I agree as well. People forget that it was govt regulations by local governments that led to the situation we have now where local govts would award only one cable TV franchise in a geographic area. Droid 4 battery - is it removable?

I've been hearing different information about whether or not the Droid 4 battery is removable or not. From your video and pics it looks like there might be a battery cover on the back of the phone. So does this phone have a removable battery? Thanks in advance.

Droid Pro looks like the Palm Pixi
The Droid Pro looks similar to the Palm Pixi. I know a lot of people who want a physical keyboard but don't like sliders like the Motorola Droid/Droid 2 so this might be the phone for them.

Virgin Mobile has cheaper Blackberry plans. $35/month gets you 300 minutes with unlimited everything else on a Blackberry 8530 and $50/month gets you 1200 minutes with unlimited everything else. I think Virgin Mobile operates on the Sprint network.

T-Mobile launched the 8220 on Oct 13th so it's been 3 months already. I can't imagine them having more than a 6 month exclusive. If they have a 6 month exclusive then no other carrier will get it until April. I really hope their exclusive wasn't that long.

Verizon had the Blackberry Pearl 8130 on sale for $20 with a 2 year contract "while supplies last" so that gave me the impression that they might be clearing them out. Is the CDMA Blackberry Pearl Flip (i.e. Kickstart) coming out soon? Any stuff about it at CES? Thanks.

Will Nextel end up with 1900 MHz spectrum?
If Sprint sells off Nextel, will Nextel end up with the 1900 MHz spectrum that the FCC agreed to give Nextel in exchange for vacating some of it's 850 MHz spectrum? If so, does that mean Nextel will keep using iDen and move to the 1900 MHz spectrum?

It's about time...
It only took them almost a year and a half to announce a product. And the end of the year means that we'll probably see it in 2008 a full 2 years after they announced that they'll be working together. That seems like an eternity in mobile phone development. And considering that Samsung and LG have had camera phones with over 5 megapixels for a while now, Motorola needs to catch up.

The V9 and V9m versions have microSD memory card slots, the V8 does not.

When you look at the detailed specs of each specific RAZR2 model, you'll see that most of the nice features only exist on the V9 GSM version, not the the V9m CDMA version.

That's actually not true. Pure iDEN phones from Motorola such as the i880 have T9. I also believe the Sprint version of the K1m has T9.
I agree that these phones will probably have iTAP but I wanted to confirm because of the new JUIX based firmware.

According to some reliable members of HowardForums, the Z6m will be going to all or most of the other CDMA carriers like Sprint, Alltel, etc except Verizon. Verizon will be getting a version of it with VCAST TV and the model will be Z6tv.
Rich, are you sure the Motorola maxx Ve has an FM radio?

I wonder if we can read into the fact that the confidentiality of the FCC documents first expired on 10/21 and then Motorola only requested another 45 days of confidentiality. Basically the new confidentiality expires at the beginning of December. Does that mean that we'll see this device sooner rather than later?

It's good that someone snagged the pics because Motorola asked for another 45 day extension on the confidentiality and the FCC took them down. They also took down the user manual. Here's the confidentiality request that was submitted on Oct 23rd, 2 days after the external photos document was released.

Confused about WCMDA / HSDPA capabilities in N75
The article states that the N75 supports WCDMA but "lacks HSDPA". I thought they were the same but after looking at the PhoneScoop glossary, it appears that HSDPA is an upgraded version WCDMA. I thought that Cingular only supports HSDPA. Does that mean that they also support WCDMA kind of like how EDGE phones also support GPRS? Can a WCDMA capable phone like the N75 take advantage of the HSDPA capabilities on the Cingular network ...

Too bad this phone is for Sprint. If it was available for Verizon, I'd be all over it. 2 megapixel camera, QVGA screen, microSD slot and Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR with A2DP.
This is what I meant when I said that it seems like only Samsung can produce clamshell CDMA phones with QVGA screens.

Hopefully Sprint asked for T9 in their firmware instead of iTAP. I happen to like the extra functionality of iTAP over T9 so I hope the future Motorola phones for Verizon will have iTAP.

It's definitely coming to Sprint. There's a completely separate entry on the Bluetooth Qualification Program Website for the Sprint version of the L7c. Here's a link. If you look, you'll see Sprint in parentheses right next to the product id L7c.

I agree. This phone should have had the following features.
1) QVGA screen (like the Asian CDMA version)
2) 2 megapixel camera (like the GSM K1)
3) The A2DP Bluetooth stereo profile (like the GSM K1).
I really wish they made a CDMA version of the Motorola V3maxx.
