Thanks GSMGeek. I think you're right on with all your comments. I was really hoping it would be out on cingular and verizon simultaneously. I heard the chipset for GSM phones was smaller than CDMA so it would hit cingular first. I guess I would switch to VZW, but they are definitely the most expensive and they are a bit arrogant about their network being the best as well. Lately I can't tell the difference between ...

Why is no one talking about this phone???

in the Article: The Q - Motorola's Super Thin Smartphone forum

I've been on this site for a while and it seems anytime any phone (crap or not) is about to be released the boards are super active. But for some reason this phone gets no love. It is almost impossible to find any decent info anywhere on the web about this thing. And unfortunately for me  I want this phone more than any other phone I've waited for. F$%$$###!!!

I thought this was going to have a GSM chipset first which would mean it would be on Cingular first.

How about through a USB cable? I thought I read someone did this successfully.

Quick Question: Have you used this phone as a Laptop modem?
Jul 19, 2005, 10:28 PM

Curious if any of you have successfully used this phone to surf the web at high speed on a laptop through either a USB cable or the bluetooth connection. Let me know as this is the key factor in my purchase decision. Thx.

What is up with disabling the Laptop modem functionality???
Jul 2, 2005, 6:10 AM
in the Samsung SCH-i730 forum

8O According to Cnet's review it says you can't use this phone as a modem on either EV-DO or WiFi. Anyone proven otherwise? That is one of the main reasons I would buy this phone and its super fast EVDO network. Why the heck would they disable this feature??? To me that makes it much less useful. Doesn't the Audiovox 6600 allow modem usage?? Thanks, Dan

Agree with everything said above...but the short term solution is to move the phone around until you find the spot it works best for your ear. I know this sounds dumb and obvious, but a 1/32 inch of movement is about 4x the volume when I get it in the right spot. Good luck. And, yes, I hope they fix that piece of crap earpiece too.

Thanks h34d. I sent one to my "pix place" a few hours ago and it has yet to arrive. Anyone else notice when you send a video it shows up in the outgoing message (last screen before you hit send) as "slideshow"? What does that mean? Is there another way to send video? I have pulled my transflash card out and sent it that way, but I would like to be able to use ...

Video playback on PCs....
Aug 17, 2004, 2:41 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Hey guys, I am definitley warming up to this phone. I didn't like it all that much at first, but now that I am used to the text messaging changes and new button layout I am starting to like it a lot more. Vid questions: 1. What format are these vids stored in? I thought they were in MPEG4, but Windows Media can't play them, Real can't play them, only Quicktime. Am I doing something wrong? Can they ...

Anyone need a brand new Motorola HS 810 for really cheap?
Aug 17, 2004, 10:38 AM

I bought this HS810 before the phone even came out from the Motorola website. However, I am returning the phone so I don't need the headset anymore. Never even used it. Package has been opened but includes everything: HS 810 Headset - never used Carrying case Neck Lanyard Charger Manuals, etc. Original packaging, warranty, and receipts from Motorola Motorola site: http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/n commerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=253715&prmen br=126&accessories_cgrfnbr=22&zipcode=&phoneI D=&search_string=238596&type=All Cheapest I could find on the web: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/e3wireless/ mov6oemwiblh.html I will sell mine for $75 plus FREE shipping and no tax. Probably going to return my phone - kind of sucks....
Aug 11, 2004, 2:23 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I, like most of you, have been waiting for this phone to come out for about 4 or 5 months. The last month was pretty agonizing. So maybe I had just built up my expectations, but I don't think this phone is that great. 1. The camera pretty much sucks. So what if it is 1.2 megapixels, you wouldn't want to take real picture with it and basically can't take a pic indoors so what is the ...

VGA Camera same as 1.2 Megapixel???
Aug 11, 2004, 12:58 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Can someone answer this for me? I see the motorola V710 advertised as a 1.2 megapixel camera while almost everyone else calls their's a VGA camera. My experience is that a VGA camera will get you print quality 640 X 480 prints. So is the 1.2 megapixels better or about the same? Thanks, Dan

Confirmation of August 11th??
Aug 10, 2004, 10:28 AM

Does anyone have confirmation from VZW that the phone will actually be out in all the stores with adequate stock on August 11th? I have asked a few times in the past few days and no one can give me a straight answer in a VZW store. You would think they would be able to if the phone is coming out tomorrow. I can't wait to never visit this forum again. Enjoy the phones those of ...

Thank you npitlor. So you don't have any special plan or anything, just a basic voice minutes plan - gotcha. This is how I used to do it with my 720 and the USB cable, but it will be nice to not use the cable anymore. All you need to do this is the VZW Ezconnect software on your laptop and a bluetooth connection on your laptop right?

npitlor - When you say you connected via BT to "get my email and do some basic surfing" do you mean you connected to VZW's national access which is like 14.4 kbps and included under the basic calling plans? Or do you have a faster service? What kind of data rates have you been seeing? Dan

Bluetooth Headset HS810 vs. HS820
Aug 2, 2004, 12:42 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I think we all agree Bluetooth is one of the major motivations to get this phone. So being that the headset is a critical component here, which one is better? I bought the HS810 somewhat by accident b/c I didn't see the HS820 advertised at the time and couldn't see any meaningful differences. But since then I have seen different battery lifes posted, different ways to turn on/off, different accessories, etc. Anyone who has had both or at least ...

I was looking for the transflash other people have purchased at the best price. Moto's site will never have the best price - or even a good price - for anything they sell.

Pricing issue - Is it definitely cheaper at VZW store if you have Newevery2?
Aug 2, 2004, 10:52 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I have new every 2 b/c I have been using this crap heap of a phone - T720 for about 2 1/2 years now. With a one year contract I understand it is $319 minus $70 rebate which is the $249 RS price...but then if you have new every two do you also get a $100 credit off this price? So final price of $149? Can someone confirm this for me? I don't mind waiting ...

Is the 128 MB transflash out yet? Does the phone come with any transflash at all?
Aug 2, 2004, 10:34 AM

If anyone could answer those two questions that would be great. I went to Amazon's website and they have the 128 MB transflash for $33, but it is not released yet: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/ detail/-/B0002JC36I/qid=1091460488/sr=8-1/ref =sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl23/002-9764441-5142432?v=gl ance&s=electronics&n=507846 Also, does the phone come with any transflash at all? I think I am going to wait the other 9 days to get the phone from VZW. But want to order this now so I can transfer MP3s, etc. Thanks, Dan

The rep I spoke to said you can order it now over the phone or come in on Sat and pick it up (hopefully). Either way, it seems all the waiting is finally over and this phone will be here in our hands within 7 days. Amen. :D  :D

Re: Can You Do Voice and Data At Same Time?
Jul 27, 2004, 8:01 AM

I have a question on this as well. I used to use my T720 with the data usb cable to connect my laptop to the VZW Quick 2 connect or something which gave me about 14.4kbps. This absolutely sucked, but when I was in a pinch it was ok. I understand they have much higher bandwidth plans for like $79.99 as month, but that is way too much money for the occassional download of email or web browsing ...

I just hope it has good battery life and higher resolution pictures than the other phones I have used. Mulligan, I hope you are right. I too have been waiting for a high quality phone from Verizon/Motorola for a very long time. The delays recently (missing the Holiday season) were very disappointing to me. Hopefully they now have their **** together and we'll see the phone sometime in January. They are really far behind the 8 ball here by just now coming out with a decent camera phone. I just hope the wait is worth it. ...
