What happens is that the charities basically collect phones from their community and pretty much "sell" them to the used broker. After that, the broker takes care of the rest and give the money to the charity up front. After that the broker sells the phones.

I actually did some research on the charities and it seems legitimate. Though most of the press seems to be for the Red Cross. However, I do think it could work out for your organization. http://www.redcrossinsewis.o rg/index.php/advanced-menu/donate/used-cell-p hones http://chicagoredcross.org/general_cal ltoaction.asp?SN=249&OP=1465&SUOP=1588&IDCapi tulo=VF223FBDFD http://www.redcrossstlstore. org/Default.aspx?TabId=185 http://www.ripple nw.org/rdi/community/viewthread/837/

On picking up a phone from Asia
Oct 23, 2009, 3:19 PM
in the Around the World forum

Hey guys, my cell's been acting all sorts of weird since a week ago and I finally put it out of its misery by selling to a friend who works at a local company called P4C Global. Anyways, we were talking about my future winter vacation back to Asia and he suggested that I could pick up a phone there since they're cheaper and slightly more advanced. I'm on T-mobile, so I was wondering what kind of a phone ...

I wonder what we will be like in the future when we're that age. "Son, I can't merge with the hive-mind." "Did you check your settings?" "I did but I didn't want to mess with it. I still can't find it." "We just upgraded your VR chip last week!" "Yeah, but it's just... gone."

What company do you work for anyways? I used to work for Full Circle Wireless and they deal with the same problems you do.

We used to use PhoneHistryReport.com, but then the company went bankrupt and what not. I don't work there anymore but I have friends who still work the used phone broker I used to be at. (I now work for an IT firm). But since that way doesn't work anymore. CheckESN.com does sound like a good alternative.

I used to work for a used cell phone broker as well. We used ESN verification services from 3rd parties since they were generally faster and more responsive. If you want to deal with another broker, I still know a few guys at www.FullCircleWireless.com. Brokers often do transactions with one another because of demand for certain phones like the iPhone.

It's actually working out pretty well. Considering that we are able to process more phones. Although we add to the manuafacturing overhead, we cut down on direct labor.

How is that site? I have a similar situation going on at the place that I work at in Orange County.

I also had a similar experience with this. I don't suppose that there's an automated alternative to checking ESN's is there? I know about www.CheckESN.com. However, I would like to check out other alternatives, especially the free and fast ones.

Unfortunately, delegating the task isn't an opionion. (That's the problem with working in a middle-sized corporation). I wish someone who DOES buy and resell used phones can help me. Like someone from Recelluar. Even though, I'm not ordering from them.

Yeah, a friend of mine who used to sell used phones told me that Sprint isn't exactly famous for customer service when it comes to checking ESNs, since the wait is slightly longer than other services. On top of that, the information isn't always accurate, since he had cases where Sprint said the ESN was good, but the client ended up returning a few of the phones back a few days later saying that the phones were reported either ...

Checking to see if a cell phone is lost or stolen.

Hey guys, I'm trying to order a set of used Sprint cell phones for my company and I've been looking at some listings on Ebay and Craigslist. Anyways, what I am concerned about whether or not some of the phones have been lost/stolen. Is there any way I can check the status of the phones? I don't want to accidently order a few dozen expensive paper weights.
