Actually it's part of Apple iTunes Terms and Conditions. It is not cool at all that you can not decide if you want to allow them to collect that info or not.
You can decide by not using their products!
Re: Premier customer update cancels out upgrade
You don't have to stay on the 89.99 plan for your whole contract. 3 consecutive months of it qualifies you for gold. After your upgrade, you can drop the plan back down. So it's basically buying your annual upgrade for a $60 charge.
Re: It was good while it lasted...I'm done.
No, AT&T and T-Mobile won't. With the caveats:
Tmo does occasionally give a special early upgrade but usually its for dumbphone customers who want to go to a smartphone.
AT&T really only does early iPhone upgrades.

At the point when you purchased the phone, you signed the agreement. Thus you are responsible for living up to the t+c. That's the catch!
Re: Anyone who doesn't think Sprint is next...
Carriers DO provide tools to measure data useage. It's availabl;e on all their websites. Customers conveniently ignore that fact, and then when they get a coronary inducing bill, they rampage up to the store or call into customer service and swear up and down that they had no idea.
Now, I think having choices in data plans is great. But I think any plan less than unlimited should require the customer to sign a form explicitly stating that they are ...
Re: Radio Shack ain't too shabby...
Sorry Flip, only one $50 one per person. But you will get whatever the normal value is for the additional ones.

No you didn't sound harsh at all. You told it like it is. I absolutely agree 110%. Sprint better start getting "plan B" in the works.
Sprint has already addressed the "plan B" by stating that WiMax towers are easily convertible to LTE, (Pretty much a software change IIRC) so they would just need to deal with the handset difference.
Re: Sounds good.
Virgin mobile has better plans than this:
$25 for 300 mins and unlimited text and web
$40 for 1500 mins and unlimited text and web
And nationwide coverage on Sprint's network, a much better buy.

If its not uber important dont take the call. It's your life in your hands.
While I don't agree with the ban of phones in cars, I will point out that it's not just the person using the phone while driving at risk, it's all the other people on the road around them.
Re: Passengers, Music, and GPS
Dont forget the first time a state/city gets sued because someone couldn't call 1-800-grab-dui and that person caused an accident.
Re: I understand his position, BUT...
The "reward" in dealing drugs is significant enough to merit the risk for those people. The payoff of making more money than most regular jobs (assuming you could even find one these days) is a lot more appealing than the payoff you get from having a chat with your friend on the way home from work.
Re: wow its not hard
The other thing is the opportunity cost pf fronting the 400 for the phone + the 80 for the first month's bill vs saving $80 over the course of 2 years.
Personally I'd prefer to keep the 480- in my pocket today as 80 bucks over 2 years (11 cents a day) is pretty much unnoticeable savings.

justfinethanku said:And you can compare any of these plans and still see value. For example, two MyTouch 4G's are 150.00 per month while two EVO's will cost you 160.00 for less minutes.
Sure, on T-Mobile you don't get "Any Mobile" or nights and weekends starting at 7pm but you get great phones with more anytime minutes at a (usually) lower price.
T-Mob - 3000 mins with unlimited text and web, free nights and weekends at 9 - 149.99
Sprint - 1500 ...
Re: Nice job
That's the beauty of opinions, everyone gets to have one :)
4.3 may seem big, but you get used to it easy enough, and many people prefer the extra screen real estate.
Re: It's all about data...
The question is, what determines "resaonable?"
Ask 20 people and you'd probably get 20 answers.
I think its reasonable for customers to be responsible for monitoring their useage, and to give them the ability to upgrade their plan before the overages occur. Or maybe, give customers a one time only option to waive overages fees they just incurred if they agree to an unlimited plan for a period of time.
Call me crazy, but I think a business should be ...
Re: It's all about data...
If you bend the rules everytime, you might as well change them.
Maybe companies should only offer unlimited plans. Or have a built in clause that if you choose a non-unlimited plan, you waive any chance of getting fees waived. Put it in nice big 24 point lettering if you need to.
My point is, If Joe agrees to plax X, then totally blows his useage out of the water and gets a huge bill, then Joe should have ...

