Let me give my stance on all this: ive been on the fence about getting the new iphone4 and waiting for a good android for at&t(which i thought wouldnt come). Ive always wanted an android phone cuz iphones just really arent my style ...

if data was food you would be one fat son of b*tch! I think the new plans are teaching people to be responsible and making them aware of other sources such as wifi. And on that note if your primary source of internet is coming from a OTA cell phone carrier then you obviously never did your research either...3G tech and even HSPA+ is not suppose to replace your primary source for internet connection.

I used to work in a dealer store for att and trust me man theres ALOT of ppl who are still using their Treo's and told me they were gonna wait it out til att got a new palm cuz they thought the centros sucked
but thats not nokia's fault
That most of the american carriers don't like to carry nokia phones. i think most of it is bc nokia wont let them sell a phone if they are just going to try and lock down the OS...but i like this and have one thing to say...

Well see thats what they do already but ive been reading that for some reason they havent been able to get the phone to do them simultaneously...who knows maybe its just a software bug and itll be fixed soon...i'd say give it some time and they'll figure out a way to do both on just wimaxx...the tech itself is still very young

Ya i can believe that. When i was in sales i was seeing more bizzes doing the same thing cuz not only were the other devices cheaper but they can now pretty much match the bb email capability. But i agree and am actually proud that sprint got the phone pushed out so early...i honestly wasnt expecting any 4th gen phone out til next yr....so it'll be interesting to see how it does. Now if they really wanted to ...

this is true and i can back this up. When i worked in sales i saw many companies going away from bb's bc most smartphones and OSes can match their email capability...so if you ask me Rim doesnt have many cards left to play

well your close but i was refering to the last time they put something out as innovative that made them the ish but they havent been able to keep up with apple, android, and possible s60...all of which are great smartphone OS's

And what proof of this do you have? Just because you were getting the free razrs back then doesnt mean blackberries werent around. You should seriously get your facts right before making stupid posts that arent true. Just take 2 secs to google it next time. The first blackberry's came out in 1999 of course you didnt know that though. Didn't you ever hear the news story during 9/11 that blackberries where the only phones working after all comms ...

And besides bloatware can always be removed at your leisure, just because its not conveniently the way you want it or like another carrier doesnt mean its a bad phone. The carriers have been doing this for years(i stress the word years). More specifically att has always been doing this to great OS's. I was really surprised my E71x wasnt as locked down ...

First off whats this IT&T company you speak of /;| :P
But second didnt att make a statement earlier this year about spending more than last year( which is in the Billions)on upgrading the 3G network and getting it ready for LTE. Just bc you havent seen them putting towers in your particular area doesnt mean they went to sleep for the rest of the country

Yes the plans are all exactly the same price for one reason: COMPETITION. the only exception is that att has rollover

oh no way man ill be going from S60(E71x) to Android too! Well ive played with a few and loved the google sky app the best! What all does the voice to text feature do? does it just read them to you like on S60's or can you speak to text instead of having to type?

I can pretty much guarentee that Verizon wont get it until they roll out LTE. Apple wont make a cdma iphone when verizon is suppose to be rolling out LTE this year...

Re: AT&T is billing pay per use data unfair.
For someone who is a consultant you sure are misinformed...the $2 pay per use rate is per 1MB. if you dont use the full 1mb then you are charged the standard 1cent per kb. And like stated by someone else: its not unfair if your agreeing to use the service. If you dont like $2 per 1mb then thats exactly why the have data plans

I think its only nokia that does that(which is why i love my E71x though its branded so i dont have to dectect settings) cuz ive handled some other unbranded-unlocked phones for a few customers and they were screwed on mms, and internet browsing...

Ya im how much of the phone would work on ATT as well..id sure love to get an android phone already. But i can tell you the reason why you cant use mms or sms on unlocked phones with ATT. The reason is really simple cuz ive dealt with a few. but when they come branded with ATT they have the gateway numbers programmed in so you can mms/sms...on unlocked phones they dont have a specific gateway number programmed ...

From what i read on the apple website the new 3G ipads would NOT be locked to ATT, granted yes their quadband GSM and Triband 3G but it states they'll be sold unlocked also. AND on top of that the data charge to use it would be sold by apple as well...As for the beefing up i think its a great smart idea.

For most of ATT 2mbps is still nothing but a dream.
Verizon is at least 1yr ahead of ATT w/4G, and Sprint/Clearwire is at least 2yrs ahead of ATT w/4G.
ATT's CEO & CTO are full of procrastination, and lack vision.
That this is the same clear that put out this new 4G technology to "leap" ahead of the competition and keep themselves from going out of business BUT forgot to make sure they had some handsets to be able ...

I totally agree here! As a store rep i have no sympathy or feel obligated to help customers who tried to go the cheap way and got their account feature flipped because "the shack" or walmart had a $400+ retail phone for free :lol: i just tell them to take it up with where ...
