with the area he/she is in or use of the phone. I have tried every Razr out there (on GSM) and this is by far the best. Even the battery life is much improved considering what a light and thin battery it is. My experience with Motorolas has been that they have the best sound quality out there. Motos mimick land ...

Can't be done. You can increase overall brightness by going through Main Menu>Settings>Initial Setup>Brightness but the difference is negligible. This is a common problem with Razrs, but it seems especially bad on this version.

activate the camera, close the flip. Does the external screen show only a vertical narrow 'view finder' with black bars on the sides? Kind of like when your watching a program in HD and it goes to a non-HD commercial.

Put the phone in Vibe then Ring mode. Send yourself a text message (try http://www.google.com/mobile/ ) does the external screen backlight come on? Mine only comes on occasionally. Tried 2 phones same problem.

in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

Interestingly, I can't find GSM network info anywhere. It's not on the box, even checking under Phone Status>Other>Technology on the phone itself only shows 'Dual mode UMTS'. Also doesn't give any option to switch network modes i.e. Auto, 850/1900, 900/1800 - gone. Naturally, Cingular's phone list for individual accounts shows it as Tri band and the business site says its Quad.

First, the personalized shortcut option is gone (the one where you could press Menu+1, Menu+2, etc.) probably because that legacy Moto top middle menu key is gone. Instead there is a Samsung-like Clear/Go Back key UNDER the 5-way nav key. I liked the menu key better. The only personalization buttons the user can set are the 4 directional arrows on the nav key and the outer smart key. Second, the speaker phone when flip is ...

Speakerphone Question

Cingular Model: Tri or Quad band GSM?

Anyone know for sure? Cingular's website is known to have incorrect info. I'm not referring to any high speed bands here.

Is the speakerphone true full duplex?
Jan 13, 2007, 7:48 PM
in the LG CU400 / CU405 forum

Does anyone know if the CU400 has a FULL duplex speakerphone? If you're not sure, this basically means that you and the person you are calling can be speaking at the same time and you can still hear eachother. Some phones (see also RAZR) lack full duplex capability such that you have to wait for the other person to stop talking (and for any background noise to subside) before you start talking otherwise they won't hear you.
