Add the $60 data plan. You have to get the new mobile office kit with VZ Access Manager. The kits aren't out yet. I checked with my local store. I've played with the 7130 and its Tight. Nice because you dont have to sign another contract and buy another equipment. Downside is you can't talk and be on the internet on your laptop at the sametime

Sprint EVDO is not equal to VZW. It is in 1/3 of area where VZW is and Sprint service SUCKS. Poor cust service, poor tech support, and has a long future of intergration issues with CDMA/IDEN. Maybe in 5 years Sprint/Nextel will be as good as VZW. I've had them both. Cheaper does not always mean better. Whatever happened to paying alittle more for QUALITY?

Why are you so CHEAP???

This is great news. It's less than $79.99 (price when Broadband Access first launched) and you dont have to buy an Aircard ($50-$$300 savings). Consumers are never satisfied. Why dont you Cheap scapes go to TMobile for less and get 15-30 time SLOWER speeds if Cost is a issue. This technology is GREAT. Who would have ever thought getting Broadband Speeds away from your home WiFi or Hotspots. Grow up, get a job, ...

I would not be surprised by VZW to buy the divestiture markets from Alltel to complete this merger. Alltel and VZW are good partners. These are markets where VZW does not have spectrum or lic to sell.

You should do alittle research before u post something that makes you look dumb. Cingular and VZW is the same price for data service. EDGE does avg alittle faster than 1xRTT, but 1xEVDO will blow EDGE away. 1xRTT and 1xEVDO is the same price on PDA phones. Unlimited $49.99 w/o voice plan or $44.99 w/$39.99+ voice plan. $59.99 is for 1xRTT PC Card service which avg 60-80 kbps w/burst up to 144kbps.

That's funny. I wonder how well its going to work and if it will really work. Its like Cingular's Rollover. Its a marketing skeem to lure customers. A lot of carriers already credit for dropped calls. Kind of lame Alltel has to advertise it. Calling your home phone for free is cool though. Qwest used to offer that, but there were alot of restrictions (ie. have to be in Qwest home calling ...

PRL stands for Preferred Roaming List. When traveling to other parts of the world, VZW will load a PRL that will let your phone pick up any CDMA signals. Those CDMA signals in the US might not be part of the VZW roaming partners, so you might incur roaming charges in the US, because they offer No Roam America's Choice. When you request international roaming capabilities, VZW will usually load a PRL similar to the Single ...

CDMA is better. It is newer and more advanced. It is the fastest growing wireless technology in the WORLD. It is easier to build out and has a higher capacity than GSM. Faster data capabilities. This is the reason why some countries in Europe are starting to build out CDMA 450 network. In 5-10 years, wouldn't be surprised if there is a Tri-band or Quad-band CDMA phone that will work similar to Tri-band/Quad-band GSM ...

Verizon!!! Alltel is a huge part of VZW midwest coverage. Verizon was going to buy out Sprint before they merged with Nextel. Alltel would be a great buy for Verizon Wireless. Both have high cust satisfaction and reliable networks

You dont need 802.11b with Verizon Broadband Data. You get the same speed but dont have to be restricted to "hot spot" area. From what i heard, this is the replacement for Verizon's i700. Wi-Fi is yesterday's technology with alot of the wireless carriers coming out with EV-DO broadban and W-CDMA.

in the Article: Verizon Considering Bid for Sprint forum

The whold merger of Verizon/Sprint is just talk. Sprint/Nextel would be lame too. VZW is one of the best wireless companies in the world financially and cust satisfaction wise. Sprint should sell Sprint PCS to Nextel if they do decide to merge. I can see Verizon buying out Alltel before they buy out Sprint PCS. 1. Verizon roams off Alltel in the midwest, so buying Alltel will lower cost by having less roaming charges. 2. ...

