Re: flash......?
It does indeed support some flash. the full youtube site works for example (i.e. not just the mobile youtube site). however, it is not full flash support but a subset known as Flash Lite (v3 iirc)
wait, what?
Clearwire has indicated that it will resell Wimax from Clearwire
Huh?

Re: AT&T lawsuit in 3...2...1
Even when they apparently have a roaming agreement and a specific agreement concerning the 5G data limit?
Sounds like they already did quite a few negotiations with AT&T...

Have you ever used any form of CJK input?
Re: Smartphone Users - Be Scared, Be Very Scared
Nah, we care about privacy, just not FUD and cross-posted entries.
Similar capabilities exist via the internet through your ISP. Doesn't mean it happens.
Re: Really a Touch Screen?
Ah. Well, if you'll look at the description of the BlackBerry Storm's "SurePress" screen, you'll probably see why I was confused from your question :D
Re: Question about mobile email
The download of the mobile email application itself is about 0.8MB, you could stuff about 68 emails in the remaining 0.2MB (with 341 emails per MB, or 3KB per email)
The 3KB per email size can of course vary from email to email, the size comes from an averaged size supplied by VZW, I'm not certain how big the sample size was, nor the content.
Mobile email doesn't work quite like the (and other email services, like wireless sync, etc) as ...
Re: Inquiring minds want to know!!!
I know of a VZW direct store within the same shopping district as an indirect one... just a short walk away, not even 1 mile...
Of course, that doesn't mean anything in relation to whatever policy affects the Alltel - VZW merger...
Re: SIM Cards
Someone that often gives useful information can still go trolling every now and then.
Also, that seems to be your own personal definition of a troll; which only covers a portion of a more commonly accepted, broader definition of a person that posts intentionally inflammatory messages to forums or chat rooms
Re: Help me Verizon techies!
That means the firmware needs updating, the simplest way to think of it would be to compare it to reinstalling your OS (e.g. MS Windows) on your PC.
Re: Really a Touch Screen?
I'm not quite clear what you mean by "push while touching" unless you're talking about the BlackBerry Storm, but the Versa is indeed a touch screen.

I'm inclined to distrust you myself...
Re: now here is the real issue: Dare or Versa?
Personally, I've had no problems with the keyboard at all.
I also somewhat like the semi-steampunk look of the pleather... but that part is rather subjective.
Re: New LG touch soon
You just noticed?
The post you responded to is from before it came out by the way.
Re: The Truth About "Unlimited" Roaming
They call it that because using the word "roaming" makes people think of extra charges, when domestically there aren't any.
They prefer to only call it roaming when it induces extra charges.
Re: The Truth About "Unlimited" Roaming
A few parts of it does, most of it seems empty...
Re: Peoria, IL coverage questions
From the coverage map, it looks excellent, full broadband/vcast coverage too. Can't really speak from experience though...
Re: Plan/Bill Question
Unfortunately, when you get different phones they aren't sharing the same connection (unless they have wifi...) and are in fact using their own connections...
When you connect multiple computers to the same internet connection, you're still only using one connection.

Compared to many dumbphones, yes it is. However compared to what one would expect from a "smartphone" it's severely deficient in respect to things like bluetooth support

Re: switching phones because i hate my storm
The ESN/MEID is usually listed under the battery, customer service will be able to help locate it too.
Re: First Post...looking at moving to verizon
er... it doesn't actually make it anywhere near twice its original size... for one, it replaces the batter cover on the back, so no extra thickness there, a little wider on the side due to the hinge the keyboard bit is actually quite thin. altogether it's less than a 1/4 inch thicker with the keyboard than without. (also, it's got the pleather thing making it a bit thicker...)
Personally, I just carry it around with the keyboard in place and ...
Re: AWSOME!!!!
Not everyone wants an iPhone because it's not very good as smart phones go...
Heck, my versa (a dumbphone) has better bluetooth capabilities than the iPhone does...

Spyder recalled.
http://www.nytimes.com/external/gigaom/2009/0 2/27/27gigaom-lg-phone-recalled-due-to-poor-9 11-connection-41209.html
Earlier today, the LG Spyder 830 cell phone was recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which said it presented a hazard to the public because it doesn t hold a connection and has poor voice quality during 911 emergency calls. The recall stems from a report of a trapped motorist who tried reaching 911 from a disabled car but whose call was dropped because the network couldn t establish a signal. That person, thankfully, turned out ...

ul and ol are for unordered (i.e. just bullet points) and ordered lists (i.e. numbered or lettered lists) as for li, it encloses each item on the list (list item)

One thing making me want one (as an upgrade from nothing, I don't currently have a cell phone) is support for playing back mp4's and wmv's along with m4a audio.
Haven't been able to find anything about resolution restrictions, or whether it requires specific encoding options though...
Re: Skeptical
It has partial flash support, it can play flash videos encoded with the sorenson or on2 codecs and can play mp3s wrapped with a flash player (along with whatever other mp3 capabilities it has, some websites use this to play music...)
Whatever FlashLite can do, it can, as that's what it's using.
Re: Sigma and Wonk
I know, but the language changed part way into the discussion and I just wanted it clarified at that point too.

I work as an outsourced customer service rep right here in the United States...

Re: AT&T QUESTIONS
VZW won't unlock the phone unless you've had the line of service active with them for the past 60 days (and the account is in good standing)
Also, only once every 10 months unless you had it replaced via warranty, etc. Getting the replacement unlocked does not reset the 10 month counter, so if a replacement phone comes at 9.5 months, two weeks later you could still get another phone besides the replacement unlocked.
Re: AT&T QUESTIONS
I can't speak for the rest of it, but the Storm someone else mentioned does let you use google maps, and just recently had the gps enabled for use with it.
You may want to look up what you can do with the iphone's bluetooth abilities too... afaict it's limited to headset only, not even contact list syncing if you have more than one phone... (although it appears the storm has these same restrictions too...)
About downloading things, etc. someone else ...

Here's something I just found out about the hub that I haven't seen covered anywhere else yet... not that it's incredibly noteworthy, or just something nice, but:
