Re: Pantech PC Suite for the Impact?

I found the PC Suite for the Impact (Here: http://www.pantechusa.com/phones/impact/updat es) But I'm having trouble getting it to work with a USB cable. I have PC Suite set to USB and I've tried my phone on first "set at connection" and then "mass storage". But my computer just doesn't seem to be finding it. I've rebooted and reinstalled PC Suite. Any other ideas?

Thank you Phonemanj, So, looking at ATT's website, some of the smartphones are not marked as needing the data plan (LG eXpo, LG Xenon, or the Samsung Magnet to name a few). Is this an oversight on ATT part or do they not require the smartphone data plan?

You know. I dislike being made to pay for services I don't want or need, so I tend to do research and look for advice. I now have a much better idea of what my options are and what costs (in both dollars and usability) my final choice will entail. A lot of that information came off this forum, and I appreciate it. IMNSHO, it's sheeplie who pay the extra $30 that lets ATT get away with ...

The Prada 2 is advertised as a smartphone, but the original is not. Here's a link to it - http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/lg-ke850- prada-unlocked/4505-6454_7-32316442.html?tag= txt%3bpage So would the original phone trigger ATT's required smartphone data plan?

There are a handful. My son just got a Neon and I've looked at the Karma and Reveal. There may be a few more.

ah, but I am fine synching with a USB cable and I don't want/need my email sent to my phone or a HTML browser etc. Want I want is my PDA and phone combined into one device that makes calls and can send texts... And has a usable calendar/address book (not just a phone list), a notetaking section, and can read Docs and pdfs. And a QWERTY keyboard. And I wouldn't be hunting for it, except I can't replace my dead ...

oh crap. okay, is the LG Cookie considered a smartphone? http://www.cellphoneanswers.in fo/lg-cookie-review/ It can't edit documents and doesn't have WiFi, but seems to do just about everything else I want.

I'm guess I'm leaning that way. I'll look at the E72 then.

Oh, sorry. I also want to be able to use it to make phone calls. I don't believe the Ipod touch is a phone.

I need some suggestions

Okay, for a few reasons I'm stuck with AT&T, so please don't suggest another network as a solution. For the last upteen years I've carried both a cellphone and a Palm PDA. My PDA is nearly dead and I've discovered that replacing it is not an option. So I figured I'd combine the two, only to run into AT&T's $30 a month smartphone data charge. Now I've been told conflicting information on whether AT&T will charge me if I ...
