Not exactly, at least that's not been my experience in the short time I've had my 3GS, I've had no prior experience with iPhones.
The catch-phrase that seems to be kicked around is 'no 3rd party multitasking'. Apple's stuff in ROM seems to multitask OK, but not the apps I've been buying. If I'm playing music files in the IPOD software, and press the home button to run something else, the music continues.

Not exactly... I've been a WinMo user since it first came out in the form of a clamshell device from HP running WindowsCE -- have upgraded to each new class of WM devices since. The 3GS is my first iPhone, and I'm quite enjoying it. Am able to keep my Hosted Exchange service, and interestingly -- it performs better (faster push) on the iPhone than on any of my WM devices.
