The new CDMAs with HD voice is pretty clear IMO. Like everything the technology gets better with time.

Truth. Carriers lock by choice. On the plus side if someone steals your phone it's less likely they will be able to use it with CDMA.

Maybe, but this is actually easier for T-Mobile and Sprint via Deutsche Telekom and Softbank.

Like most carriers, Sprint smooths their coverage map, just because the map says you should have coverage doesn't mean you are not in a hole, the structure of the building can also cause loss of signal. But now, upgrade your phone and bame a tech will come to your house and then you can say "see I told you it doesn't get signal in here". Of course a tech can't waive your ETF...awkward...I feel for those who will have to ...

During the Forsee years, there is no question Sprint made some bad decisions, including the Nextel Merger and choosing to deploy WiMax when they did, but in recent years with Hesse at the helm their decision making has been night and day from what it was, has Hesse been there all along they would have not going the Wimax route as they did...however they already had large investment in it when he took over. Re: Gizmodo is stupid
Apr 20, 2010, 6:38 PM

IMO if the phone isn't released yet, it's a prototype. But think of it this way, if that was Steve Jobs himself in that bar, finding a prototype Windows Phone 7...he's taking it apart.

Re: honesty
Apr 20, 2010, 6:32 PM
in the Article: Apple Confirms Lost Device Is Its iPhone forum

In the phone finders defense (not gizmodo but the guy who actually found it) he called Apple directly and said "hey I think I found a prototype" but they keep their CSR's completely in the dark so they dismissed the claim as a China knockoff...that's Apple's fault.

Re: Gizmodo is stupid
Apr 20, 2010, 4:58 PM
in the Article: Apple Confirms Lost Device Is Its iPhone forum

While I agree with the concept you're getting at...and by no means should they have released the guy's name...but as far as taking it apart, going through it, etc...it's a prototype not a personal phone and it's clear that was the case. Apple expects this to happen if a prototype is found..this is why they place such a high level of security on things like this. They had it coming.

I disagree, at least at launch. The supersonic will no doubt be 3g/4g as 4g is still relatively small. I strongly doubt they would attempt to have two different price structures based on market. And even if they did you likely will not be able to disable a 3G/4G phone from accessing 4G should the customer not want to buy an attachable (i.e run strictly on 3G). Oh and if youre actually a Sprint employee and you're paying that ...

Mar 3, 2010, 4:20 PM
in the Article: Virgin Mobile USA Confirms May 25 Cut-Off forum

While I completely understand killing Virgin postpaid to just write off the subscribers as a loss is kind of a waste. They are CDMA customers using the Sprint network; they could have just loaded the Helio ESN's into Sprint's system, created comparable plan codes in their billing system and migrated the customer's without breeching any of their agreements. That's essentially what they did when they moved the legacy Sprint subs into the legacy Nextel billing system. This would have ...

Re: Sprint merge.
Feb 9, 2010, 6:56 PM
in the Article: Deutsche Telekom Considering T-Mobile USA Spin-Off forum

"I think the current state of Sprint could make two different technologies work together but as separate entities meaning choice."---They kinda already do in iDEN and CDMA; this would make 3 by adding GSM into the mix. To make that merger work would require adoption of a single technology and neither company has the capital for that right now.

Re: Will this work with Sprint??
Jan 6, 2010, 9:02 PM

It will not work with Sprint, as mentioned earlier Sprint/Verizon load the ESNs of the handsets they sell onto their systems and you cannot activate an ESN that the system does not recognize.

No, by crediting you the value of increase they are negating the "adverse" effect of the change. Dec 27, 2009, 7:49 PM
in the Article: FCC Not Satisfied with Verizon's ETF Explanation forum

While the analogy itself is not perfect the reason I stated that example is because the basis behind it is similar. When talking about advanced devices purchased at full retail price it is a fairly large sum of money involved. Enough to where if you were to walk into an electronics store and finance something of the same value a credit check would be performed and the consumer would be approved or denied based on the result. VZW is offering the ...
