This is funny  considering the fact that I have an EVO get better 3G coverage then AT&T and have access to WIMAX in a market that T-mobile does not even have 3G and avg less then 100K speed. Not to mention when I tether my EVO to my AT&T company lap top my speeds are at least 50% faster. It's not safe to make assumptions on a little bad press especially when you have no clue what your ...

I can't believe it, I turned on my 4G on my EVO out of curiosity and guess what I have 4G lol. Sprints WIMAX at my house is over four hundred times faster then my T-mo GPRS. :-)... I'm glad that i decided to give Sprint a try.

Roaming here but they inked a deal with a local carrier Pioneer for spectrum sharing with Verizon LTE. So Verizon is about to gain coverage in the NW two thirds of Oklahoma. Not sure how this will affect Sprint as they are currently sharing spectrum (CDMA) with Pioneer also.

Goes to show how desperate some carriers are to keep themselves looking good. Sounds like one really large political arena  . The point I was trying to get across in the post was that no carriers should claim they are the fastest just because they are in a few city's.

True that is another way to look at it considering EDGE isn't a broadband technology :P .

Being an average tech savvy customer and a user of T-mobile, Sprint and AT&T. I've gained some startling facts on the three carriers. I'm going to approach this with a unbiased point of view. Here in North West Oklahoma AT&T has a faster 3G network in the areas they have 3G but you go north of town 20Mi and Sprints proves to be the faster carrier. It seems AT&Ts EDGE network can't compete with Sprints 3G :o and the ...

Yes but they spend money making their network faster and expanding their 2.5G foot print they can afford to add a some additional markets. I looked on the FCC page they have enough AWS spectrum to cover the entire nation in 3G. They need to post something on their long term goals on complete 3G over haul like Verizon does with 4G. If their deep pocket parent company would see that they would be a force to reckon with.

Maybe if they spent more time investing in 3G coverage

in the Article: T-Mobile USA Considering Asset Sale forum

T-Mobile would blow the competition out of the water if they would just start expanding their 3G coverage faster. I don't see the roll outs anymore. They seem to be ignoring the smaller markets that is why I have ported my line over to Sprint. It's a tough move considering I've been a customer with T-Mobile for nearly seven years. The reality is that Sprint has much better 3G coverage.

Re: Well said!

I think T-mobiles biggest draw back is the lack of investment in rural markets and some of their urban markets. I've yet to see T-mobile roll out EDGE in my neck of the woods and I live in a town of 50,000. You can't keep selling smart phones to people who only get 45K speed on a good day. People now have the opportunity to see how fast their internet is. If they had a 3G foot print like ...

In this customers case they probably caused more damage then good even if it was by following the rules. I'm not saying a customer should get everything they want the point I'm trying to get at is that they could try to work with him like giving him a phone of equal value instead of making him go through the same process again. I remember a bad experience I had with a Sprint rep in a store six years ...

It would be reasonable if they bound you by a contract for those things. And as for surge protection most power companies offer outside protection from lightning but power company's are not in competition with other power companies. They are usually governed by a commission unless you live in a deregulated market. Telecoms are in stiff competition with each other. Its critical that they do everything with in reason to retain a customers or the out come could cost ...

Everyone seems to miss the point in this form. Customers are still the most important part of any business. So he was a ten year customer which means Sprint made a lot of money off him. Plans are designed to be profitable to the carrier especially if they are smart phone plans. If they weren't how would anyone make any money. So enough with the biased point of views in here. This sure makes Sprint look good right now. I go over 11G a month and never get throttled down or charged more. Now I also have T-mo and it clearly shows they may throttle your speed down with excessive usage. As with most carriers just with different wording. Here where I live 50K would be above the avg speed I get and it is still possible to browse the internet but maybe not stream music. Maybe I should ...

Who cares where you get transfered as long as they are polite and resolve your problems. Been with T-mo for six years and called in more times then I can count. Yeah but I think the reps could have handled things a little differently that he talked to. You can be right and wrong at the same time when it comes to customer service. While I agree with most of the responses I will say that attitude does affect customer decisions this is the image you give Sprint when you dis on a customer because they thought they were being treated unfair. Its okay to be straight to the point but say it in a nice way. Example I told T-mobile that I was planning on leaving since I have Sprint and they have much better 3G coverage. I agree when I was in OKC last week I was getting over 5Meg on the downstream on T-mo with latency rates below 100ms. It's a shame that T-mo spends more money being faster then they do expanding their 3G foot print.

Then maybe I could have believed it cause sprint wasn't all that great back then but since coming back to them recently I've seen a lot of change since then. I live in Northern Oklahoma. Around here Verizon has spotty coverage of their own. They don't even sale service in the 50,000 pop market I live in. Sprint the other hand has 3G coverage in nearly every market in this state. When I do roam I get EVDO-Rev a speeds most of the time.

I kinda have a two sided opinion on this issue. First I believe it's always good practice to keep track of your usage. I monitor mine almost every day along with my bank account. I've been reading about the other three wireless providers plans on speeding up their network. AT&T and T-mobile HSPA+ and Verizon's LTE. Just the one question that remains who is going to have the largest bucket and are they going to fill it to them rim. ...

They are not a bad carrier I have used them for six years and still counting. They have decent coverage and excellent customer service. I rarely dropped call unless i was a rural area. They are just a little behind on 3G. If they had 3G in my area I probably wouldn't be using Sprint because the key reason I have them is because of better 3G coverage.

And what is worst about it is that even in rural areas where they are building out new coverage they are still using GPRS. We are talking towns of 20,000 in some cases. This is disappointing because I love T-Mobile for their excellent customer service and plans.

Being an educated customer and not an employee the only thing I'll say bad about sprints customer service is that they are not as friendly and helpful as T-mobiles. Still much improvement since I last had Sprint six years ago. But this is based on three times of talking to customer service and on topics that are highly technical. Even with some of the most under educated and insensible customers you would expect at-least a little common sense. Even in ...

Good point but still Wimax is only in its first phase with theoretical speeds of 300Mbs versus HSPA+ 21Mbs. Though HSPA+ is an upgrade it wont take long for it to be outdated since it's merely the last phase for HSPA+. I know Sprint has made some big mistakes for which was the reason why I left them six years ago but since coming back to them I see an improved company in terms of service all around. Roaming ...

With out reading all the reply's I will say that this post has very little factual merit. First At&t is not rolling out HSPA+ they are skipping it for LTE which want be out for some time. Second WIMAX has a lot of potential it's only in it's first phase rumor has it that it is capable of supporting speeds of 300M down link, but I'm sure that is only theoretical. I think Sprint is making the right move ...

Well I have T-Mobile and Sprint and I'm deffinately not poor. I choose Sprint because they have better 3G coverage then At&t so may I say maybe some people choose Sprint because they are more educated on their wireless decisions. No carrier is with out their pros and cons. That's why I did research before going with Sprint and since they suit my needs better then any other carrier in my area it was the practical choice so enough ...

How odd I just returned to sprint I left them in 04 for T-mobile. Still have T-mobile but just got the sprint hero also. Must say its a lot like my G1 but much sleeker. I like Sprints larger 3G foot print since T-mobile still hasn't even got 3G in my area yet.