Mar 24, 2004, 5:33 AM

verizon should benefit from the merger. cingular in cali has a worse name than att, so att cust are porting out consistly. also when the merger is approved and they start to combine the two companies there are going to be alot of confusion and havic which will make more cust leave. great marketing promo by verizon for this in-network rolling out during merger talks. making verizon an elite wireless club and allowing members in the club to talk ...

ahhh....why dont u wait a few months? there are 2 bluetooth phones coming out for verizon and why do you want a bluetooth phone so badly that you're going to scarifice service and coverage for a phone? are u willing to pay $100 for accessories or do u have a car that requires an additional $1000 kits for hand free operation like my bmw? if u really need a bluetooth phone for verizon, look for a ...

legally you cant. every carrier subsidies and copyrights software on their phones and aka locks it to their service. also, alot of sprints phones are dual band meaning 1900 mhz pcs/analog 800. majority of verizon's network is 800 mhz, so not compatible in most areas.

Re: ground up>?
Mar 24, 2004, 5:11 AM

its just a marketing phrase like verizons "we never stop working for you". its catchy. building from ground up is a disadvantage. their network is smaller and they have more drop calls than verizon even though they use the same technology. hmmm...i dont think it really matters if you're a merger or built it on your own. sprint service is still just ok

Why did you switch to sprint? going from the 5th best to the 4th best, huh?? next u might want to try out cingular, oh oops, that'll be like going back to att. stop looking for the most anytime mins for your buck on print and switch to verizon and get the service you're wanting. porting does take 2, but at least sprint should follow up on it. i've had porting issues with att to vzw, but ...

Re: sprint roaming
Mar 24, 2004, 5:00 AM

what are u talking about? sprint and verizon dont have roaming agreements with eachother. where did u get that one from? sprint roams majority of the time on analog because majority of their phones are dual band 1900mhz pcs/analog. verizon is 800mhz/1900mhz. verizon by far has 3x more coverage and alot better service than sprint. their cust base is 3x larger too, so more people u know with vzw more you benefit with free in-network calling aka ...

why dont u get on a local plan depends on where you're from but i know there are promo plans for 1000 anytime minutes for $39.99 and add 1000 m2m or n$w mins for $10 or nationwide LD for $5 a month. if u dont travel much around the country, i would do this plan. dont scarifice service/coverage for roll over minutes. 90% you'll be back with verzon within a year or maybe 15 days. if u live ...

you get what you pay for. if u want the best, switch to verizon. might not get as many minutes, but if majority of your friends and family has verizon, its free anytime, anywhere, with their in-network calling. by the way, t-mobile is the same as cingular in cali. t-mobile goes off cingular towers. at least sprint owns their network in cali. overall its a toss up between the 4th best (tmobile) and the 5th (sprint). both have ...

Re: CDMA/GSM phone
Mar 24, 2004, 4:07 AM

the CDMA/GSM phones are for verizon and not for att/cingular. it is verizon's solution for business or world travelers to take their vzw number anywhere in the world. in the US, it will run off vzw CDMA network and in other parts of the world off of vodafone GSM network. Verizon is owned by verizon comm. and vodafone

Re: Porting out of AT&T
Mar 24, 2004, 4:04 AM
in the AT&T Wireless forum

you can start with a verizon number if u need your phone to work consistly. lower your att plan to their $19.99 to finish out your contract. when the time comes (out of contract) submit a porting request form and vzw can port your number over, cancel att automatically once port is complete, and change your number from temp. vzw # to originally att number. port request form process takes 5 days though, not as quick as switching ...

att wireless spun off from att in 2001 and cingular just bought att wireless. att corp or att long distance wants to start up or buy a wireless company and re name it att wireless. the spin off of att wireless had to change their name eventually and probably one of the reasons they sold out to cingular instead of changing their name and still struggle. it's not a conspiracy

verizon was rated best by consumer report. they have the lowest busy signal percentage, fewest drop calls, and excellent coverage. i would try out verizon before renewing with att or switching to cingular. cingular shares their cell towers with tmobile in CA too. just to let u know

Re: The future of CDMA
Nov 7, 2003, 10:34 PM
in the AT&T Wireless forum

The reason AT&T is switching to GSM from TDMA and not to CDMA is because you can convert TDMA to GSM more easily and cheaply. CDMA is still superior with data speeds averaging 60-70kps on 1xRTT and 500-700kps on EVDO. GSM avg 30-60kps. CDMA has a higher call capacity too. when selecting, dont pick by plan, but by what works best. minutes are useless if your phone doesn't have reception or keep dropping calls.