False. A salesman worth his salt can get you to buy without bamboozling you. It's the craptastic ones that are uninformed as to the correct information and the liars that continue to give good ones a bad name. I've been in electronics retail ...
Re: It's all about data...
Thats where the problem lies. People who run up huge bills should have to pay them.
Re: Unfortunately
If you arent sure if something on your phone will charge you extra, its pretty easy to call CS or swing by a store and ask. Not to mention the fact that Apps that cost money will tell you during the sign up process. The problem is that people don't bother to read the terms before the sign up and then complain that they got huge bills after using the service.
Also, many customers will flat out ignore when ...
Re: Great...maybe this time we can keep it in stock.
EVO's don't use Samgung screens. That issue only applies to the incredible and desire.
Re: Will use on BB Storm 2
You can buy an unlock code online for like 10 bucks. Whole process takes like 15 mins, and is worth it, IMO, to not have to deal with ATT to get it done.

If only my EVO had a gold mesh flip up cover.. it'd be a perfect match!

Data cap - A limit on the amount of data one can use.
Throttling the data does not limit the ability to continue using it. It may be slower than what you would like, but it's still available.
As for the second paragraph: Yes, he could've disclosed it better, but only a moron signs a binding contract to someone for two years without reading it. If before signing, you had read the portion that says excessive data use will ...
Re: It's true...but not really...
You are getting far too much "news" from Fox, Jay.
Re: It's true
There is no data cap. The rep accurately stated that the customer could use as much data as they wanted. He did not say that any of that was promised to be at the highest speed available.
Re: 9 months after it goes through the FCC it's just now coming out!
do you tether to a pc, Jay?
Re: people will believe anything apple says
Saying that Sprint and VZW could know as well that their new (1st gen no less) devices will sell just as much as Apple knew the iPhone (4th gen, with an established customer base and a history of selling out) isnt accurate.
It's a gamble for any company putting a 1st gen device on sale, and they have to weigh the potential sales vs the cost of supplies, and base their decision off of that. The EVO could have been ...
Re: The application requires devices running Android 1.6 and up.
I can see you argument if you're talking about only using a cellphone to read them, but if you have a real e-reader, it's not much different than a real book. I much prefer being to take hundreds of books with me in one small device than try to pack a bunch of paperbacks and go on a trip.
As for classic 1st ed.'s being valuable, a lot of those books are really nice, leather bound copies, not like ...

Ok, does this mean if I buy the EVO today that it will be obsolete on the LTE network if Sprint changes?
Yes. But The change would likely take more than a year, and you would be eligible for an upgrade at the one year mark.

Oh, thats cool. Can I use this EVO on Verizon then? Or the Droid X on Sprint?
Short answer... no.
(well, I guess the long answer is also no)
How are these phones unlocked again?
The phones are "unlocked" its the network that doesn't allow them. If you knew the right person, they could put the ESN into the allowed devices list and you could EVO it up on big red.
Re: Please God
You wouldnt even need a full custom rom. Once you have root access, you can pull the .APK's off via ADB shell.

Well nothing says they have to create apps for ALL the stores. They could go to the one that they feel they'd profit the most.
If they were looking for max profits, they'd still end up developing for the big 4 (5 if you count symbian) OS's. why write form Bada with 10000 users when you can write for android and have millions of people who may buy your app?

Radioshack does the same gift card "reserve" AND is giving away $20 in accessories. And yes, every preorder is getting theirs on release day.
Re: When a company is more concerned about profits...
Wireless companies are in business to make money. They aren't unfairly tilting the odds of extra expenses in their favor, the fully disclose what is/isn't covered in your plan, as well as how much extra it will be if you go outside those bounds.
Should the grocery store also have to post a notice that bread is cheaper at Wal-Mart this week to protect people from spending too much?
